Because he screwed the tournament creators out of the most important match of the entire tournament. Because he had made too many commitments. It's Stephanos fault, it seems the tournament creators did basically everything they could to accomodate him, and even so, he screwed them over.

This topic was already discussed to bits in the tournament thread, you should all start by reading it.

going to bed is an unintended scheduling conflict?

Same as naniwa. I still think he is a really great player, but he should have played the games; i lost a lot of the respect I had for him. Nice of ONOG to move him 4th and play semi and finals this way. Good thinking here
|
He overbooked himself for a weekend, and then decided he would no longer be able to play in the finals. He hasn't even objected to being DQ'd, and seems to have accepted it as fair. It sucks for ONOG, but a player should absolutely be allowed to forfeit a match they don't feel they're able to play.
|
Oh how we all seem to love drama lol, so much in fact, that it has to be on the front page of TL Bit disappointing tbh

It's unfortunate but if Stephano wants to forfeit his match then that's his choice. This is really being made into a bigger deal than it needs to be.

Plus, Kas shouldn't have to play someone who was already knocked out to win the tourney. Since the opponent was Illusion, I guess it wasn't that big of a deal. However, what if Stephano had knocked out someone like Huk? Suddenly Kas would be put into a really shitty position where he could lose to someone who isn't even supposed to be in the tourney anymore.

The purpose of the thread is to provide information that summarizes a bunch of sources. Do you really feel its more appropriate for users to dig through 200+ pages to find information in a live report thread? Besides, this thread includes information and links that you can't find in the ONOG LR thread anyway.
Since when is more information, especially information that is easily accessible, and reporting with actual sources a bad thing?

It was 2.30 AM and stephano had to be in school at 8.00, so if he would wait for 3rd place finishers and then play long finals he could go sleep at best at about 5.00-6.00 and he would only get 1-2 hours of sleep. He is only a human being after all and he needs to sleep. I feel like he didn't do anything wrong and that he's being wrongly accused of being BM.

i dont see why peaople thinks this is wrong?
Come on, Stephano is French if you know what i mean, srsly.

Yeah I can't support Stephanos decision to forfeit the match... If you are going to forfeit then don't let them run late on your behalf and then tell them that it is to late and that you will forfeit. That is just bad manners,
|
I have never thought of stephano as a humble player judging from his past actions. Forfeiting this tournament because he was tired certainly doesn't help him.
|
He spent $1350 to go to sleep, I think the kid was tired.
He stated to them, immediately after the semi's, that he couldn't stay up any longer. He could have feined illness, or internet dropout.. but he didn't.
Only he knows how he felt, and he felt he couldn't play on, even though he was going to probably win $1500.
His sin is he over-committed, and was so good he got the the finals of both tournaments. This isn't a problem for anyone else, if he lost occasionally, or lied, he'd be better off.
Enjoy Stephano while you got him SC2.... drama and all.

I honestly think Stephano should've apologized. It might be a small tournament for him but it took a lot of time and money for them to organize it.

I believe stephano doesn't go to school

I don't see what the big deal is. It is unfortunate that Stephano felt unable to compete and perhaps slightly unprofessional depending on how exactly he communicated this and what the time schedule planned ahead of the event was. None the less, he told the tournament organizers that he couldn't do it that day and chose to forfeit if accommodations couldn't be made. The tournament decided they couldn't change the schedule, so he forfeits and his place goes to the next highest placing player. Seems pretty reasonable on all accounts.

What a joke. If every player blew off tournaments like Stephano did this one, we would never have any real finals.
