32 will be in round 1 (8 4 man groups). Top 2 will advance into stage two which will add the seeds in (4 5 man groups).
The tournament is sort of designed to get harder and harder as it goes on.

My only fear is that the lack of Code A spot could discourage several top-notch koreans from participating

Most "top notch" Koreans are already Code A/S. Also if they are not they will be needing money most likely.

Will be the Ro32 group stages be a Round Robin as well or is it the same format as the GSL (Winners match, Losers match, Winner vs Loser).

What about 'pointless games', will they be played out or just skipped? Considering you took out Code A because of the CoCa/Byun situation, I'd assume it'd be skipped so there won't be any drama.

"Pointless" games will have the option to not be played (up to the players) but if the game is meaningful in ANY way (even if it does not directly effect the players of that game) it has to be played.
With a round robin format you should not have many pointless games.
Edit: It seems the boys over in LP have been hard at work.

Thank you very much ^^!

Sucks about the removal of Code A slot, but the higher prize pool totally makes up for it. Good luck ESV and Diamond! :D

Honestly have not watched it. My normal sleep schedule is 7AM-1PM EST which makes it unwatchable to me. Might check out some VOD's. Seems like a good thing going on.

I hope Orb casts it. He is by far the best Korean Weekly caster, imo.

As someone who watches every single KSL and Korean Weekly, as of right now the two tournaments are really only rivals in the sense that one is backed by Twitch and the other by own3d. They're currently occupying two separate niches, however I could really see both of them evolving to the point where they would be occupying the same niches (especially with the growth both have shown pretty rapidly).
However, what I really like about them both is that they provide more tournaments from Korea outside the GSL. In what I think is a really classy move by own3d as well, they don't broadcast anywhere near the same time as the Korean Weekly, instead seemingly targeting the European audience I believe (even though this means I have to be up at 8 am to watch it -_-)
Having the pleasure of speaking with Diamond on a sporadic basis, and talking to Reis over at the KSL very frequently I can confidently say that they're both really working hard to bring you guys great Korean content on a frequent basis.

Sounds good to me. Very wise move taking away the code A spot IMO, and the tournament could become even more interesting in the future if a spot in a foreign tournament were to become available.
|
Sounds great. I'll be watching! :D
Edit: And I think the possible addition of a seed to a foreign tournament like DH is a great idea, since (from what I've read in interviews and stuff) a lot of Koreans want the chance to participate in tournaments outside Korea.
