looks/style? Sase, tasteless(not a progamer),

charisma? Day 9, maybe incontrol

skills: well here there are a few, huk, idra, thorzain, etc.

But look at these three main categories, which foreign progamer can embrace all of these categories and drive the scene forward?

MadFrog would probably have fit into all three categories, though unfortunately he stopped playing. Then you have some players that fit well into two of them, such as Thorzain.

However, I would say that Hero fits into all three categories, just maybe lacking some charisma but no more lacking than Boxer was for his first pro year.
I can no longer rest under the tree of wisdom, since you have axed down the roots feeding it.

To tell you the truth the SC2 pros look fine IMO. I mean Idra, Jinro, Tyler, Tasteless, Machine, Demuslim, Huk and numerous other players look like normal to popular dudes from back in college/HS and I mean we all look a hell of a lot better than the MOBA pros, so as long as we aren't in last in the "looks" department I am fine with that.

HA! This made me die laughing. I think the western image issue is not with the eSports community, rather the issue is with the general populace that believes in the gaming stereotypes of poor people who live in their mothers basement. Change their opinions and then we are all set.

Gaming is socially acceptable in England. Console gaming at least. Especially this current generation because they've all grown up playing on them. People over here care so much about their consoles though that a lot don't even know what PC Gaming is nevermind E-Sports.

Dressing well and caring about the outward appearence too much is just not appealing to most people who like to play a computer game as a job. I see nothing bad in it, I always thought caring too much about dressing and haircut is shallow and I am not sure I would do it in my private life. If the teams start asking the players to do so and provide the means to do it it's different, but the fact being a progamer takes so much effort/time and the income is not as high as it would be compared to traditional sports makes it difficult for progamers to have an attractive look.

I can't think of another progamer that comes close to these two. I'm always suprised when I see how progamers dress, People like TLO, Destiny, Ret, Incontrol etc come across as normal down to earth people but when I see how they dress is makes me think otherwise.

how does their dress make them not "down to earth" or "normal" wtf?

lol

Well I guess it just comes across as strange to me, they are people with their finger on the pulse, yet when it comes dressing they appear (to me) like they don't have a clue what I means to be stylish. Maybe my attitude is a bit too judgemental as I live in South London, where most high streets are like catwalks.

I kinda agree with what you say, but not how you articulated it. I wouldn't say what they wear changes if they are down to earth or not. But it's true that there's very few stylish pro-gamers. The Koreans are actually way more stylish when it comes to clothes at least.

Not many look terrible, but their clothing is a bit geekish still. Or ordinary. I wouldn't expect Starcraft nerds that are concentrating most of their time on playing to be with the current fashion trends though tbh, or to care.

I'm from England too though, so maybe it's an American/European thing? I dunno.

Sorry if I came across as rude :/
I don't mean to be a snob or anything. I just feel the Korean pros value style more than rest, and it has a positive affect.

Look at Combatex. Guy is the fucking definition of style/charisma/skill.

I'd love to see him get picked up by a pro team, he definitely has the fan base and the skill to back it up.

No lzgamer and no Mr.bitter? Shame.

@OP, I agree that one day this will matter but I don't think that day is today. Esports isn't big enough. You could argue it would make it bigger, but I think atm it is more important that teams focus on playing better. I'm glad that EG house works out together tho.

lol, Sase has the best sense and his on the bottom, Greg and Huk are terrible? Maybe its just a popularity opion post.

I dont think OP means the metrosexual looks of the koreans, but rather that they arent looked upon like fatsos who does nothing but eat candy and play videogames all day.

So, not looking like July (burn!).

My point is this: where are the "fatsos who does nothing but eat candy and play videogames all day" among the progamers? There aren't a whole lot. Yes, there are some, but there are some Koreans who fit the same mold. The OP acts like there's a massive glut of glutenous progamers out there in the non-Korean scene, and that simply is not true.

For every "fatso" progamer, you can find 2-3 that isn't.

O-o

EG requires Jeans / jersey at all events which makes up 90% of any picture of me (incontrol on rocker's account).

I am by no means high fashion but what the fuck.. I am sorry I don't wear a stupid ass bowler cap and a scarf but I don't think that means I am not "down to earth."

Sorry but the reason i'm not a fan of Hero is clearly because I have the feeling he has such a soft personnality, and I prefer strong mentality than shy guys like Hero... So Hero is not at all charismatic, but that's just my opinion

Where?
On a side note, we should have a big major chauvinist sexist politically-incorrect vote for the girlfriends in esports. I'd say Slasher's girlfriend wins ezpz.
(but she should be disqualified, because Slasher has nothing to do with esports, and god damn it F%^# Slasher!)
