I don't play Protoss, and a lot of the complaints I generally hear are based around the 'limited' tech path of P, or rather, the rigidity.
So, what if...
Say the Cybernetics Core is a T1 building.
Robo, Stargate, Council = T2 Bay, Beacon, Archives/Dark = T3
Building any T2 building allows toss to build any T3 building? Then the units are built from the level three buildings. Upgrades would need to be reworked... ;~;
Just a random idea.

you guys didint use carriers for 1 year and now whine why blizz removing them ;(

Especially when people call for blizz to remove the functional colossus to keep the dysfunctional carrier. Nostalgia is a bit too strong with them.

Or maybe it used to be a micro-able unit that promoted skill that never once got a patch? Even the so-called throw away unit, the Archon got a patch or two. And yet without touching it once, they're going to remove it. The good news is that it's not written stone. That David Kim interview suggests that they keep taking it in and out of HotS.

Or some people really hate the 1A Colossus play.

Please at least read the thread =( (not the whole thread, just the OP!)
The objection to the removal of the carrier has nothing to do with use. The objection to removing the carrier has to do with Blizzard giving *a lot* more effort to other underused units, while doing nothing for the Carrier over the course of all of SC2. Not a single carrier patch. The Carrier isn't used for the same reason that units like the ultralisk and infestor were not used. They just...weren't really all that good. But if Carriers were able to attack while moving, perhaps also had a speed boost, the Carrier would quickly become a very useful unit in the Protoss arsenal. The Carrier has extreme intrinsic value as a staple in the Starcraft universe, as many have noted. For a unit like this to not at least get the effort of Blizzard's patching is a tragedy. It should not be removed, as Blizzard hasn't even given us a shot to make it useful.

I don't even like protoss and I think they should work the carrier before abandoning an unpatched unit. It deserves to be in the game.

Honestly buffing the carrier seems like it would just further promote the Toss "deathball" syndrome. The huge interceptor swarms combined with the zealots underneath would soak up insane amounts of damage and would just make the AoE from the HT/Colossi late game even more effective.

The Carrier needs to be fixed, yes, but the idea of tossing a unit in the trash without even trying to fix it is silly.
If they do toss the Carrier in the trash for HoTS though I won't be to upset over it seeing as how I never use them in 1v1 anyway.
And on the topic of tossing out a major Protoss iconic unit that symbolizes the entire race is silly. The unit would obviously still be in the game, but not in the Player vs Player part of the game, (custom games aside). I could see them in a Protoss campaign mission in HoTS and we would definitely see them in Legacy of the Void campaigns, (look at all the Terran BW units that are out of Player vs Player, but are in WoL campaign). And from a lore standpoint where a major iconic Protoss unit would be removed, thats where the argument belongs and should stay, in the campaign.
If the unit is broken to the point where they see to remove it, let them. Just keep it in the game for the campaign

Archon is a good point of reference actually. It received iirc a change to become massive and break ffs/concussive shells, and had a +1 range boost right? Those relatively small changes made the archon a really useful unit that had been sorely neglected beforehand.
All most of us ask is that Blizzard try to do the same for the Carrier as it has the capacity to be a really interesting, skill-rewarding unit.

Reading this makes me feel much better, knowing that no matter what happens in HotS, MC can still roll Carrier in the Monobattle Arena of Legends and own everyone.

Carrier is why I play Protoss.

I don't understand you people. On one hand you go on about how SC2 and BW are different games and "if you want BW then play BW," but then you turn around and cry when Blizzard wants to remove BW units in favor of new SC2 stuff. Do you want a new game or not?

The Carrier has already been made a part of SC2. The Carrier is also widely considered the iconic unit of Protoss, similar to the Zergling or Siege Tank. The issue is Blizzard fixing every other underused unit except for the Carrier, despite it holding such status.

The people who want the carrier to stay are mostly the same people who make threads like "Why the lurker would be great in SC2" and "Get rid of colossus for reaver." The SC2 community is pretty split.

They can't fix it. It was irreparably broken to begin with. You know what you can do to see all your favorite iconic units? Watch BW. Horang2 just made carriers in a game today.

Hey, the Carrier IS a Starcraft 2 unit. It's like we would fight for the removal of an unpatched phoenix + nostalgia.

You understand the blizzard intentionally left many units from BW in SC2 because the fans need them. They need to connect with the game with other things other than just the title.
And you would be happy if they removed the marine for you, right? And the zergling....and every BW unit. It's called StarCrat 2. STARCRAFT, with a 2.
Imagine if they made an alien movie with the predator. "Hey, those who want to see the alien in this alien movie go see the previous. This is the new one.LAME!

Yeah nice write!!! OP absolut convinced me, blizz u can do it. Bring the carrier back into play. Zerg player here and tears came to my eyes when i think about sc1 and the carrier... loved enemy ... long time no see
For me as a bad player but an absolut fan of SC-Universe (since release of sc1), there is no future for SC without the carrier. Like OP already saied it, this unit is sooooo hard part of this game ... i wouldn't be the same without.
Please Blizzard... stick to your guns.... you can bring us the carrier back !!!!

It doesn't matter what the fans want because A) fans can't even agree on what they want and B) Blizzard doesn't care. The carrier in SC2 is like a square peg for a round hole. The only way to fix it is by making the matchups more similar to how they were in BW where the carrier was useful, and Blizzard has said outright that they have no intention of doing that. What unit icon do you see next to NesTea? Yeah the one that only gets built slightly more often than the carrier.
