If this hadn't of been posted then I would have never known it would happen. Isn't that the point of news?
Very unprofessional of Stephano. Overbooks tournaments and then blames the tournament organizers for his own mistakes. I wasn't really a fan anyways, but now I'm more-so not a fan.

seems like a healthy sleep is more worth to him than 1000 dollar. no big deal, just drama drama drama *sigh* catz and illusion should be happy, the viewers got their games. so who is the loser now`? just the guy throwing away his money

It is unfortunate that Stephano felt unable to compete and perhaps slightly unprofessional depending on how exactly he communicated this and what the time schedule planned ahead of the event was. None the less, he told the tournament organizers that he couldn't do it that day and chose to forfeit if accommodations couldn't be made. The tournament decided they couldn't change the schedule, so he forfeits and his place goes to the next highest placing player. Seems pretty reasonable on all accounts. well the way it's talked about on here is that he sent a message saying play another day or i forfeit and then logged off, as in giving ONOG an ultimatum. how is that reasonable? Its efficient, that how. Rather than blah blah for 20 minutes, Stephano, said.... Play tomorrow, or I forfeit.... I can't go on. They say, can't play tomorrow. That means forfeit. That's the facts The rest is window dressing and terminology.... wasted APM. Stephano doesn't bluff!
lol you certainly know how to spin the 'facts', that's for sure.

I don't blame Stephano (but not ideal behaviour) and I think ONOG's decision was right as well. Maybe we can have an esports drama where both sides can live with it?

He is only a human being after all and he needs to sleep. I feel like he didn't do anything wrong and that he's being wrongly accused of being BM. I believe stephano doesn't go to school afaik he's still in secondary school as he often stated that his goal in sc2 is to make as much money before finishing secondary school/retire from gaming and going to university Didn't he take a year off for progaming, and was then gonna return to school and study Medicine?

iirc and according to liquipedia, he took one year off to play starcraft before going to university.
He already finished school.

Then why accept the invite to the tournament? The tournament wasn't delayed until Stephano delayed it, the blame was on him and the community has all the right to be upset about it.

Can we also please get an explanation on why Liquid Tyler did not finish his games in the group stages? Nothing against him personally, but if we need to spotlight this incident, we cannot hold a double standard and ignore another player who essentially did the same thing as Stephano

You really think TL posted this for website views? lol
People complain about no reporting on incidents/drama
Make summary threads about drama/incidents to help inform the public - people complain about hounding for attention to the website

Sucks the most for Violet imo

I don't really have an opinion on who is right or wrong and whether or to what extent Stephano should be punished. I just think that the brutal honesty coming from players like Stephano and Naniwa is quite amusing because if I was in their position I'm pretty sure I would "lie" my way out of those situations and no one would notice. In Stephanos situation I would have just said that I was feeling really sick and about to pass out and no one would even think of saying anything against him forfeiting the tournament.

This is exactly what went through my mind...
I think it was just a sad coincidence, and it should not have happend. Maybe they could have delayed the tournament? I don't know the exact circumstances, but thats what I think.

lol onog worst tournament ever lol
horrible player pool boring matches and not even able to delay the finals (that would have had at least the potential to be a really good game)
tzzz and taking the 2nd place away from him is just ridiculous since they were not able to delay it and if he wants to forfeit he can do that right? to put catz and illusion above him also makes the result of the tournament ridiculously unrealistic lol

Stephano and Tyler forfeiting is just in poor taste. I understand why both of them did but as proffesional gamers they should have the foresight to understand what their commitment entails. They should both be punished by their teams and ONOG. ONOG should give neither prize money and not invite either to any future tourneys. Teams should repimand them in a pr release at the very least.
|
Both parties are perfectly fine in their decision, no need for drama.

I honestly think Stephano doesn't give a fuck about this and just shrugged it off. For him it's just about the money and less about the prestige of winning a tournament. The only time he'll really care about it is when he'll get denied to enter a tournament because of previous bad behaviour toward tournament organizers.
Naniwa kind is the opposite of that, for him even if he won a tournament of a million dollars but the skill level was fairly low he woudln't be satisfied at all. He doesn't care about anything but winning (kinda).
|
fuck all you dickheads! stephano can do what he wants, he was tired so fucking deal with it! this is hyped up soo much more than it needs to be.. he got tired.. hes a human, that happens to us all, especially after he just played a very long tournament which he won!

Just stop inviting players with such a behavior and all problems are solved!
|
Just like in the situation with Naniwa I am in the player's side ( this time Stephano ). He can choose when he plays and when he does not, and if he feels the conditions for him are not optimal ( being tired in this case ) he should not play. The tournament organisers should act accordingly to their rules and if there is no specific point about forfeiting, then he should just simply be awarded with 2nd place, as he rightfully earned it.
