EDIT: i really don't get why the other 2 races think that these are bad changes. If you've played zerg you know you get to 3/3 much faster than toss even with chrono, mostly because chrono is either not there or spent on other items to keep up with the zerg. Also for the terran, really? really? have you not seen what emp does to the toss army? the idea that toss units are much better is compete fallacy. MMM with some micro can shred the toss army collosus included. The toss have been suffering and its obvious, people like Incontrol, MC, HuK, etc. have all been annoyed by the things that have been changed, maybe not sheilds as much as the other upgrades though. | ||

The amount of whinging about the armour and weapon upgrade changes is hilarious... It's a pretty negligible difference, saving 75/75 in getting 2/2.... Maybe it results in 3/3/1 when otherwise you'd have only bothered to get 3/3... But by then you'd most likely be on ~3 base and could afford that upgrade anyway. It's more of a subtle suggestion to get the upgrades than any meaningful buff. | ||

Now, less cost, more units, more deadly. Although saying this particular upgrade was needed is a stretch. Didn't protoss players not hate EMP radius as much as casting range? | ||

EMP Nerf was needed, though we'll see if it should be 1.5 or something like 1.75. I would have prefered a snipe nerf (25 ---> 35/40) to prevent ghosts from countering the ultralisk. That or make Snipe not able to target massive units. T should not be able to stay on marine/tank/ghost, imo. They should need to go to marauders or add more tanks (the "supposed" counter to Ultras), not mass more ghosts and use snipe more. I'm OK with it countering the Brood Lord, though. | ||

By lowering the cost of the upgrades, Blizz is encouraging more fuller upgrading by Protoss so they stay relevant in the upgrade battle in the lategame. This won't change the fact that fully upgraded roaches scale better than fully upgraded stalkers, but now it's more likely protoss will have their higher level upgrades, earlier, and will have the shield upgrades and level 3 armor that they usually don't have. | ||

I doubt the reduction of the weapon/armor upgrade costs will be significant, it might only trigger more protoss to go the heavy upgrade way, which is a good thing in my opinion because it is way underappreciated atm. | ||
