Your joking right? Don't tell me your serious...

Most of the Koreans consider him the best European Zerg, and code S material.

How so?

He never participated in a korean tournament in Korea.

....Blizzard Cup?

wow how can you ask for delay, and then reject going to the delayed time later...? LOL Seriously, I do not believe they are big-shots-enough to be getting away with these forfeits. Like with Naniwa, I am so upset with these (although I have not seen Stephano play and probably will not). Koreans really have a better attitude to be honest, you never see this kind of crap with them, and they are modest and GG at the pro level.

Right now the only respectable foreign players are Thorzain (did well in team league against good players), Jinro (actually made it to code S legitimately), Huk (also made it to code S without shortcuts)....I cannot think of any more atm. But in reality the only good foreign player is Thorzain as I feel Jinro and Idra cannot keep up anymore.

Exactly. He only did better than a korean who isn't even stable in Code A.

Oh, the hate...
Are you gonna judge him on some BO1 games,
koreans are judging him from his stream and ladder practice in korea, even nestea said that stephano is the best player outside of korea. I don't understand how can some people still undermine his achievements.

He better take all the money he can get. Mannered, respecful, on time, Koreans are flocking to Europe and will crush him in every big money tounament soon. Like that SK deal with MC.

Even if that's true, that's not saying much considering there's easily 40-50 (or maybe 60) players better than him.

Edited my former post, HerO is in Code A.

And I don't hate Stephano, the hell are you smoking? How can I hate someone I don't even know just because he doesn't play videogames as good as the best players?

I'm just puzzled why people get so worked up over a player who could at best get a 1-4 in Ro32 of Code S or would have troubles not falling off of Code A, which are the most competitive and prestigious tournaments at the moment.

To cite an example, it's like people making a big deal about the korean soccer league. No one cares because they aren't important and nowhere near the best in the world.

I guess only some koreans make a big deal of it, the same way only some foreigners get so amazed by Stephano.

2 good reddit quotes

EGiNcontroL
It's really sad/dumb to read the top comment and see "he doesn't mean it." Come on, why even make that assumption? This apology whether he made it in blood or not is the RIGHT thing to do. So tired of people getting upset over something a public figure does and then when they apologize people go "well, it isn't real.."

And YES that is a bit of angst left over from personal experience. Give the guy a break and lets move on.

bigbeau
Yeah I actually agree with you. With the community it's gotten to the point where the is no correct response to anything, other than never make a mistake originally. If you apologize, you're called fake, and if you don't, everyone says you don't care about 'esports'. If you tell people information, you're a bad guy for leaking personal things, if you don't, people bitch about not having information about players. The list goes on and on.

Basically, it's become if you try to do anything, but fail or stumble along the way, you're fucked.

Well, it's more like if you screw up, you piss some people off, and they voice their opinion. When you apologize, you piss a different subset of people off, and then they voice their opinion. You're still better off, but people generally perfer to post and scream on TL/reddit when they're criticizing someone rather than praising them. It's not a phenomenon related to eSports. It's related to being a public figure. If you want to be a progamer, you just have to be able to deal with it.

Not really. Something you, InControL and a slew of other misinformed people are... missing here is his mindset plays into this. Otherwise I wouldn't have called it half-hearted. If you follow Stephano at all you'd know he's in this for the money and nothing else, he'll be gone from this scene most likely permanently in a couple years (His own words), because he is saving up cash for higher education. The only thing this could possibly affect for him is stream viewers and potential tournament invites and that's why he came out with an apology.

If you think he's sincerely deeply saddened you're really ignorant. He made a decision he thinks was the best for himself and is living on. Doesn't change the fact that he doesn't really care.

it's funny how someone who only practices 3 hours a day is considered the best foreigner.

Yeah that's why Polt forfeited his finals in Zotac cup (which gets the return on their invested money from streaming like every other cup) against Bly and turned down the opportunity for viewers to see a finals, only to play in another cup where more money was involved (Polarfluke cup).

It's common business here and koreans aren't different, you shouldn't be deceived by their ability to read properly the text their team taught them in interviews, and make the difference between etiquette and actual feelings. It has nothing to do with a "korean" spirit and a "foreigner" spirit, they're the same, only one take care of hidding it because their organisation has more experience with how to deal with things in esport, rather than most foreigners who are freshly out of the "I'm playing video games for the lulz" cradle, or organisations coming from outside esport with the money and expecting things without any experience on the matter.

As a matter of fact look at Alive who caused all the drama between TSL and Fnatic since himself initiated the move to look for Fnatic in the middle of the negociation of a partnership between TSL and Fnatic.

By your (stu...) logic teamliquid should never talk about any foreign progamer ever.

Reminds me how bad Lugano is when he has to play in a better championship than turkey, is really this guy the uruguay captain ?
Stop saying so meaning less things. Who wuold yo place above him ? I see only Huk and Naniwa who could pretend, and i still think steph is better.
