this is exactly the reason i have been making the jacki chan face since bnet 0.2 came out

Seeing as they release one game every two years or so, that might not be a very efficient way of getting what we want...

what if all people searched a game on the ladder at the same time trying to crash the battle.net servers That would sent a strong message to blizzard. A angry coordinated flash mob on the internet can cause a lot of damage.

I want sc2 to succeed, but not with this kind of bnet ;__;

Would really like a tournament feature Has any "blue" already responded to any of the topics on bnet?
Really good writeup and agree with the most part

No blue has responded as of yet, sadly. But they will if we keep fighting for what we want, im sure

Yep. I agree 100% with everything you sais. Bnet is missing so many things. Have some of you played the DotA2 beta? When i first played it i thought "woooow all those cool features are missing in sc2" (features like watching replays together, slomo in replays, watch any game ever played through cloud, overall better party system, better player reporting, watching games "live" with 2 mins delay, and so on and so forth)...
|
This is true shit. We need to assemble as a community against this.

They should bring back W/L ratio for all leagues

The current bnet is just okay, its not as bad as most people think. the matchmaking system is so good that it almost makes up for everything else.
I could see bnet 2.0 being amazing down the road though. I know that isn't an excuse but there's a lot of room for growth that we'll probably see in hots or lotv

guys, I think blizzard already designed the ui we are looking for. They are not releasing it, just because they wish you to buy Hots. If I was a lustful (for money) society I would make a complete game and then release it on parts to get all the income I could (dlc anyone? )

God I hope you are right. I'm at the point where I don't care if it's going to cost us money, just put that shit in. And yes I get it this is exactly what Blizzard wants. Get us to the point of not caring what it costs so when they do release HotS we will come in droves to buy it.

It's post like yours that encourage blizzard to have this thuggish attitude.

Seems like a bad marketing strategy to me. Because all the missing features listed in this OP are features that would maintain your user base until you can get the expansion out. Without it, you're going to have a big drop-off and bad word of mouth (amongst the ums map making community for instance). With it, you generate a lot of buzz that sustains a lot of momentum.
Maybe not as crucial, but think if they delayed SC2's multiplayer as a marketing strategy to get people to buy HotS. Bad idea because multiplayer is what makes gives SC2 tremendous replayablility. It's all the wrong features to delay to get people to buy an expansion. I don't know why they aren't in Wings, but I don't think it was for Machevellian reasons.

I agree with your conclusion here.
I suspect the most likely reason is also the most obvious - incompetence
edit.. lol i need to stop posting in this thread it is just making me angry :/

Were you around for Broodwar or Warcraft III? Those games are a decade old and they offer more features and a more complete product than Starcraft 2. It's completely unacceptable that Blizzard can't even put out a product that's comparable, much less better. Yes, it is as bad as we think and no, it's not ok.
And I'm of the opinion that it's not incompetence. It's a business strategy that doesn't give a damn about long term growth or any sustainable user base. Make a ton of promises, collect everyone's $60, and then charge them even more to fulfill those promises.
I have no problem with a company wanting to make as much money as possible. What's obnoxious about this is that someone actually thinks charging more for less is an acceptable way to do that. It's insulting that they think our memories are so short we won't remember Bnet 1.0 and realize that 2.0 is a giant ripoff.

Also, this whole resurgence makes me want to start reworking my ideas and photoshopping a new design doc. UIs from several games, especially Dota 2, seem to have gotten these concepts right and I'll be using them/fellow nerd baller's input as inspiration as I put it together.
A couple minor ideas that occurred to me: - Auto-login option, requires a 'logout' menu option - Rclick to join lobby of friend (ala steam) A "Find Tournament" button, in addition to our "Find Match". System puts you in a queue and creates a 8/16/32 man tournament with players of similar MMR's. Once a tourney is found, it takes you to a beautiful lobby screen that has the bracket, settings for the different rounds, map pool, etc. Completely automated by bnet, similar to playing in sit-n-go tourneys on popular poker programs. A "Practice Ladder" button. Lets you also choose the race of your opponent, what map you want to practice on. Based off your MMR, has no impact on "Ranked" ladder points and your MMR. oh yes pleeeease!
I can't even express how much I would enjoy those features being included with SC2. Though I have a feeling they would never create a practice ladder as it would split the competitive community and increase queue times.
A find tournament option that works as you expressed would be so amazing, so, so amazing.
