Really excited to see the ESV Grand Prix :D

Should be some insane competition. Just curious though, do you know how you're going to handle the player list if Taeja someone breaks into the Top 4 multiple times?

Yep. Actually two fold.

1: The player that qualifies multiple times is completely ignored aside for the first time they qualified for the highest seed out of the bunch. Go down the list after. This is no different then before.

2: Players that qualify for a top seed multiple times (ie: multiple 1st place finishes) will get the reward of having a completely clear group (2nd seed gets moved to the pool of selectable players) and will pick their entire group first.

So for Grand Prix #1, Taeja will start in Group 1 with 1st seed, and will pick his entire group before any other picks. Crank with a 1st place finish could be right in line also.

So what happens if there is an odd number of slots? Would you have to have players play like 5-6 place matches?

We could. However I will go through a list of things like overall win records. So far I think everything is fine, I'm actually working on the current list atm, so give me a few and you will see what's up.

Edit: Errr I was wrong about Crank in a previous post.

What ever happened to the korean weekly seeding into GSL? I remember seeing an announcement about that, but I guess i didn't follow it closely enough. Is that no longer active?

My apologies, I must have missed that. I really respect what you are doing for the community, and it takes a lot of guts to build your brand without the support of the GSL code A spot. Its going to be harder, but I think you guys have a strong future with the weekly.

Keep up the good work, I love watching the break through players in your tournys. With the larger prize pool hopefully we will see some of the higher class Code S players play more often .

You should probably edit the info about the Code A slot into the OP though. That way dumbies like me can easily find it and won't ask over and over .

Are you going to be taking foreign seeds who are in Korea, or just any foreign player?

Likely only foreigners in Korea due to latency concerns and time zone differences. However if a situation comes up where the right option is in NA or EU and can overcome those factors, I would consider it.

Just to be clear though, the ones living in Korea will get priority.

I'm wayyyy confused about the format. 36 Players, with 8 weekly winners, 2 foreign seeds, 2 previous champions...where do the other 24 players come from? How do you do dual-group format with an odd number of players per group? Are some players autoseeded into the RO8?

The loss of the code A spot is really no big deal. With the expansion of code A to 48 players, getting to the preliminaries isn't as difficult as it used to be. fOrGG qualified for code A without playing a single notable player, for example.

Top 4 from each week (or highest ranked).

When my production guy gets home I'll have a much nicer diagram.

Also the 4 invites (foreigner, previous champs) will seed directly into the second group stage which will be 5 person groups.

The Top 4 of each weekly, so 3 x 8 = 24

There's your missing players

Happy to see Revival and Symbol in the first Grand Prix, hopefully Heart can qualify as well, I don't get to see enough of his play.

Diamond, I've found that the format or brackets have been difficult to follow on a regular basis. Not only because many times all the weeklies will have a single thread, but often the brackets in the opening post are from the week prior or are not updated. I enjoy watching the games and I've enjoyed Orb's casting a ton but I feel like a dedicated format that the fans can easily follow is necessary for fans to enjoy the ESV weeklies more.

I feel like having someone dedicated to the upkeep of Liquipedia brackets with a simple link to said bracket in a new opening post each week would be superior in every way, but it doesn't seem possible, or not easy anyway, for someone to create Liquipedia brackets that are accurate and timely with the way the weekly and its challonge brackets are currently presented.

Just my two cents and you have my support either way.

I don't really understand the format. BUT, this was awesome last time, so I have faith that this will kick butt again.

Starting with the very last Weekly of the year, I've started doing weekly LR threads so it doesn't all get jumbled up in one thread like that. See here
