If you know, how to work with WinRAR, there will be no problems with MPQ Editor. It's just other type of winrar

If this does work for you though, it won't be overwriting any blizzard files and won't be an issue when updating the game. There's also no telling if blizzard might disable this method again through a future patch. Of course, this won't solve your current problems of not being able to update. To solve that, either repair or reinstall the game.

Is there some kind of requirement that you have to open StarCraft through the exe file for it to work? My laptop doesn't have admin rights and I access StarCraft using the Map editor (a little trick I found out back in the beta days), but whenever I start up a game, nothing looks like it has been changed.

Hmm............do you have any ideas why it isn't working then? The installation process seems to be fine. I tried this a week ago on Starcraft 2 Patch 1.4.4, and I used the download link on the front page.
If not I'll have to resort to team colors  I dislike green.

Because you should manual install. Auto-installer is not safe and you don't know how it works and what it does.
WIth manual installing you see WHAT files you're planning to add to game and WHERE you're placing them in game resources.

Thanks Existor, I was able to get STC 'installed' (don't know the correct term for this) on my Starcraft and it looks nice.

for some reason mine keeps freezing on the 5th stage and when i hit reset, it does not let it reset, any ideas to what im doing wrong?

No more modding after 1.5.0, no matter. stronger team color mod, overmind voices or transparent bnet UI. Everything is shut down.
Instad you can use red health bars and Stronger Color mod (that saturates game)
