Well I like the EMP change as I feel EMP was a bit strong, I also like the Protoss Shield change since it was really expensive for what you get out of it and it was rarely used - however I can't begin to understand why the cost of the upgrades for attack and armor were lowered :/ Don't really like those two changes.

ghost change will make ghosts more for countering templar than for doing damage to the protoss army. It will still be good but just not as good. This will impact tvz as well in dealing with infestors, which I'm not sure about.

I think the upgrades change is a little much. Sure, decrease shields upgrade cost, but not armor and weapon upgrades. protoss can already get upgrades faster than the other races, and in TvP if you are down upgrades for very long you've basically lost the game. I doubt the armor and weapons upgrades change will go through.

Considering Justin Browder comments on his recent interview, this seems like a patch pretty much designed to solve some of the problems in the PvT matchup in higher levels (namely Korea).

EMP is an incredibly powerfull spell against Protoss due to the fact that actuaally deals damage rather than just nullifying casters. Nerfing the radius by 0.5 will require more EMPs and more precise, which only becomes a game changing factor in high level games.

As for the upgrades cost reductions, I'm guessing this is to encourage double forge play so that you can keep up with the Terran macro wise. Gas is hardly a problem for T in the matchup, so upgrades come naturally extremely early (usually 3-3 finishes arround the 18-19m mark). This buffs helps P catching up to that.

I like the changes. Shouldn't really affect the timing of toss upgrades (cause they rush for 3/3 anyways most of the time), but gives them more resources to do things while they do it.

Area of old EMP = Pi*(2^2) = 12.56
Area of new EMP = Pi*(1.5^2) = 7.065

New emp covers 56.25% of the area of current emp

the upgrade 'buff' is pretty useless imo, 25min+gas is peas

i want to say shield buff is interesting but i mean, emp will still do same damage regardless so ... whats the point?

Oh wow really? Currently TvP is the most shittiest matchup ever, 90% of all Protoss stay one base in Diamond and Master for Voidray/Immortal/DT cheese/busts and now they get buffed once again. Protoss can get his upgrades the fastest, Terran the slowest... makes no sense for me to even increase the speed...

Surely there's a number between 1.5 and 2. Seems like a pretty drastic change. That's like changing marine damage from 6 to 8.

Upgrade change is kind of a joke, that was already the one place protoss really had an advantage with chrono boost =\ that really shouldn't go through... not with EMP nerf as well. If they both go through it's gonna be so difficult to just play against gateway/templar style with quick double forge

What the fuck? Have they not seen a pvz before??? no other race gets 3+ weapons at 14 minutes into the game. this is downright stupid
Day[9] i've broken 6 mice, 5 keyboards, 3 pairs of headphones, and a mousepad, all from raging after starcraft losing streaks

Non-shield upgrades are the cheapest of all race because they cover robotic and gateway units...

As a Toss player I'm very happy.

Shield Upgrades seriously needed to be cheaper. You barely got them in most games and definitely never touched the damn things in PvT match ups. Great change there.

But I actually question the point of the Weapon/Armor cost reduction. They remained on par with the other race's relative upgrade costs and in terms of the total number of armor/weapon/shield upgrades across the races, Toss had 5 like the Zerg, 1 less than T. Instead of Zerg Weapons split into melee/ranged we had our health split into armor/shields.

I wouldn't mind Armor/Weapons back to the old cost.

because their units suck for their cost, and upgrades are the only way for them to be viable vs roaches and MMM without the need for godly ffing
