Alex Garfield needs to either stand where he says he's standing or he's being predigious himself by not following through with his words. IdrA doesnt call people extreme names thent ry to hide that he does it I'm not upset or anything. So don't take my posts the wrong way. Idra calling people "faggots" is extremely offensive. If Alex was gay I garentee that Idra would get the boot fast than you can spell applesauce. he already addressed idra. go read the other thread.

Would like to know if a contract existed. i believe there was some incidents of it during his employment and he did lie alot about it during his employment as well and there was no apology Thank you. I was under the impression that it all happend before. It did. From what I recall skimming those threads, every incident happened before he was with EG. from what i recall from skimming threads hes been known for raging at his chat and some of that happened while in the EG house (raging in ladder and at chat not the specific language) Nobody cared about the rage. They cared about the one word. Well, they might not have cared, but at least one person disliked him enough to make people care and then everyone wanted to care so they fit in.
If he had used almost any words at all other than that one word none of this likely would have happened.

That's harsh Orb is a great caster - they should have kept him

I think this has to be one of the most well articulated apologies I've ever read. Unfortunately, it did not come soon enough to please the mob. I hope you get a second chance soon, it sounds like you have learned from your mistakes.

I understand that he is representing an organization and thats why it's worse than it would be otherwise but jesus.. some people in this thread act like they've never used a racial slur in their life. WE ALL HAVE.

Orb, I personally lost respect for you b4 EG. I thought this would be a good spot for you to grow as a person and in SC2. I hope that you take what has happened and learn from it. Fortunately for you, this is a Starcraft 2 job, and maybe what you learn from this will not cost you a job in the workforce later on in life.I forgive you and I hope others do as well, but man you got some growing up to do and I hope one day you become a man and act right like you know how to do.

in general, the majority of people rank nigger as a far more offensive term then any that exist and alex has tweeted that every time idra saids faggot he gets a personal talking to from him and thats why he doesnt anymore

Still not sure if you're sorry or just sorry you got caught.
If its forgiveness you want, then you'll earn it with how you choose to learn and grow from this experience and conduct yourself in the future. That part is all up to you and I hope it all turns out for the better. Good luck.

lol all these baffoons crying racism need to take a break from the internet if they are offended by something so small like this.
did any of you go to highschool? 90% of everything i heard from the black kids and their couple of white friends was calling each other the "n" word im sure they would have laughed your ass into dropout ville if you would have cried racism around them.
im just thankful im not severly naive like the people crying racism and raging becuase of this...

GL in future Jake, even if I cannot abide what you did no one deserves to lose their job in such a painfully public manner and I hope you land on your feet soon <3.

For what it's worth, I forgive you for your actions and for initially lying about it to SirScoots. Best wishes to you and I really hope we see good things happening for you and from you in the future. God bless.

Just stream and keep the personality, its what keeps people watching you anyway.
The trolls just wanted you gone and they just made a crapstorm out of nothing. Sadly... nothing can often times destroy you when many people come out and troll together.

On the first hand, I love Orb's casting and have since he started doing stuff with the NASL. The fact that I'm likely not going to see anymore of that for awhile is really disheartening. I think this apology is honest, but it's still too little too late. However, he's not really apologizing for the right things here. The specific language he used is obviously not acceptable, but unfortunately he handled this situation poorly. I'd like to think that if he owned up to it and admitted that he said those things that would have been the end of it. The problem was more that he tried to cover it up, which is an understandable, knee-jerk reaction. I've seen Orb's stream before I saw him cast. The dude rages. We've all done things in the heat of the moment that we realize are unacceptable (even if those are multiple moments). But now I feel that I cannot take his word at face value. He says these things all happened long before his stint with EG, but he also said that his friends did it and... Well, we know the rest. The accusations against me could not be farther from the truth. The 'N word' was used in a replacable fashion, in that any other curse word would have held the exact same meaning for me. Just by the way, that is actually kind of the definition of racism right there... You call someone a 'f***ing jap' and say 'oh but I may as well just have called you a 'f***ing wanker'. Except he wasn't using the term towards black people. He was using it the same way many people use the the word f**, as a general insult. On a certain level I approve of this, as it actually desensitizes the term and destroys it's meaning. Anything that is used less frequently or is repressed, increases in significance. Be it alcohol (prohibition), drugs, or words. The more we try to "raise awareness" to non-PC terms by simply making everyone not use them, the more offensive they become when actually used. That however is just a fact of life, not a justification for immaturely throwing the word around either. This cannot be more wrong. These words have very specific meanings that will always be negative, and by using them in other contexts you're actually giving more power to those words. There is a reason why "cracker" isn't as offensive of a term and isn't used 50 times in every rap song. I didn't put the **** in cracker, because I think many people wouldn't even figure it out. The word had the intent to be both derogatory and insulting, however it's used far too commonly by everyone to be effective. Every offensive term you can think of is not used frequently and ones that are used the least tend to be the most offensive. Other social factors have weight, like original use of the term, well known figures who famously used the word in statements or speeches. It gets to be a rather deep and complicated social phenomena, however it is a fact. The other way to present this is that offensive words are not used frequently BECAUSE they are offensive, however that is a narrow way of looking at the topic. In reality both aspects are related and affect the use of the word and how it is interpreted. Also to add, the high use of the n-word in all the rap songs has not increased it's offensiveness in any way.
You think "cracker" is a commonly used pejorative? Seriously? It's used as a joke maybe, but as an actual racial pejorative it's pretty lacking. "Hick" or "redneck" might have a little more traction, but that's beside the point. There is no equivalent for the N-word that can be used on a white man (at least in a western cultural context). Nothing will have the same impact or derogatory connotation, even if used in an "outside" context. And, if I'm reading your logic correctly, the fact that cracker is so seldom used should actually make it one of the worst words someone can ever say. Ever.
Please, go into the "rather deep and complicated social phenomena." I'm almost done with my Master's, so don't dumb it down for me.
The fact is that when one use a pejorative with a clear derogatory intention, more power is given to that word, not less. For instance, calling someone a "fag" isn't changing the meaning by applying the word to a something that is in no way homosexual, it implies that the situation AND that being gay are both bad things.

orb im sorry man this only happened because some sleeze bags dug up you saying words that 99% of sc2 players have said before. People just try to pull down whoever is on top.

Even if your account was being used by someone else ( which I don't think it was ), I would have expected you to sit back, analyze the situation, and do the right thing by coming out immediately and apologizing. The smoke and mirrors only dug you a deeper hole and probably left a lot of people with more animosity towards you.
Secondly, your apologize was something I'd expect from a 6 year old who was only apologizing because their parents were making them. It was written half-heartedly and didn't address the things people are up in arms about.
Thirdly, I don't think attacking people ( Totalbisquit ) on your twitter is such a good PR move.

It's mind-blowing to me how many people have defended Orb in this thread, or advised the rest of us to "relax" or "settle down." I'm usually so proud to be a part of such an intelligent and forward-thinking community but this thread leaves me scratching my head.
"Nigger" or "faggot" are not acceptable ANYWHERE. To the people who say "derp welcome to the Internet" or some other apologist garbage, I would just say why don't you grow a backbone and stand for something.
Good luck Orb but I think EG made the right decision.

I was having the best time of my life before this incident reared its ugly head, so I want to thank them for providing me with that opportunity. It's a shame I had to ruin this for myself before it even started, but hopefully one day, in the future, forgiveness will allow me to return to casting. All I have ever wanted in the SC2 scene was to provide entertainment and education for the community and viewers, and I have failed at that.
My sincerest apologies, Jake "orb" Sklarew
This seems sincere and I'm glad orb came out like this.
Seriously man, stop the fucking idiotic BM that only aims to harass or annoy your opponent. You have a lot to offer as a member of the community and even as a player but your brainless hissy fits impede any potential growth you may have. I sincerely wish you the best of luck in the future, but you still have a lot of maturing to do. At least this seems to be a good start.
