The open bracket is now tougher than ever considering pool play is "doubled." What I mean is that they now have to get by the bottom 16 from the arenas before they can even play the top 16. We need some more details regarding the invitational system.. Yes, extremely tough. This is why the open bracket is shaped as a flask. ![]() LOL well played.

Do we have confirmation if people can participate in multiple arena qualifiers? If so, I think Winter Arena is going to be stacked by Koreans. You can only participate in one, and that must be where your MLG provided flight leaves from, or you just get a $400 stipend. If thats the case then there prolly will be teams that will have their players perform in several qualifiers if they dont make it on the first try, and just simply pay the players air-flight themself. Atleast the big teams could do that. Also there will be some imbaness about the continent that have their local qualifier first, since they can still decide after the first qualifier has been done if they want do what i just said above. While the other continents will miss some qualifiers or hope their star player makes the local qualifier without any more qualifiers coming.

Or is Kr to Eu latency worse?

If a player registered for an event does not show up, their opponent would get a bye for the round, presumably. Perhaps they would move another player from the online-qualifiers into the empty spot. We'll have to see if any qualify and opt not to take the trip.

Because if it is just to the winter arena, what would happen in a situation where 5-8 of the koreans competing do not show up at the MLG event? it would be dumb to qualify and not show up to the championship where most of the heavy money is at.

These are people advancing undefeated from the Open Bracket. I am assuming it will be 8 spots (for a total of 24, 6 per pool). But it's possible they'll choose to do 20 total spots like they did for Halo and the other titles last season. That is yet to be determined.

I was trying to keep it as clean as possible and assumed people were familiar with the MLG pool play / open bracket system, but it made the graphic unclear for those that didn't. Note: It'll in all likelihood be the same as last year, with players entering into the Championship Losers Bracket from the Open Bracket. Still double elimination, etc.

They're hoping players travel twice out to America, once for a non-spectator event and once for the usual event as last year. I'm not sure how many players from Korea or even Europe will actually go to all 8 over the course of 2012. If they qualify its all paid for, why would they not come?
