As long as he accepts GOM's way of dealing with it, nothing more should come of it. He should embrace that most asian cultures have a way more polite and respecting way of handling each other and keep that in mind. He's the guest in their culture which means he needs to conform to their standards.
The entire thing he did really isn't a big thing though imo. Like he said himself, had he simply done the quickest legit all-in there is out there and still lost, noone would've cared.

Global Starcraft League, i mean it has to be played in some country, it just happens to be in korea. Maybe they should play the games in space so we don't have to worry about all that jazz. Don't have a world wide tournament then expect every country to read the korean code of conduct. I mean it is common sense that you be respectful of whatever country you are in but he did not cross that boundary, not even close.

He probe rushes during his apologies, too.
|
I think if he actually put a modicum of effort into his probe rush, the backlash would not have been as intense.
Like others said, he boxed and a-moved, then took his hands off the keyboard. That's not playing, that's basically telling everyone (fans, his team, the tournament, sponsors etc.) to @#$% off. As others have said, it's "making a statement", and it frankly is a very aggressive and mean-spirited manuveur towards everyone.
As we see in the strategy forum, a well executed 6 pool or all-in is quite effective and requires a high level of micro (regardless of its chance of success). If someone 6 pooled, then A-moved all his drones/6 lings into an opponent's base while sitting back in his chair, then I would assume that the backlash would be the same as what happened with this probe rush.

OMG Eliminated for probe rush ? OMG If Nestea didn't die to probe, part of esports died with this probe rush

Lol. "People should get over it". Maybe you are just an amateur? Maybe you just realised what it's like to be in the public spotlight? I hope this interview was done before the apology. Otherwise the apology would be 200% null.

great interview, keep it coming

I don't blame Naniwa at all. This game can be extremely stressful and after close loss after close loss no doubt you're going to be really frustrated. Add in the fact that the matches were meaningless, and I wouldn't expect anyone to give 110% to the final match.
|
So Naniwa cannot play his best in practice?
I understand it probably isn't the same intensity as a tournament match, but getting a live match against nestea can at least be approached as a practice opportunity and he could have played it as such.
|
In professional basketball, often times a better team will have built an insurmountable lead by the 4th quarter and it becomes "garbage time". I think that this situation is very similar. Because the game Naniwa dropped was a best of one, it really doesn't mean much by itself. Winning that game would be like winning the 4th quarter of a basketball game--almost meaningless by itself without the other three quarters in consideration.
|
Naniwa can do what he wants. GOM is just on a power trip, but what else is new?
|
I used to buy the GSL tickets every season, but had been busy lately so I did not buy recent ones. I cannot believe Naniwa would do this, I do not want to pay to watch a probe rush seriously. It is something I can perform just as good and fail. Now it makes me uncertain about buying the tickets, nor will I stay up until 4am watching a probe rush stream. Naniwa should not be banned or anything, but the Hate is valid. He should have thought of the game as practice, and winning a match against Nestea is something good to have in the record.

What was nani doing after BlizzCup ? Playing Starcraft2 against korean Pros for training? TROLOLOL and he just forfeits to one of the greatest Zergs out there, not taking this opportunity to learn how to not forge expand against players better then average.

I understand people's hatred and dissapointment. I do not agree with it tho. Something i noticed which pissed me off, was the fact some people meant he shouldn't do something as stupid even tho they found the proberush funny. If they found it funny, what would be the problem? I thought this was about being entertained? Sure some might think: "Well i found it boring and wanted the full match". Well i hate TvT, no matter who it is cause i'm not entertained. Should i be throwing tantrums cause they play super long games? Now to the forfeiting part. Of course probe rushing seems like forfeiting. But had he done any kind of proxy play or anything, something i am sure Nestea would've stopped it, everyone would be happy, however the game would be just as boring wouldn't it?

Jesus, this guy...i soon hope you start to lose games so we dont have to see you again in the top.
|
I was extremely disappointed about my performance and I felt I let every foreigner down very hard with how I played
So he made up for it by taking his ball and going home........bravo, way to represent the foriegn players.
I just felt like it wouldn't satisfy the fans at all with playing half hearted.
I don't believe he considered the fans, the tournament organisers, the sponsers, or the other players at all.
with nothing at stake people can't show their best games Rubbish! How did this guy ever get sponsored? There are plenty of people who are good at starcraft, and many of them have a better attitude than this.
If I could do it again i would just 4 gate and then people wouldnt have complained A real chamion never gives up and accepts that losing is part of the learning process. Naniwa clearly has a lot to learn. (and he shouldn't be in S Code till he has learned it)

lol naniwa apologizes and then justifies his actions by pointing fingers at other players for doing the same thing
|
Insert meme picture of choice as background:
Disrespectful for not giving fans entertainment.
Ensuing drama supplies more entertainment than whole tournament.
