I think the ultimate solution is for all pro teams to move to one area but i haven't put enough thought into how realistic that idea is. If there was a clause in their contract that they had to work out...but that might be more draconian than I like.

For example in GSL(easlier seasons), Jinro looked awesome. GOMTV have stylists who spiked his hair, and made him look pretty damn good. Same with many of the other foreigners there...I recall KellyMilkies saying she had a really good time with the stylists at GOMTV. As for other events it seems to me that the gamers are pretty much on their own, presentation-wise. The likelihood appears low that MLG, Dreamhack etc, would hire hairstylists, makeup artists etc. Looks is a pretty subjective thing so one man's urban style is another man's ghetto. But who knows, maybe we'll start seeing players dress up in suit/tie but for now we'll probably just see plain clothes and/or casual wear for the foreseeable future.

But in all seriousness I think that the OP is true. Western idea of gamer is a hermit, someone who spends all their time alone, on their computer just doing pointless things. I think that sex appeal could give a false sense of respect but I think in order to truly get the respect we deserve we need proof that video games are positive on learning and skills much like music or the arts.

do you mean medically overweight or just fat? cause i would think a lot of pro gamers would be considered "overweight" in the bmi. its a pretty silly system but im just going by technicalities here anyways. i think most pro gamers have a pretty healthy weight. i'd actually say there are more that could stand from gaining some weight than losing weight

The real question is why aren't you number 1 on studcraft?
