Dat picture xD From what i've heard the best place to be when wanting to play another server is NA, because they have good connection/ms playing on Eu server and on Kr server :/ as people posted in this thread there are a couple of koreans playing on eu and streaming ZenexYong comes to mind.

Belgium to Seoul, just did the test: around 600 ms.

been wondering myself if it's worth getting a kr acc from eu
Did my test I got between 330 - 350 ms
|
my ping to korea was 450 and my ping to eu was 130

I live in NZ, literally on the opposite side of the world to Spain, and I can play on EU. There is noticeable delay somewhere in the region of bnet 1 low latency (not chaos launcher low). It's not easy to play under those conditions but you can get used to it, however you won't be able to do super precise builds that require accuracy and quick reflexes.

500 from germany as well... there is just no highspeed cable between middle europe and korea, there are some from us to kor etc etc but you need to take a longer way from eu to kr cause of no direct line

i got 558 from spain so yeah it isnt that rare i guess...

I got 354 from Croatia. 500+ from Germany Belgium France and Spain????? Wtf

I think, much more fair, it's make traceroute to Korean server it's mine

I just did a test at work (university Janet, i.e <10 pings to UK) - my ping to Korea is over 400ms. It does seem like the infrastructure is poor between here and Korea.
|
Generally the EU<->KR ping is known to be of the worst of all the cross-server pings, whereas playing from NA<->KR is barely noticeable after a while.
|
wasn't this discussed in depth around TSL3?
|
It's pretty horrible, but playable up to like diamond where they start to get good as well. Mirror matches are crap to deal with. Sources: Played like 10 games there myself.

open command prompt
try: tracert eu.battle.net tracert sea.battle.net tracert kr.logon.battle.net
this gives actual pings to the servers, not just a "korea" ping from speedtest.
compare and see. Generally you'll want to be no more than 300ms though...I play on EU from NA with 158 and which is a noticeable difference when I ping 12ms on NA server but you get used to it after a while.
|
lol 249ms over here (montreal to korea) but i remember being able to play on korea without having any lag issues just a few months after the game was released (around december-january).. then blizz patched something and the server became unplayable

Are you sure this should work? It seems all the battle.net servers block ping requests..... even us.battle.net.
|
^^ It gets blocked out after a point, but it gives you a better picture of what really happens when you play the game, because it's a ping to the server you'll be playing on and not a general "korea" server.

This traceroute shows the simple reason why a ping from europe to korea is so big. The packets go from Russia to Frankfurt (line 5), Los Angeles (6 and 7), Narita-Tokyo (I guess, line 8) and Seoul (line 10). I believe the reason the routing goes this way is because there is no big backbone going through the middle east or russia to china/far east.
