They are already struggling as it is. barrier? all BW progamers have to have a license, its not foreigners that are singled out. You either earn a license by winning courage (which is how most players get it) or you get one from a team (like idra did, who never won a courage). Foreigners weren't good enough compared to the koreans so they didn't make the cut. It wasn't BECAUSE they were foreigners.

Only because Riot does everything public it doesnt mean that Blizzard is doing nothing... Maybe they just dont talk in public about how they support eSports...

To be honest, if SC2 died and everyone moved to another game I would probably end up checking out the other game. I mean, the rise of LoL in Korea shows that people are willing to embrace a new game that people on TL diss constantly as requiring no talent or skill. I know that players rise and fall all the time. It's just like sports that way. There's a huge difference between all the current superstars switching and players past their prime switching (like BoxeR, July, and NaDa). I think that if the current superstars switched it would cause a huge boost in SC2 popularity... Sure, some people won't like it, but I really don't think that the mass audience in Korea is anything like the niche fanbase here on TL. This isn’t about ”checking out the new game”. Do you honestly believe that BW fans (foreign and Korean) haven’t checked out SC2 already? If anything, BW fans were the most excited about the release of SC2 but many felt that it severely lacked the depth of the original game. The ones that did like SC2 started to watch it, I don’t see how forcing a switch on the ones that prefer BW could be seen as a good thing.

KeSPA/OGN/MBC/Korean pro scene is the reason SC has sold some 13 million copies instead of 5 million.

I'm sick of the SC2-vs-BW fights that crop up in nearly every thread on TL. Its bond to happen. When one entity is making an attempt to devour the other, expect people raising swords against another. Its pretty much a declaration of war.

A more accurate comparison would be if all of pro baseball players switched to softball; which well it might stimulate fandom for the sport, would have nowhere near the strength that basbeall had. It's not like there is 100% no possibility that if the top BW pro's start playing SC2 it wont have any chance of attracting a huge audience. It might fall flat on its face then SC will slowly die off in KR or it will succeed and SC will get some new life back in it. Either way the international scene will continue and same with GOM. But hopefully for the sake of SC staying alive in KR SC2 gets well received ( for the 2nd time round lol >.>).
If that is the case, I assume that if all SC2 players switched to LoL, you would happily start to watch LoL instead of SC2? The inject of talent would be great for the LoL scene wouldn’t it? Also, are you aware of the fact that BW players are constantly replaced by new younger stars? BW is not dominated by Boxer, Nada and OOV anymore, but somehow people still find the game interesting. The reason for that might have something to do with the fact that people actually like the game. No player is bigger than the game itself.
flash is probably bigger than the game. but other than him no

In this case it is actually usefull that Blizzard cares about their money and enofrces their position (even though I find it absurd that they can do it). It's their product. They keep it maintained. If it wasn't for them, how could organizations like KeSPA exist? Is it really the unreasonable for them to ask for a share of the profits KeSPA makes because of this product? Should the movie industry allow theatres to buy a consumer DVD, and charge viewers $5/ticket to see it?

SC2 fan reaction : It is good, we do not want it complicated !!! History, part 2 : LoL is overtaking over SC2. LoL is huge simplifield on every level and aspect of the game, compared to SC2. SC2 fan reaction : It is not good, because it is simple !!! Both parts of the history are basically the same. I just do not get, why SC2 fans are mad only about the part 2... they should be mad at both parts.

Then the current teams won't be able to pay their players and they will all switch to either foreign teams or the Broodwar/Sc2 teams. Having Gom and Kespa side by side would be an absolute miracle. Because sponsors like Sony Ericsson is not a big sponser at all..

So Blizzard continues to make buttloads of money, and spends less money balancing a game to keep it competitive at insanely high levels of play. KeSPA does exist, and they should understand that the owner of the IP of a product they'd like to profit through maintains control, and gets a cut. This is especially true if the IP owner continues to support the game, enhancing the very product KeSPA is trying to sell.
