Okay... Let’s start talking about this Razer house. I’m going to do this in sections. If you feel so inclined, feel free to skip around to whichever section most interests you.
First I want to dispel a couple misconceptions. The Razer Academy is a very broad project. Razer set out to create a platform through which they could provide content to the community. "For gamers, by pro-gamers". In this, they have succeeded. Something they haven’t really communicated, though, is how each person associated with the Academy is actually operating independently of one another. Athene’s work with the Razer Academy, for example, will have absolutely nothing to do with my own.
So, that takes us to point two. This “pro-house” that I will be working on. What exactly is the deal with it?
Again, let’s break it down.
For starters, with or without Razer, this project was always going to take place. I’ve always wanted to be able to give back to the community in some way, and I’ve always felt like the best way to do that is by somehow empowering the player. Originally, I just planned to quietly invite one guy to live with me and play full time.
When Razer found out that I felt this way, they wanted to contribute, and with their support, we can do cooler stuff. We can support more players. We can create some really cool content. And mostly, we can provide those opportunities to hard working people within the community.
III. What is expected of players / What do players get
Players living in this house will not get a free lunch. There are issues that exist. I honestly do not have any interest in giving this chance to someone that is going to squander it. For that reason, I have no intention of paying for somebody’s travel to the house. Sacrifice number one that everyone has to make: figure out how the hell to get here. I don’t care if you come by plane, train, bus, or boat, but I’m not going to be the one who arranges it...
What I am arranging is this:
Players will have housing provided. That means a bed to sleep in, a place to play and reliable internet.
Players will have food provided. They will be fed, and they will be able to eat well. I will not cook, and I will not clean up after them. Players will do both, and it will be regimented. This is not a vacation. It’s a boot camp.
If players wish it, I will see to it that they have the opportunity to work out at a local gym.
Players will also have opportunities to promote their brand through content created in house, and through casting opportunities that will come up through the course of their stay.
Some of the content production/casting will be paid, so players will not be forced to walk around with empty pockets.
The most important point I have here is this:
Players are expected to work. I will expect you to work at least as hard as I do. There will be a minimum amount of gameplay that will be required every day. There will be a minimum number of replays that players will be expected to upload every day. There will be times set aside where players will have to vlog about their experience, and talk about gameplay, on camera, with their housemates. This is the primary condition for staying in the house.
Okay, so this is the most important part, and it will also be the longest.
Obviously a lot of people are going to want to be a part of this. I will always be taking submissions for inclusion into the house, but I will only occasionally be actively filtering those submissions.
Right now, I am definitely going to take one player from the community to be involved in our first rotation of players. There are two other guys I have already confirmed, who I will announce later.
Requirements:
1.) Be capable of getting yourself to the house. - I don’t care how, but if I pick you, you will have to prove that you want it by figuring out how to get here.
2.) Be really good at Starcraft. - If you’re not already high masters, don’t even consider it. It’s very possible to reach a high level of play without me putting a roof over your head. I want to help players take the step from high level amateur, to professional level player.
3.) Have something to show for it. - If you’re good at Starcraft, you should have some sort of pedigree. Who have you beaten? What have you won? Were you top 16 in an IPL qualifier? That’s a big deal. Did you eliminate a famous player from an online tournament? That counts too. Do you have replays of yourself owning the big dogs on ladder? Yea, that counts. I don’t want to see a ladder account and a match history. I want to see proof of skill level and proof of work ethic.
4.) Present it to me. - Make a video. Windows movie maker and x-split are sufficient tools to create something that shows me you care. Think of it like a job interview. If you show up wearing jeans and a t-shirt, will that help your cause? Work on this video. This is my measure of how hard you’re willing to work on yourself. Upload it to YouTube, and then email me the link to bitter.stream@gmail.com. Include in the email any words you might have that you feel may help your cause.
5.) Be ready to work. If you happen to be one of the lucky ones that gets picked, you had best bring your A-game. If you don’t, I will send you home, and it won’t be a first class plane ticket. I will put you on a Greyhound so that you can think about the opportunity you squandered, and all the other people could have had the chance you took from them.
6.) If you don’t get picked, do not give up. In fact, work harder. Get better. Every 3-5 months, players will be rotating through the house. I will continue supporting this project for as long as I am able.
That is it!
If you have any questions, please leave them here. I will do my very best to answer them all.
I saw the thread regarding its launch (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=320920) and it only announced a few e-sports personalities, rather than actual pros.
Who exactly will be the coaches in this team house? Are there going to be SC2 pros that will be announced soon?

Where, where, where.
I know this is an important question, but I can't answer it right now. I will let everyone know, at the very latest, by Monday of next week. If you guys do some detective work, you can probably figure it out pretty easily.
This is not a team house. This is a place for players to come and work their asses off. Work hard or go home. Simple as that.
All the info except for where... If you say where the house is, And I can get there ill take the time to make a quality application.
As Im stuck in this trap in life where I cant find work, and I cant take my SC to the next level, Ive beaten players like viOlet and such when no one is looking. And I just cant do it consistently enough to do well or get noticed from the pack.

Just so you know flab, you just gave me a reason to practice even harder in hopes of getting good enough to apply for this in the future.
I read that it's in Socal Not 100% where. Though I think I could make the cut for this if I put an effort into it. This is a life time opportunity and I would really like to thank Mr. Bitter for spear heading this for the community.
Pretty interesting, but what is it that ensures that these players will have a better chance to succeed at your place than at home? Will there be pro players around to help out or what's the perks? I mean, sure there's free food and housing but if you think not having that is the only thing that keeps you from going pro, chances are that you're delusional and/or don't got a steady grip of reality.
I didn't see any high level coaches that could take someone from high masters to world ranked. If you announce some coaches that the community views as valuable then it will be different. The post doesn't look all that professional and doesn't give me the vibe of fostering/preparing the next top players. It gives me the vibe of you all will waste my time so don't bother. I like that he's strict about it and that he won't waste his time with people who aren't dudicated, but what is he offering? He spent the whole post saying what he ISN'T offering. Tell me why I should work my ass off to get into your house Mr. Bitter. Tell me why it's worth the time.
Of course I wish you the best of luck in your house and I hope that it pans out, but from the OP it seems that it's not figured out yet and may not be worth it.
I really like what Bitter does for the community with his casting and lessons, but this... this sounds like one of the american reality tv shows. Daily vods, the part about sending him home on a greyhound pondering how he squandered his one shot at glory... comes off as rather melodramatic.

Well not only did they Squander an amazing opportunity they took someone elses spot who would be more deserving then someone who is just going to not work their best.

The attitude would be to ware off the stupid in the community who would look at think WOO HOLIDAY, the emphasis is put on the fact that this is a BIG chance to make it. And the attitude should be similarly understanding of this.

Nothing.
This isn't me saying "hey come live with me and get good."
This is me saying "hey, if you didn't have to worry about buying food or paying rent, how good do you think you could get?"

I'm pretty clearly stating what I'm offering here.
I'm taking away your overhead, and giving you the chance to get somewhere.
I'm not going to convince you it's worth your time, because, frankly, I don't care enough to do so.
I want to help people that want this chance without me trying to sell it to them.

Coaches are supposed to help you clean your build and timings not make your builds. You do not need to be Flash to help people play. I would rather have a rotti/bitter/day9 coach me rather than Nani/Stephano/Thorzain. You do not need to be a top player to be a good coach (I think Yellow said this.)
Being an up and coming pro gamer is not some walk in the park you make shit for cash get no help/little help from top players. They are not making you a progamer they are helping you to worry less and have more game time so that you can up your level.
sorry for sending you a pm so fast. this thread answered most of my questions. i should have realized you would make a thread like this. thank you for presenting this opportunity and giving players like me a chance. i am truly grateful. Great moments are born from great opportunity!
i'm 400 points master in KR, but i probably cant get there by myself since i am unemployed right now, shame on me. Sound awesome tho, cant wait to see a tour of the house, and have more information on who will be participating.
This sounds like a great thing Mr. Bitter! Although I personally will never get to the level of play required to get into the house I'm still really excited about it because it's providing a HUGE opportunity for the lesser known players of the community to get their names out there and have their play greatly improve! Also, from the information in the post it seems like there will be a lot of good quality content coming out of the house as well. Good luck with the whole project!~
I'm a full time engineer working every day and Mr. Bitter you have no idea how much I want to quit and come do this thing. If the thought of "what is in it for me" even crosses an applicants mind I can already tell this won't work out because there is people like me who would drop everything just for the chance to sit anywhere near people like Mr. Bitter.
Getting a break and noticed with Vlogs/content/streams/whatever is hard to do on your own, but said content would be catapulted with the help of Razer/Bitter. Best of luck and I hope that you get some really hungry people to pound out some content because I will be tuning in if possible!
Stuff like this is so awesome. I tip my hat to you.
On top of working our asses off to get better will you be sending any of your trained players to MLG or other tournaments? Or will they just be solely training.

This one is complicated.
There will be a couple large events near by. (hint, hint) Everyone will attend these.
If players are in good shape (ie: winning online cups) I will send them to other events within reason. (ie: not Code A quals)

Short answer: maybe
Longer answer: For people who are coming from abroad - no way. For people that don't have to get out of the country, perhaps, but probably not.
This isn't a permanent team, nor is it a foster home.
Think of it like a farm team. You come in, you work hard, maybe, with a little bit of luck, someone picks you up and now you're a legit pro. Maybe some other opportunity comes of it. And maybe nothing comes of it. Regardless, a lot can be achieved in 3-5 months.
what do you think about a player like me who is willing to be a dedicated in-house practice partner that commutes and helps expand awareness for the house without adding much cost to you at all?

Totally open to it.
Also considering opening a room to the general public for about $200/week, not including foodstuffs.

very exciting! please keep me informed on your decision regarding this topic. i am very serious about this.
On one hand I feel like this is going to have a hard time getting off the ground. On the other, I do like your "no nonsense attitude" as someone else in the thread put it. That, coupled with what seem like a good idea... you have my support!
You said players would have to video log etc. their experiences, will some of the action within the house be streamed regularly, or will we be informed of it by forum posts etc?
Essentially, how is the information/goings on being relayed to us mid masters down noobies?
On March 21 2012 11:14 Gemini_19 wrote: Anyone do the undercover work and found out where it is yet? :3 I really hope it is in NA otherwise there go my chances at ever being able to go TT
Wow, MrBitter, this is an amazing project. When I first saw the list of names on the project, I went "meh" in my head, but then, after reading this post, I realize just how big this is for eSports in NA. I love the idea. I just wish I was good enough to even think about applying. ;~;
The players you are looking for would make it regardless (they would have the drive to at least make a splash it if they wanted to take you up on this opportunity). It's nice that Razer wants to jump onboard, but if these guys are already high masters, living at home with their parents, have a pro team/semi-pro team then I don't see why they wouldn't make it on their own accord.
Razer and you are pretty much giving them a place to stay and eat for 3/4 months or longer. That is nothing.
It's more like you are giving them an idea of what it's like to be living in a house with players who aspire to be pros.

yeah the idea is to get to the next level. alot of people are misreading this somehow =/

I daresay these people are not so much the target audience.
I get the impression (correct me if I'm wrong) this initiative is more for the people that have responsibilities (ie. have to pay for their own food somehow) but are still working hard at SC2 (and there are some out there, I'm sure). It basically gives them the opportunity to drop everything and give it a real shot.
Now, if he's not already, I think MrBitter should try to gauge if the drop everything aspect will help the people he takes on. (Short list with interviews IMO) But that's up to him really.
It looks nice, but I don't really see to whom this is actually meant to help.
There is a house and lodging - that is a nice thing, but who is going to make anything out of a 4 month accomodation. If it is someone who lives with his parents, well he could have stayed with his parents. If not, he will probably still want to keep his original place - who wants to find himselfs kicked out of the house for some reason (or just expired after a couple of months) without any place to come back to? So at first look it seems like a bold offer, but it can actually end up being expensive for the people who accept it.
And then there is this repeater banter about how people have to get to the house, is that really necessary? It seems quite obvious, that in order to live somwhere you have to get there And if it is somewhere in the US (in contrast with, say, Banghladesh), then everyone with a half brain can get there.
The "straight to the point" attitude you are trying to have is something that I like, but you are being unnecessarilly annoying in the process. After reading this post, I would not even consider going (if it were anyhow relevant to me). I guess you maybe losing some perspective people just because of that.

I had no intention of responding to these posts, because, frankly, they embody the attitude of someone that I don't want in the house. But since they keep popping up I will take the time to address this issue more directly.
If you feel that you can achieve whatever goals you have without trying to be a part of the Razer house, then by all means, don't apply.
If you feel that regulated practice in a regimented environment amongst other players with similar goals will not help you, then don't apply.
If you feel that regularly analyzing your own gameplay with other high level players looking on and offering their own thoughts won't help you, then don't apply.
If you feel that getting your face on camera with Razer and me backing you won't help to build your brand, then don't apply.
If you feel that having the opportunity to work on a Starcraft broadcast alongside guys like Rotterdam and myself won't help to promote you as a player, then don't apply.
And most of all, if you're afraid of my tone, or if you find the way I'm presenting this annoying, then please, do not apply. You wouldn't last very long here.
I'm baffled by the people who don't see this as, like, the best opportunity offered to the general public EVER. How naive can you be to think that this won't be great publicity? Who do you think foreigner teams are going to pick up: random kid with really good ladder rank and some online cup results OR kid who lots of people know 'cause he's in Bitter's house, on weekly broadcasts with Bitter, having his replays cast by Bitter, etc.?
I realize your mom already pays for your food; it's not about that. This is a chance to actually get to act like a pro gamer. Get your shit together, people.
I really like how Mr Bitter is going strict and not-so-friendly with this. This is very funny.
I hope we'll see him get mad a players on stream ("HOW THE FUCKINGFUCK CAN YOU NOT BE INJECTING FOR A MINUTE - A WHOLE FUCKING MINUTE - FUCKING NOOB !!")
On a more serious note, i think it's a very nice initiative, i wish all the best to the people applying and to the people already selected. If you are high master with only a few hours of playtime a day and you are willing to play more, this is an amazing opportunity to see how far you can get. I'm curious to see what will pop up of this house regarding SC2 as well as QuakeLive.

You do not need to be a top player to be a good coach (I think Yellow said this.)
And iloveoov said you need to be at least a former very high level player, preferably a real top player, to be a good coach.
Anyway, stop whining, people. He's not advertising as if it's some kind of happy rainbow filled insta-turn-pro house, because he doesn't want people applying who have that attitude. He wants people who will give everything to become good. However this does raise the question, why would those people not just chill at home, because with that kind of motivation you can quickly become a pro yourself, if it's in you. The clearest upsides are, imo, that everything around you will be about sc2 so you won't get distracted and a "free" place and food might be useful to some less fortunate gamers.
Pretty cool, although it seems silly that players have to cook the food themselves, should hire a maid just like a korean house so the players can focus on just playing all the time. If its in SoCal like i heard before, i hope that the place will have good internet and the players will be forced to play on the Korea server.
Looking forward to seeing the vids etc, cool project.
I like this idea, a lot. In fact, I think it's perfect instead of a Korean House that sometimes doesn't always have the strictness you want to ensure.
I also think it may be a bit too rigid for some people, I hope the people you select will be as motivated as you intend them to be and I really hope the results follow-through.
Let's make a deal next week im going to Turkey when I get back I will start playing actively and then when I'm actually old and good enough you get me in that house? :D
Wonderful initiative and at least I find your attitude and approach to this commendable. I'm excited to see what kind of quality personalities you will end up with
You say that players need to be high masters, however, I have a friend who is a high diamond/low masters player in the Korea server. He doesn't have an NA account as of now. From what I've seen he could easily be a high masters player in the NA server. He's decent at English and is working hard on SC2 while going to school and he's good.
Will the players be able to play on the KR server? He's tried to qualify for GSL before but didn't make it. He's on the cusp as of now. Should I even bother telling him about this offer?

Whens the deadilne to apply? Like when will you be making your final decision? I will be sending an application but for the UC schools here in California finals week is still going on till the end of the week. So i was hoping to accomplish this over spring break. But if thats too late that would really suck. Please let me know. Thank You
I will reiterate that this is absolutely amazing, and it's awesome that we may have a Gaming House similar to the Korean ones open to the non-pros outside of Korea. We can't all just get accepted to the Gom House and move there.
Only question is that has been... sort of vague(maybe only to me?) what equipment in particular does the House supply? Will it be a Bring Your Own Computer sort of thing? I'm assuming it isn't.

If you want to bring your own PC, you can, and I would even prefer that.
If you can't, then obviously I will make the necessary arrangements.
Since we're working with Razer, all other gear will be provided.

Since we'll be cycling players, there's no real deadline. As I've said, I know who two of the players are already, and will likely decide on a third soon. Don't be sad if you don't make it in. There will be opportunities to come train, even if you're not living here, and there will be a constant stream of new players in as old players cycle out.

I can try to answer your question, if you feel that my answer is sufficient.
For some people, it's all about the environment in which you work/play. I'll give you an example: I can only exercise at home for about 30-45 minutes before I get distracted and stop exercising altogether. When I am at the gym, I can keep going for at least an hour longer. The same thing could apply to Starcraft players. Some feel that they aren't able to commit to playing 6-8 hours per day due to the distractions of everyday life (roommates, family, work, school, etc.), or they just can't keep playing more than 5-10 games before losing their enthusiasm to play during a session. They feel that they need a specific work environment in order to commit more time to doing a specific task (i.e. Starcraft 2).
That is what Mr. Bitter is offering: A specific work environment (boot camp) that allows you to commit a significant amount of your time to playing and improving. You don't have to worry about paying rent, or buying groceries, or what you have to write about for your next college essay. If the only thing there is to do around the house is play Starcraft all day, everyday, then you will probably play a lot of Starcraft. If you are surrounded by high-level Starcraft players who want to improve, then you will also probably want to improve, so that you aren't embarrassed from the difference in skill.
I know I missed a few other points of staying at the house, but this is just one perspective - the work environment.
If some people feel like they don't absolutely need what is being offered in order to improve at Starcraft, then kudos to them; they won't need to attend the Razer house in order to "go pro". Like Mr. Bitter said:

Another thing is that you would be getting more exposure among the Starcraft community through streaming, vlogging, and casting. This allows potential prospects to be noticed by progaming teams. It allows you to have your voice heard (or gameplay seen) by the teams who might be interested in adding a new player to their team.
This is just great. Why anyone can be negative to such an initiative is beyond me. Whenever I daydream of winning big in the lottery or whatever, doing something like this just seems like the thing to do. I won't be good enough to join the house, but best of luck to whoever end up going, I will be following this.
Side note; You could probably charge 500$ for a week in that house, for people who want to play a lot and hang with fellow gamers, even though they might not necessarily be rising stars. If at least part of the concept is providing content, then I would assume there would be room for relative noobs too. Had the house been in Europe, the idea of paying only 200$ for a week would be such a steal I would have ditched whatever other vacation plans I might have had.

$500 would be criminal.
If I open a room to people it will be between $100-$250 weekly.
But this part of the house is still very much up in the air.

Criminal, yes, just saying you would still find interested people. I will take energy drinks and sweaty nerds over most hotels, any day.
As you said, it's up in the air, but do you see that possible spot as open to whoever pays, or would it still be chosen based on x criteria?
Again, good luck, no doubt this will turn out great.

It's going to be a rotation of 3-5 months (possibly longer) of 3 players in the house at a time. Granted if someone changes their minds or drops out a spot becomes immediately open.
My advice: best to just submit your application if you're interested, and they will have it on record. Then you can update it with new self achievements, replays, etc. Show them some progress of your improvement so they are inclined to pick you.

If we are unable to bring our own computer would the computer you provide be of good enough caliber to play SC2 flawlessly? Seems like a stupid question but I thought I'd ask to make sure.
This is pretty awesome. Too bad I gave up SC2 pretty much after ladder season 2 or else I may have tried it out... I just can't get the same feel for the game
How long will stays at the Academy last? Does it depends on performance? Or is it in terms? If so, can one be a part of the academy for multiple terms?
I'll definitely consider doing this next year when I'm done with my uni studies. I've been watching Brood War ever since I was in 7th grade, my dream is to at least live 1 year of the pro-gamer life.
This is incredibly awesome and I commend MrBitter for this awesome opportunity he is creating for people who really want to make that jump from player to pro.

It will be determined before a player actually moves in. One of the first guys, for example, can only stay for 90 days.
The house is like being GM. Once you're in, the only way out is by being stupid.
edit: Multiple terms isn't out of the question, but it's also not very likely...

I'm undecided on this point. I'm pretty against bringing people into the house that don't make the house better, though, so in all likelihood, if there's a bed for rent, applicants will also have to fit a certain criteria.

With regards to your bolded part. That's exactly what I said.
The players who even consider this I would expect to make semi-pro regardless. The only thing this is really providing is the baby steps to what it's sort of like to live in a house with gamers. That's pretty much it.
It's cool that Razer's onboard and it should be fun regardless. This opportunity isn't really necessary either though.
Seems like a nice project. And you sound quite serious about it.
How many players do you plan on having in the house? You mentioned you already have 2 and you will be deciding on third. Will you add them by time or? Also give us some hints on those 2. Some rising talents?

add to that that in germany you usually take a train, not a bus :D but My money would also be somewhere in germany, what with mentioning a big tournament nearby (IEM) or maybe even an invite to homestory cup! I think this is an amazing opportunity for those with the talent and time to make it. godspeed mr bitter!

Let's be honest here. Having to find a way to travel to prove how much you want it? If Bitter (or Razer) can't afford travel, that's totally cool. But don't act like it's supposed to prove something. The playing field of opportunity isn't equal for all, especially when it comes to money.
Similarly, making a good video doesn't prove how much you want it. An applicant could have prior experience video editing, have a friend with video editing experience, etc. This doesn't reflect how much an applicant wants the opportunity much at all, even moreso than the travel nonsense.
Neither one of these requirements seem particularly unfair or extreme. The reasoning behind them, however, is bunk.

If someone wants to be in the house badly enough, they will find away to make enough money to get there. Get an extra part time job, sell stuff they don't need, cut back on unnecessary spending. Doing all of these things does in fact prove how much you want to be part of the house.
Ok, maybe a making a video does not prove how much you want it, because these days its really easy to make a video. But not making a video proves how much you don't actually care for the opportunity.
I just wish the house was in the EU somewhere. The US already has the col academy for up and coming talent. Most people outside the US won't be able to justify moving to a different continent just to spend a few months in a house with no other pro players in just to get thrown out with no where to go after your time is up. Obviously nothing can be done about that though as its where Razer decided the house would be best located!
How long in advance do you stop accepting applications before the next round of invites? Like weeks or monthes before June or around there? I am already cutting work down to now play full time and would love to apply for second round just wondering when I should want to have my application in. Also will ya'll be attending MLGs on this side of the country (east) I didn't see you at Columbus I go to everyone I can been to 3 .

For all intents and purposes, I know who the first three will be.
But I encourage everyone to continue to send in apps so that I have a pile of acceptables that I can invite if someone doesn't work out.
Let me be clear: I fully expect to remove people from this house. When the time comes, I want to be able to get replacements in as soon as possible.
Aside from that, every 3-5 months we will rotating old blood out, and new blood in.

So someone who can easily afford the travel wants it just as much as the guy that took the extra measures to gather funds? I'm not saying that he does or doesn't. I'm saying having to pay your way doesn't necessarily prove (or at all show) how much someone wants it.
As for the video, while your inverse is true, it doesn't really say anything at all meaningful about the situation.

If you're serious about becoming a progamer, Razer is providing those people with a great training environment that is 100% SC2 focused. In addition, they will probably be getting high quality training with other SC2 pros, which you probably can't do at home. This is definitely not for everyone, but I guarantee lots of people would apply for it.
Should offer shorter sessions for people. A lot of the best players in NA are college students so they could possible do a month long stint over the summer or something, but any time longer than that will start to take a toll. Just my 2 cents.

Ah, thanks for reminding me.
At this point I can officially say that while we will be sponsoring three players, there will be three additional beds "for rent".
I haven't settled on an exact number yet, but it will be around $200-$250 per week, non-refundable. 7 days at a time. Nothing less. If you want to come stay in the house, you can, but all the same rules will apply. If I kick you out on day 2, don't come asking for your money back.
I know it's not the same as being there for free, but it's an alternative to teams and players who want to get themselves into a real practice environment.
$200-250 per week eh? I guess that is pretty fair, would the people paying rent be eligible to be promoted officially into the Razer House? Or is it just strictly a pay / train position?
Oh, and how long do you think it would take before you actually know you are able to go? For example, if you want to go in the summer, when do you estimate to know if you are able (and allowed) to go? This might be relevant for people who don't live that close to the house

So they pay $250 to stay in the house, and if you don;t like them you kick them out. What the hell? That seems a bit unfair.

No. They pay to train in a pro environment, and I kick them out if they disrupt that environment.

Everyone in the house plays by the same rules. That means you'll be sitting in on produced content regardless of who's paying for you to be there.

yea... i'm pretty sure mr. bitter ain't here to try and scam 1-2 people of $200. Pretty sure you would have to do something very drastic to get kicked out like bringing hookers in the house. if you're just a jerk and he doesn't want you there.. i'm pretty sure he'll let you stay out the 7 days and ask you to be ready to leave.
Fucksake, if i didnt have a house to take care of i'd start working my ass off to do this. this is an incredible opportunity.
I'll start playing a bit more seriously and see where i can end up, and then maybe if someone i manage to get a bit better with despite the house, miss's and job i'd look into this again.

IMO... drop the entire opening vs combatex. not because of any retarded tl taboo, but because he is playing in noob-killer auto-pilot mode. watching a music video of u defending proxy gates into dt for a minute and a half... i almost turned it off after that. The blink stalkers vs catz and the troll face collosus were sweet. I'd like to see more clips that showcase your multitasking and strategical adaptations to scouting information. examples: warp prism play (immortal, ht, or even just zealots during battle... or dare i say collosus drop?) - also ht vs ghost is boring/annoying as fuck but is such a vital control oriented facet of ur micro and mastery of pvt... even if u are only mediocre at that i think trying it is ok to throw in since ideally ur training in bitter's house should help u make nerds rage almost anything involving blink stalker harasses mb at some when u are winning but before game is completely over, pause and put it on ur vision when u have observers, 3+ base, xel naga towers, then show enemy vision when he is turtled up. vision is pro as for strategical adaptations, i guess there's a lot of options. here's 2 random ones that come to mind suppose u hallucinate phoenix and scout 2 evos, lair tech inc, and a few roaches up. u throw down 2x robo and immortals go boom i think just yesterdayin i saw some pvt where the terran went banshee/thor/marine and the protoss, who had eco advantage, morphed a bunch of ht into archons without throwing down any feedbacks (or storms, not sure he researched). like, for real, maybe 8 banshees and 6 thors all at over 75% energy and no feedbacks. In reality, feedbacking a bunch of banshees and thors isn't necessarily that impressive, but it's a rare sight at least and strategically sound.
And plz don't overdo it with forcefield clips. Every caster alive is to be blamed for beating to death the phrase "great forcefields!" If you trap 30 banelings in forcefields and storm it, i wanna see it. But usually we don't need to be zoomed in for em.
Btw whats the song?

Really? Wow, thats like 15 minutes from where I'll be this summer. Is it possible for people to visit the house?
I was listening to Destiny's stream and he mentioned to CatZ that "he has to go and pack because he's moving to another state". Destiny also mentioned that its near Florida. Although he is already on a team and contracted, could he be one of the new additions to the Razer house? Maybe..

mr.bitter, wil you be doing any coaching/streaming from the house?? your streamed coaching sessions were amazing and the 12 weeks still is easily watchable and educational to this day.
I'd assume not practicing repeatedly, perhaps creating a poor team atmosphere for the other people living there. Disrespecting razor and/or Mr.Bitter continuously. Pooping in the kitchen may also be a no-no.
I can't wait to discover who the lucky 3 are that have been chosen to be the pioneers of this project. Is there only 3 player slots or will more become available later?

The sponsored players will rotate every 3-5 months.
People will also be able to come crash at the house, and live the same regimen for $250/week.

$250 a week? Well that's not bad if you just want to find out how it is to live at a pro house. I very much like this idea.

Mr.Bitter is indeed sticking to his word, this is more like a bootcamp than a carefree hangout. I support this idea, if you want something bad enough and you're given the opportunity, why the hell wouldn't you work your ass off for it? I'm obviously not up to the caliber to apply here but I expect some serious grinding out of the players who are fortunate enough to have this opportunity.

This really excites me and strikes me as an awesome way of doing things. I really look forward to the content produced by the house, and wish you, razer, and the gamers the best of luck in this enterprise! this sounds like something that is, dare i say it, helping esports.

First rotation is set.
I'll keep a pile of acceptable applications on file in the event of someone not working out.
If I receive an exceptional application, I may take on a 4th player.
Edit: To be more specific:
I've confirmed three guys. I had more or less confirmed a 4th, but he didn't live up to his end of the deal. So I could take on one last player. I'm not going to bother with mediocre applications, at this point. I will be announcing the first players in coming days, as well as releasing a short video showing what I expect of applicants. (Because a lot of people sent me really shitty applications)
edit2: Time-frame to apply: There's no set one. Get yours in before I pick someone else.

I'd love to allow locals to come out and hang with the crew, or even train at the house.
At least, I'm willing to be cautiously open to it at first. The instant I feel like people coming out is taking away from the players' ability to practice, I'll cut it off.
Also:
I'll have a proper preview of the house up soon, as well as info on the first invites, and a look at what I expect from an application.

I'm like an hour away from where you're going to have the house at, I'd love to show up with food for a Barbeque and some cold drinks (and a Video camera of course) It would be hands down one of the best events of this summer. It's already starting to get scorching hot.

Do you need to bring your own computer over? If so that would definetely screw over Europeans.
I don't see why you'd have to explain to people how important it is to present yourself. If they can't put in the time and effort to give you a decent presentation, how are they gonna put in the time and effort towards training?
On April 13 2012 21:57 Omgzpwnd wrote: and it made me wonder: does NA high masters equal europe high masters?
its more like high master doesn't equal high master. I've seen many players with 900 points calling themself high master while the highest players had 1400p+
and there is a little higher point inflation on the NA server, so at the end of the season the highest NA masters usually have around 100 more points.

Hey Mr.Bitter, I know you said you want to see some big dogs being beat, but I have reached top 5 masters by teaching myself, only problem is I haven't faced any big dogs lol only a guy who i faced was on CombatEX team. What if you get a 100% dedicated player who has been waiting for an opportunity like this to get better? I know if I get into something like this I will not blow it. Would you be willing to look at a clip of somebody who plays well just hasn't played against a pro yet, but has that dedication?

If you haven't played any known guys, its because your MMR still isn't high enough. Keep grinding away at the ladder. Even I hit a pro from time to time in my ladder sessions, and I would not accept myself into a training house.
It's kind of obvious, since Athene is not so popular in the SC2 community MrBitter points out that he will not be apart of it to not attract haters. But OT it's a really cool idea, except that small part.

Did you make this account specifically to 'defend' Athene? All of your 3 posts have been dedicated to him.

I just stumbled across this post and I'm with everyone else looking for updates I'm really interested in seeing those vlogs and other content such as a house tour ^_^
This is a pretty neat idea. When I was reading about it at first, I thought it was a very open opportunity, but as I looked at it more, it's actually for an extremely limited group. Getting high masters/low grandmasters to fit the qualifications is one thing, but actually being able to participate in something like this is not realistic at all for someone like me. Abandoning everything I have for 3-5 months just to have to start over after that time? I'd be so screwed it's ridiculous lol.
This is a great opportunity for some people though. Anyone that has no commitments, a good amount of money saved or invested, and a big will to become a pro gamer. This is your moment! Best of luck to everyone
How I wish I wern't forever bronze Not because of lack of skill but because the moment I get close to promotion from having wrecked face for a week I get horrid ladder anxiety to the point where I can' play for like 2 months at a time
im watching climbing the ladder right now and Mr. Bitter is sorta going a bit in-depth about the house, nothing we havent seen here. He mentioned BeastyQT is in. just wondering if there is anything else going on, who else is there (i think i heard rotterdam not sure though) any other updates?
EDIT: NVM he said hes waiting for Razer to announce them. he mentions 2 are on teams not well known, one is known (beastyqt prob?) and one dude is unknown.

There was a different thread that got bumped a while ago with more "specific" information in it. Though, the general consensus was that while this is an incredible opportunity for the players, as you noted, there is not much marketing for them coming out like there was planned to be. (weekly replay packs, streams cameras etc) Mr. Bitter says they are doing fine though.. so I assume the players that have been accepted are more than happy with what they're getting. Thus, we can't really be saying if it's failing or working. As stated above, Beasty was doing quite well while there, and I know gix was playing well during his stay(not sure if hes there or not anymore)

Yea I remember the initial crop of players was Beasty and a bunch of mid master/ low GM players. I don't think anyone is surprised that Beasty is doing well since he was already established as one of EU's stronger Terrans and was on team Empire prior to entering the house. Outside of Beasty (who never even mentioned his time at the Razer Academy) the others players have gone from relative obscurity to total obscurity. Like did any of the players besides Beasty actually improve or put out content? As far as I can tell the others players gave up on SC2.

One was on Check six I believe? which disbanded. Gix was constant top 20(?)ish NA GM during his whole stay as far as I'm aware. So yes, he improved. The other two, I can't really remember. @_@ edit: yeah, gix finished 6th in GM last season.
