Just to let everyone know, i'm not trying to bash Justin/Twitch or anything, i'm just curious and surprised that they aren't paying "fast" enough, at least in this case. Yes they said they had some address problems and what not, but still.
IdrA also probably generates WAY more ad revenue (at least on twitch) than usual. Doesn't he get like 20k viewers?
There obviously shouldn't be delays but still, if they were going to find kinks in their payment system, it would probably be with IdrA.

pretty damn apalling, and frankly quite disturbing.
i deffinitely would never want to be in a position where i work hard at the risk of being scared that i would never be paid.
getting scammed is a very nasty thing to have happen to someone, and it would deffinitely make me uneasy to to join a tournament that seems shady is i was a progamer
i agree with what was said on SOtG, these types of things should be voiced and anyone who doesnt pay up should be called out, to flush out the problem completely

Of course and that is understandable, but i kinda meant IF this is more common than we know (not just Idra's case). Lets say pro-gamers who doesn't have a decent salary, salary at all or other income, and they stream to get some money/their income from it and streaming sites are constantly paying late/paying less than they should be paying.
Isn't streaming Destiny's job pretty much? Lets say if he gets over and over again payments late or hundreds of dollars short, i think its a fairly big problem.
Once again, not saying this is happening nor blaming anyone just extremely curious.

im still waiting for more than 15600€ in total at the moment. im quite sure ill get the prizemoney with the exception this: DSRACK Lan 400€ im quite sure by now i wont get the money.
edit: removed 2 events because one seems to be making progress now and there mightve been some miscommunication, and other one is mostly my gut feeling which makes me a bit worried.

Do they claim they dont owe you it ? Or do they just ignore you when you contact them ?

Anyone who doesn't pay up should be sued. If you had a contract with them to get paid, then that can be brought to court. If not, then I dunno. Demand contracts to sign before you play for those tourneys?
Never been in a tourney, so I don't know how it all works.

Oh it'd definitely be bad if players weren't getting the money they earned. I just kinda think IdrA is a bad jumping off point for conjecture because he's such an outlier.
And other streamers like Tyler and iNcontroL were on the very same podcast and didn't mention that they had any trouble getting payment.
Edit: Stupid me, Destiny was there too and I don't believe he mentioned anything.

Never been in a tourney, so I don't know how it all works. You're absolutely correct. The only point of a contract is to set a legal basis for payment. If you have a contract and someone breaks the terms, take them to court. It's really not that difficult.
And if someone or some tourney has a business proposal but they don't have any form of contract involved, they are not legitimate in any way.
Try to find any legitimate company in any other field that hires people without contracts.
|
In France, a contract can exist even if it is not written, and there are different legal basis that can be used to force organizers to pay when they owe money to the winners when they did not sign a contract. It could be hardened if it involves parties from different countries but would not be impossible.
But the problem may also be that members of the community such as players and commentators won't go on litigation because they might think they would be "banned" or something from certain competitions or teams etc., as long as e-sport is still a small world. Even in SoTG, peoples did not talk too much about it. It is just my assumption.

ESWC: "What the fuck, stop putting us in bad light!! You have no reason to do that and if you continue we might not invite you to any more of our events".
One organisation seems to need a lesson in crisis management.... Exactly. And any letter that says "This isn't a threat [but it will be hard to invite you to future events]" is just thuggery; ESWC definitely has lost all respect in my eyes. Lol, you are comparing IPL2 which was long time ago and not paid everything yet (though they are still within reasonable time) and ESWC that ended like 10 days ago. Are you surprised that ESWC people are annoyed when they are mentioned in close proximity of organizations that did not pay for multiple months and how it is actually putting them in bad light by guilt by association. Multiple people in this thread were already convinced by ClouD's unintentional (I believe) association. He should have at least been smart enough to format his post so that offenders are separated clearly from others that he just has some unfounded fears about.
The whole situation is ridiculous. People are actually surprised that ESWC would consider not inviting ClouD again ? So if my payday at work is 15th of the next month and on the 5th I start publicly naming my previous employers and how they were not paying me months after they were supposed to and in the same sentence I name my current employer that he did not pay me yet and that noone contacted me about my pay this month you would all be surprised if my employer would consider firing me ? Also why would they contact me about my pay when it is due on 15th, there is no trouble with paying me on 15th and they have my contact info if they need something from me ? I do not expect people who have some obligations toward me to contact me and assure me that they are going to pay before the actual due date. If they do not pay at that time then I expect them to contact me with explanations.
This thread is perfect example how perfectly good point that ClouD actually had (apart of his unfortunate associations) is misused by an angry uninformed mob.

Why should he apologize ? Because he didn't get his money in time and stated that to the public ? What the FUCK ? They didn't even ask him about his bank details. How do you know he will not get his money in time ? In case you did not notice they have still plenty of time to pay him.

for DH Cointoss Tournament 10.000 SEK ~1100€ and ESL Torneo Campus Party 2000€ i think its still possible.
so if anyone has an idea on how to get payment from these events, feel free to pm me :D
Ok, enough. DreamHack paid the prize money on June 27th for the DH Cointoss Tournament for your, Socke, win to Alternate. Ask Sven why he hasn't paid you...

So it seems some player clan communications are not working. A few players already claimed that they haven't been paid but they just didn't check their own records...

I feel that not only do the sponsors need to make sure they have the money before the tournament starts, but also the host of the tournament needs to make sure that the sponsor has the money.
The tournament host needs to pick up a sponsor and check with them that they do in fact have the money ready for once the tournament is complete. And they need to do this before they start the tournament that way things like this do not happen. I also feel that it is not entirely the host's fault all the time when things like this happen. The sponsor could have the money and just not be sending it out, so i feel that both the host and the sponsor need to be reliable in order to run a tournament.
|
Seems like tournaments need to be more organised... there are conflicting reports!
[insert ignorant comment here] If Totalbiscuit can pay up from his monthly ad revenue I don't see how tournaments with big sponsors can't
