You didn't read properly. He could not advance. Thus he could not win the tournament.

Love Naniwa. Just people are overeacting so much and complaining just cause its him =/.

Don't blame him - In professional base ball they will walk amazing batters *ichiro* Before letting them hit. Massive let down for the fans but it happens anyways. Handegg teams will end games just straight up early, epriving* fans of their game - esp when teams are more than capable of making the last minute of a game last F O R E V E R.
And that's massive amounts of sponsorship money - player money - ad money gone. Huge implications for the teams and their supporters.
And you know what? It's accepted.
No one wants to see two dead men walking slap each other around for 15 minutes before a random retarded loss. I feel bad for naniwa going 0-2 and honestly. I'd be crushed if I were him.
Good luck man. <3

walk it off koreans...it won't hurt much longer

you really need to say that???
he wants to be the best,so why not use the opportunity to defeat one of the best zergs, again and again, in a big tournament like this regardless of the results?

I heard that naniwa will show up in next code S, hope he does his best next time. Did you not know that Nani played four games today just like everybody else? He lost the first three ones very narrowly and you say he didn't do his best? Get real. I mean the final game today. MINDSET Well... It's obvious that Nani will always do his best in a tournament. Especially in Korea as he really thinks that the best players are there. Why would he not do his best in Code S? It's all he's been talking about for almost a year's time now. Open your eyes man.. I know he's been trying so hard and he always wants to advance in code s. I also understand his feeling, But he need to reorganize his mind His mindset is fine. He wants to be the best and will do what it takes to get there. Don't ever doubt his will to fight for a win. 'Trying my best' is what he said, not what he did. I know it's meaningless game and hate that shoddy system. However as a fan, I want him to try as well as win the game. Throwing probes is so ridiculous. Surrender before game begins is much more reasonable.

Naniwa is essentially saying three things; he didn't feel like playing, other players did the same thing, and people are just upset because it's him.
Those points are all understandable, but there are some things he needs to consider:
1. This was an invite-only, "champion of the champions" kind of tournament. Gom made them play the match, even though they usually cancel meaningless matches in the up&down groups. Does Nani understand why Gom wanted them to play this game? Up&downs are only there to prepare for the next season, they're no tournament on their own. The Blizzard cup was incredibly hyped, it promised me 10 awesome games between 5 awesome players. We didn't get that today.
2. The situation with Stephano was different. He did not play in an invite-only, "champion of the champions" tournament. He did not have any remarkable history with ClouD. Stephano's team did not tweet about an upcoming "grudge match of the century". Does Naniwa understand the significance that people were looking forward to this match, specifically?
3. Yes, it's very likely that people are "hating just beacuse it's [you]". That is exactly why you should be very worried about it. Do you, Naniwa, understand who it is that pays you for playing this game? It's us. The viewers. Sure, not on the short run. Today it was Gom who paid you. But if you keep making people dislike you, then people will stop watching your matches. This is a spectator sport and therefore you need spectators. If nobody watches your matches, tournaments will stop inviting you. Your team will let you go if they feel your actions are detrimental to them. You need fans. Alienating your fans is a bad idea.
So yes, the match was meaningless. Instead of throwing it away and disappointing a lot of people, perhaps you should have treated it like a showmatch? Build carriers, make your zealots dance, build only cannons, or even offrace. You had a golden opportunity to gain fans and appreciation from fellow progamers. Instead you lost fans and upset the whole Korean scene which you aim to be part of.
You got something totally new though. Shit's hyped now because of Naniwas attitude.

Its MEANINGLESS just like if Nani was beating MVP over and over again in practise no one would take it seriously because the games are MEANINGLESS. In a competitive environment its increadibly hard to have any motivation to play a meaningless game in any situation, even more so when you just got eliminated from the tourny you wanted to win so badly.

Hah trust Nani to stir up 2 shitstorms in 3 tournaments? I don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for him.

Naniwa is right, other players do things like this in matches that don't mean anything, too. They are just a bit more subtle about it. And this match really did not matter at all. It's not like any other player benefitted or suffered a disadvantage because of it. As he said, he could've opted for an "acceptable" form of cheese or something, and wouldn't have gotten nearly half as much criticism. I rather like Naniwas blunt honesty. So because other players do something wrong its okay for him to do it. The only reason this became a bigger issue then those other instances was because there is alot of controversy behind naniwa recently. Its very very childish to think "because other players have done something wrong that means its okay if i do something wrong too" how old are you 12?

IMO he did what he did because he was shaken up after going 0-3, and now that hes up against Nestea he doesn't want to lose after creating hype for a grudge rematch between them. So he denies Nestea a proper victory by probe rushing to turn the game into a "who cares doesn't matter" type of game. Smart move imo. He would have been humiliated if he played a normal game and Nestea crushed him after going 0-3 already.
|
100% agree except on one point. It is a matter of professionalism to give at least a token effort. He should've 4-gated (as he said), and then it's a non-issue.

Because after losing 3 extremely close games that really mattered in the tournament, it's psychologically impossible for him to play on a good enough level to take down Nestea anyway.
