How many SC2 players are also WoW players anyway? Is it a substantial share?
I quitted when SC2 came out,if WoW would be free, i would still playing it

I wonder if LoL’s popularity is really do to their UI or due to the game play? Probably a combination of the two. I do agree as more times goes on that in order for SC2 to really hit that next level and increasing it’s esports presence…it’s going to have to step up its UI. No doubt about it.

Just to add my voice to this. I don't consider battlenet 2.0 fit for purpose and I really hope Blizzard tear it up and bring out something new for Hots.

Yup... this is why I've stopped playing or watching any SC2. I used to watch hours of tournaments and play 3+ hours a day. Now I watch BW and play LoL.

This is an amazing thread, I love the images and work by goblinoid!
It truly is sad that we still have this awful ui in such a great game. With b-net 1.0 and the daily tournaments of wc3 the game would improve tenfolds.

This thread certainly has ballooned a lot since I first read it, well done!

What was the reason for removing the chatfunctions? Wasn't it something like they feel like it will only give a platform for trolls/idiots and rude people to spread their filth around, and that would be detrimental to the game experience?
If this is true that's a pretty strange way to look at things. Removing functions to protect the users from the other users, so that it will not damage the game (while not having chatfunctions actually harms the game more than reading all the troll messages)

apparently they removed it because of spam bots. but i rather have spam bots and the old bnet than the shitty bnet we have now
blizzard needs to take a page out of valve's approach to dota2

I know the title is more the intro to a whine thread than an actual question, but I personally don't care because all I want from the SC2 UI is to give me an appropriate opponent at the click of a button, and it does that better than any game I ever played.

I really freakin' hope modders do an SCII remake in Dota 2. That would be the best thing ever... Blizz has managed to lose my trust after years of being No1.

I have been seeing the videos about BNET in WC3 and got the urge to play it again. ^^
Blizzard Downloader GO GO GO!!!!

old news, obviously, but went googling a little bit and as per www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/iaodb/blizzard_is_looking_for_a_lead_designer_for/ and http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/careers/directory.html#region=Americas combined, blizzard has been looking for a lead designer for battle.net (alongside a DBO and two LSE spots among others)... apparently for the last eight or so months when you look at the reddit's date.
companies grown to the size of activision-blizzard in terms of employee count and revenue need five executive decisions to lift their finger on anything and when they're missing a couple necessary ones, they're often even more clumsy and stupid than expected. maybe there's a sliver of hope the b.net section of actiblizz is simply too inept and understaffed to design/produce a decent product at the moment, instead of them merely wanting to shove the entire userbase of their product headfirst into the deepest circles of hell like i've figured likely for the longest time!

Thanks for the bump! Try to work on your social skills, though.

Maybe he works on his social skills in places other than StarCraft 2. When I play StarCraft, I want to sit down and play StarCraft. I don't want to talk to people about why whatever race they play needs a buff and whatever race I play needs a nerf.
When I want to interact with people, I go out with my friends. When I want to play a game, I play a game.
This is why I don't care that the UI is bad. If the UI was great, like many of your suggestions, my StarCraft experience would be 100% the same, and I imagine the majority of players would say the same.
(Also, don't be a dick)

I think the worst thing about this is the feeling that Blizzard doesn't care.
Ofc they know all about this, probably already knew this was going to happen and are happy in this position we are in now.
|
We do care. I wouldn't mind better clan support. Battle.net 2.0 feels more like Battle.net 0.5. It actually lost more features than it gained. It converged to RealiD and added achievements/challenges/stat tracking. Other than that everything else got cut. Chat is extremely basic. IRC from 1988 is more advanced than Battle.net is currently. And Blizzard is a multibillion dollar company.
Please send links to this thread to Blizzard/Battle.net officials. Hopefully they won't ignore 71 pages of postings completely agreeing that s--- needs fixing.

I really would like to have an obs button for clan members. Its the most annoying thing when you are starting a game and you have to have everyone ask for an obs, and you miss people for various reasons.
