UI still sub-par 2 years later. Why don't we care? - Page 63

The total number of people willing to not buy future games over these issues is small, especially compared to the number of total potential customers. We're not the hand that feeds them, and we won't get anywhere with threats or rage (though I can understand either). We have to make those responsible understand our passion and our disappointment through numbers, patience and, as far as possible, civil conduct.

We have to make those responsible understand our passion and our disappointment through numbers, patience and, as far as possible, civil conduct. We are doing this tho, even tho some people are trying to ruin it by supporting blizzard and saying ''bnet is fine...''. ANYWAY, the best thing to do atm is: - Bump the threads on US/EU/SEA forums. Blizzard read those forums alot - Bump this thread and type why you dislike BN.et and agree with Shockk - Get your sc2 friends to register on Tl.net and post in this thread, also make them post on the sc2 forums. - Hold up signs at MLG's and stuff with criticism of BNet 2.0 :D It's good. - Lastly, dont give up until those bastards answer us and promise us they're gonna fix it. Even if they plan on doing it for HotS, dont let them keep it a secret for 1-2 years until Hots is out... Thanks.

I didn't play SC/BW so I don't know much about that but I played WC3 for 6 years. I uninstalled it a few times but guess what kept me coming back? The community! I had friends from playing custom games, friends who I helped test custom maps with, old clanmates, and I was also an avid mapper. Also, that's 6 years of not laddering (yeah, I never really got into ladder, but I admired people who did). There was no real stress on players in warcraft 3. You weren't limited to a single account for a copy of the game so if your stats were terrible on one you could make a new one and use that. SC2's custom game system is terrible. Sure, some things are easier like getting a group of people into a custom game, but with SC2's system new maps are going to have a very hard time becoming popular, In warcraft 3 if someone released a new map they could simply make a game, call it 'New map come help test <3' and get a bunch of friendly people to rate it. Now guess what? SC2 modding is dying because it is SO hard to get a new map out there. Never mind custom games, sometimes I want to find a certain map and its pretty hard. I can type MLG Metalopolis and I get a list of 100 maps which 80% of have nothing to do with 'MLG' or 'Metalopolis'. The UI suggestions in the opening post were probably some of the more obvious improvements and is how Blizzard should have made it to begin with. Seriously Blizztards what were you thinking?

It's now been over two weeks since this whole thing started. With 80 posts on the polish, 132 on the german, 300 on the english and 1.778 (across four threads) on the american forums, we're at well over 2.000 posts without any Blizzard reply. That's a total of seven spotlighted "popular" threads and over 110 pages full of comments.

Just look at this, the lead designer of Battle.net 0.2 clearly never has touched battle.net 1.0, bet he spent his life playing console games. And then he mentions where they took ideas in this exact order XBOX Live -> Playstation Network -> Steam... Go to 5.15 http://www.g4tv.com/videos/44223/starcraft-ii-beta-interview-greg-canessa/

Yeah the map searching, jesus. It's so hard to find a map sometimes, I keep on playing the same maps because I can find them in "recently played" but looking for a new one is real pain in the ass. Why is there no "(current) ladder maps" option?

DotA2 has a lot of promise as an eSport and I can see it being even more successful than SC2, honestly. I'll be using my HotS money towards DotA2, unless they completely fix the BNET UI. Regarding DotA2 as an eSport, it will eclipse SC2. Of course my assumption for that statement is DotA2 > DotA. Just look at how well DotA did, within the confines of WC3.

They take the professional scene for granted and a way to milk money out of the fanbase. Spot on, the only thing I would add is they are trying to find way to basically rob us out of our money by charging for such a simple thing like changing your username! What a bunch of corporate titans with no feel for the game or community this company has become!

I'm one of the few people here that has openly stated that things would have to drastically change or I won't be purchasing HotS and If I'm a minority here in TL, than how miniscule do you think our position is? CoD boycott was the same, people on the internet are nothing but talk.

I think many people share your view - sadly not me, I really want those new units and play the game competetively. Anyhow, even if we all will buy HotS (we all aint gonna do it) blizzard will react to enough criticism. We asked for name change, we got it eventually, long ago we asked for chat channels, we got it eventually. And this is a huge thing we're doing here, I swear they wont ignore it.

I don't share your optimism. We didn't "ask" for chat channels; the forums erupted and gaming media scoffed Blizzard for the audacity of not releasing chat. This and Real ID were the two major things were the community really had a single opinion (except for some trolls here and there) and where the media joined in. The name change? We didn't get name change. Blizzard decided to grace us with a single free change, and this after ignoring the topic for over a year despite the same functionality existing in WoW and people willing to actually shell out money for this travesty. Seriously, players literally begged on the forums for Blizzard to implement a paid name change so that they could throw money at them. This interface discussion? It's not huge. It's large, I'll admit, and by forum standards, it's also getting pretty long lived. But just take a look at this thread. Or the official forums. The majority doesn't care. A vocal minority even enjoys being cheated as a consumer and will happily and loudly defend their right to get less features for their cash. Do not trust Blizzard. Don't assume they "won't ignore it". Because they can, and chances are they will. Don't be surprised if Blizzard never reacts. And don't get your hopes up if they do. Heck, even if they respond and acknowledge the whole thing - they'll probably release HotS as some half-assed product and promise improvements for LotV. Dedicated gamers are no longer Blizzard's target demographic. We're too choosy, our expectations are too high, and we're high-maintenance. Doesn't mean there are no games for us, just means it's probably not going to be Blizzard titles for all eternity. We'll keep this discussion going - at least I will - and I hope we'll also manage to keep the threads on the official boards alive, and maybe we'll see a blue response some day. But don't blindly hope for a good ending. There's a high probability we won't get one.
