So I had an idea to have a semi informal "interview" with ST Aphrodite, because I thought it'll be interesting to put some more information into the fanclub topic's post about her.
I've asked her on fb and she said it's a good idea, so I'm going with it.
I don't have a set day yet, but I also thought it would be good to let the community ask her questions to be asked within the interview, as I'm thinking of asking like 10-12 questions to her.
Here are the questions I'm already going to ask (or at least subjects): - Favorite Unit from each race - goals for 2012 (even though it'll probably be march when I'm asking her, but /shrug) - Favorite Color - Favorite food (korean+foreign)
So ask away, and I'll pick them out and ask
============================= Important note: - I refuse to ask relationship based questions - inappropriate questions will be reported, and not used - my questions are not sc related because I'd rather the community ask them - if there are good questions, I'll probably replace my questions. =============================
I don't think that you should ask about her favourite colour, food or animal tbh. You should maybe ask her what she thinks about female progamig in general.

I ask what I want, but you guys can ask that :S I just felt like adding more sections to the fanclub opening post :|

sheesh
That's not the problem, it's why are the non-sc2 related questions being asked in the first place? For your own entertainment?

Cause he is running a fan club and people want to know more then just durrr is teh penix +2 range imba?
EDIT- His questions are fine, hell I'd like to know what Incontrols fav color is.
(oh and Sir Scoots, but that's for something else entirely <3 )
what's your favorite... feels like kindergarten or something although i'm not familiar with korean culture so it might be suitable there. + Show Spoiler +
i'm not saying that korean culture are childish
if i might add a couple of questions; how is practise going? are you a feared opponent within the team? if you would date a sc2 character who would that be?
1. Why did she choose to play Terran? 2. How does her schedule works with or influence ST_Rainbow's practice? 3. Does she plan on attending foreign tournaments?
What's wrong with asking questions not related to SC?
Those are the best questions...
Look at half the questions asked to BW progamers in every interview for the last three years (excluding post-game interviews). It's nice to get to know the player as a person beyond their thoughts on the game...
1) Does she feel that she can compete with male progamers on the big stage 2)How does she see female progaming evolving, will it ever reach the heights of male progaming? If not why 3) Ask her how practicing in the ST house(I think shes there right?) is helping her develop game
Fluff questions: 1) Some inside information about startale like: a) who is the biggest clown in the team b) any embarrassing stories about any of the players (mainly rainbow) c) practice regime d) why so many changes to the damn ST logo?
On February 23 2012 09:09 OptimusYale wrote: 3) Ask her how practicing in the ST house(I think shes there right?) is helping her develop game
I don't remember fully, but I think both rainbow and her aren't in the teamhouse.
I do know that rainbow at least isn't because the coach was talking about their practice regimes a bit -- on how rainbow is an exception because he's mature enough to continue with his practice without other people making him to so (or something?).
3) describe the circumstances that led to you picking up SC2?
4) If you were born in the USA, what would you be doing right now? And would it bother you, if trolls were chanting "USA USA USA!!!" when a non american player is playing?
5) Are you a bad ass chick or a girly girl?
6) Lets be honest here, you are better at SC2 than Rainbow...
Do you feel you are at/below/above the level of a standard Code A korean player? Do you think you will get into the next GSL?
Do you have a rival in the female gaming world and outside of the female gaming world? If so, who?
Have you managed to beat any big names on ladder? (e.g nestea, MVP, DRG etc)
Best matchup? Worst? Things you need to improve on?
Even If you dont ask these questions, I still wish her success and good luck. She is totally legit and i really hope she wins something big soon. Love her playstyle.
"Do you think Males benefits some gene that makes it unfair to compete vs Women?"
then if she says "no"
you can follow up with the question:
"So why should Women have their own tournaments and prizes and get contracts instead of Males with the same amount of skills (and in alot of cases more) as the ladies?"

Ahh, I'd love those fluff questions, but since she doesn't live in the teamhouse ... sigh.
1.What is your favorite matchup? 2.Who do you think is the best player for each respective race? 3.What do you think of the ghost nerf and how it impacts TvZ?

the 1d one would be amusing to ask, but even if she was in the ST teamhouse, I don't think she'd know...cause logo's are usually cause of management hehe :p
1) A while ago, you didn't look at all dominant on Rainbow's stream; however, now you've turned into a complete gosu in Starcraft 2. What do you think factored into your drastic improvement in play?
2) Do you have any plans after you're done playing Starcraft 2?
I'm not sure if anyone's brought it up, but if you could ask if she has heard of or respects TossGirl? Or, otherwise, does she have any female role models in the e-sports community she feels encourages her? Or does she feel like it's all on her shoulders?
please don't go on about "females in esport" or any of those question.. please have an interview with a woman WITHOUT those types of questions for once
umm....you ask us not to ask any shallow questions and YET you will ask her generic stuff like favourite colour and food.....come on.....
1) What kind of challenges female progamers must face in order to succeed in a male dominated industry and do you think female progamers will one day be able to compete with male progamers at the highest level?? 2) A number of teams have recruited female progamers recently. What are your thoughts on teams that recruit girls soley by their gender and appearance and not by their actual talent? 3) What is your opinion on booth babes, like the ones in the OSL, in general? Would you be offended if the tournament you are playing at has them? 4) Do you know Tossgirl personally? I would love ot see you in a showmatch against her.

Where did I say not to ask shallow questions?
I only said that I'm not asking relationship based questions nor inappropriate questions

The answer is obvious, though not necessarily the best solution: it's affirmative action/Title IX in eSports. All that you've mentioned is an attempt to get women into playing SC2 where, for some reason or another, they haven't been represented in as high a proportion as men.
Getting a temporary ban for this is ridiculous. It's a fair question and I'm interested in Aphrodite's response. Even though its likely to be something I just stated above, it's better than asking about her favorite color.
Censoring reasonable discussion is like...well, everyone knows the parallels.
1. If you were able to go to any foreign events, do you think you would be able to place well?
2. Rainbow is slated to enter the military soon. How will this effect your progaming career?
3. Many viewers saw the account you use to play NA ladder beating Destiny on his stream. Destiny claimed that this was Rainbow and not you, can you confirm/deny this?
4. Do you think you, right now, have any realistic hopes of qualifying with your current skill? There are many great players waiting for a chance to get into code A, how do you feel about having to compete with such a large, skilled playerbase about breaking through?
5. How many hours do you practice a day, and do you see yourself getting better?

That question is offensive, confrontational, and worst of all, remarkly stupid. Most people won't stop you if you hate on women online, they'll just think you're immature. However, that "question" walked into the fields of idiocy and the asker just looks like a member of the occupy movement.
INcontrol went to MLGs he knew he wouldn't even place in because it would help his team. E-sports is a show in the end, teams make it happen, and sponsors pay teams. The people that have the naniwa mindset of winning aren't thinking straight.
It should be pretty dang obvious why women have different tournaments. Zowie Divina got what, 300k viewers in China? We can't scrounge that up for MLG. Why do you need a progamer and not a 8th grader with an inkling of thought to answer that question for you?
To be honest, if E-sports was all-female, I think it would be seeing equal to/more success than it is now.
1) Without trying to be humble, how does she think her skill level compares to that of the average Korean Code S, Code A, and Code B Terran player? And how long does she think she'll have to play and practice to reach the Code S level?
2) Does she get annoyed by fans complimenting her on her appearance rather than her skill at SC2? Does she think this will change if she does well in a major tournament?
3) What does an average day of practice for her look like? From getting out of bed to getting back in.
4) What are her thoughts on the current balance between the 3 Starcraft races?

I'd like to know if she would encourage her future children to become pro gamers or not (I'm assuming she doesn't have any now, I really have no idea though).
We hear this answered by males sometimes, but women tend to have a far different reaction when discussing children in general.
Stuff about Starcraft that isn't to do with her being female would be great. Her ambitions, how she came to join ST, how her relationship with Rainbow is like now that they're teammates, stuff like that.
