A very simple question, to what I can't find an answer/solution for, no matter how hard I try. Basically, im renaming my starcraft account because I'd like to have my clans tag in it. The problem is, the name re-creation screen info tab informs me that I cannot have special symbols in my nickname, only normal letters (upper/lowercased included). However, I see tons of people strutting around with their special letters, for example, ‡. (This is the very symbol im trying to add, but can't. No idea why.) I've been trying to look in google, TL forums, but simply cant find anything! Here are the methods i've tried:
- Adding the symbol with an alt-code (Alt + 9768) - Simply copy-pasting from notepad and other various places with the same result - Copy-pasting my entire name, with the clan tag, symbol and name
Im clueless, whats going on? Why do some people have them and I simply can't get it done?
ps. sorry if there was a thread for this, I really couldn't find it. (yay, 1st post!)

If you're on NA then you can't add those characters to your name as opposed to EU. Otherwise I'm not sure what your problem is.

These "special letters" you speak of, are probably just korean or chinese letters......... You can't have fancy symbols in your name breh

I once had a tag that included an exclamation mark. If you just copy paste it along with something else, it works for me. Example: you want to have ! in your tag. copy paste "123!456" and delete the numbers and add whatever you want
worked for me!

Im on EU. I know I cant have for like, chinese words/whatever, but what i do want is exactly the same thing Stephano has, the ‡ connecting his M with his nickname, Stephano. I've tried adding the ‡ mark inbetween my nickname and clanname in notpad (123‡456) with no success.

Just go to Microsoft Word, Insert -> Symbols
Anything from Latin Extended B is usable. Just insert into your document, then copy across when you make your character name and it shows up in game. Korean letters do not work.
I'm not certain, but I think Latin Extended A *might* work too. Some might not work in Latin Extended B, and some others might work. Just play around with it!
I copied them one at a time into my name and saw if they showed up or not

Well, I actually knew that I'd regret not getting Word. Don't know what to do Also, I did read the entire post you linked and found nothing useful.
To add some more confusion, I found out (in the other thread and using google) that the symbols (‡, etc) are intentionally blocked currently. BUT my friend just added ‡ succesfully to his nickname. Well, we thought that maybe there something wrong with my system or smth, and he logged onto my account and tried to make the nick for me. What happened is, he couldn't do it for my account, even though he could do it just 10 minutes earlier to his own. ????
EDIT: Now I got it done! I copypasted it from a different place and it somehow magically worked. I've got no clue why. If someone is still looking for a similiar marking, please check http://www.alanwood.net/unicode/index.html. The specific mark I was looking for was under the Extended latin-B section.
Thanks for the help!

The whole M‡ thing that Millenium does isn't just because it's a cool separator, but also because it kinda looks like an "i" and two "l"s, right? Or is it just me who thinks that?
Kinda off topic, just wondering if anyone knew/noticed that.

I added a "!" to my name a few weeks ago, worked fine for me.
