Much noise for nothing imo...

Who cares if he didn't want to play.

nope, I don't think I'm ever going to watch naniwa's games unless against a progamer I think I can learn from (aka: how that progamer's build owned naniwa so I can implement it into my own XvP games)

^_________^

That's a lie.
You're going to watch everyone, and you are going to root for his opponent SO SO hard.

If you remember, that's exactly how Idra gained his popularity. People just forget things like that when something new happens.

Lol.

Yeah it is a bit. THey may also told him that if he forfeited there would be a penalty of some sort, so this was his way of forfeiting without actually forfeiting.

Yeah. where's your source.

I don't have one, this is what happens when you're forced to make conclusions and assumptions with missing information. There's no source that says Naniwa knew this would be considered massively disrespectful to koreans and did it anyways, yet many people are working under that assumption.

so basically you put words into GOM's mouth when you don't know if they actually said anything 100%? K.

We all know how Koreans act about ESPORTS. Nani was too stupid to do such thing. He will prolly be punished by GOM

Yeah and starcraft is a game and only the result counts, so culture does not play a role in here. There is no rule that prohibits performing strategies with low win percentages, so your argument is invalid.

like I said, people made tons of assumptions here. Like saying he knew it would be disrespectful, which was pulled 100 percent out of their ass based on what they thought, just like I did. That's all anyone is doing here.

I don't think they should've made the players play a match that didnt mean anything. They were both going to be eliminated. There was no cash prize or points to be gained from this match.

10$ for just a week-long tournament was quite expensive,
I had hoped that I would get a rematch of Nestea vs Nani from MLG for that... <.<

People are saying that the koreans overreacted because it was a meaningless match, but Naniwa was the one that overreacted by making such a big deal out of having to play another game. Why not just play another match of the game you love against an opponent that people think very highly of and just try to make a good game out of it? Instead Naniwa was very childish (as he has tended to show in the past) and now this has exploded in his face.

He didn't overreact, he wanted it over with quickly, worker rushed, and then moved on. Overreacting would of been one of those bitch fits he normally pulls. He didnt' think it was a big deal, it just so happens he was wrong.

Did all you realize he GET PAID before the games for playing them?

If you understand it, but anyways want to make shitty arguments... ok... do whatever you want, but at least understand the facts of all this drama

Its 1 single game.. i dont understand why ppl make such a big deal out of this. Yea.. sure they paid money.. but they got to see other games.. so if one game doesnt meet their expectations.. why get so upset.. i rly think those ppl are the ones that are being childish

He did play, the fact that one of his games happened to be incredibly shitty doesn't change that.

Consequence will likely force him to go home, which I don't mind at all.

You people forget that he didnt break a SINGLE rule from GOMTV, why would they send him home?

he's assuming fallout from gom, his team, or startale would require him to go back home.

I don't really understand those that came to Naniwa's defence.

A progame team pays a player in exchange for him working to improve their image, through result or otherwise. Seeing as Quantic Gaming were hyping the match up minutes before game start, and having the match ending this way, you can't really say that they didnt take a hit in the face.

I feel that many people are underestimating what being a "professional" means. Maybe a good look at the SC:BW scene would help you see things better.

It's just the way it works, brah. Professional sports teams still play games after they know they aren't going to make the playoffs. Why not just man up and play the game when you know there's going to be this big of a backlash if you don't?

What? You can't be serious... is that "playing" a game for what you get paid previously?

If it is that, then they should stop paying him lol

Awful article. I am disgusted by the Korean community and its hypocritical moralistic attitude. I lost a lot of respect for MVP and Choya for their tweets as well. Nanis decision was plain stupid but these reactions are even worse.

You're kidding, right? They're spending a huge amount of time, money, and effort to make the GSL as professional as possible and Naniwa basically spit in their face and you're disappointed in THEM? That's ridiculous.

And for everyone saying "there was no rule against this!" Are you guys serious? There shouldn't HAVE to be a rule against something like this, you should be able to use your brain and figure out that it's a terrible idea.

Naniwa must scare the crap out of Korean society, they are weak to BM. The reaction he provoked is priceless.

No, he doesn't scare them in the slightest. He probably disgusts them like he disgusts half of the foreign community. There is a difference between BM (Idra, FBH, etc. that all have a good number of Korean fans) and just being a prick.

Well i was entertained. But this is leaning towards the comedic value side more than the entertained by the proffessional sport side. Ah well as long as naniwa brings in the results!
