Now I want to know what the hell was in them! lol. Quoting myself here, but curiosity won out and I thought I would share. The creature spawning things from its back is totally natural and quite real. It is an amphibian known as a Surinam Toad, and that's its normal reproductive cycle. There are a few Surinam species, but that family of amphibians is the only one that reproduces like that (at least that I could find in a brief google session). This serves two purposes: 1- the baby frogs go through the tadpole stage safely in their mother's back, protecting them from predators. 2- it freaks humans the hell out ![]() The more you know.

No, that's wrong. I must have missed when some humans gained the power to feel and know what other humans experience. Other people in this thread have said it, and I'm one of them too: we have felt these itches long before this thread or before anyone told us what this phobia is. I saw that picture of the teathed-hole-in-finger years ago and it made me literally claw at my own finger and scratch it. It still does if I think about it too intently. As soon as I saw Browders video on the Swarm Host I got itchy hands (before this thread was made). I'm getting itchy because that's what these images do, not because of what someone told. you tell people they might get itchy by watching this video and a few people inevitably will. add on some lines of pseudo science to make it sound real and voila: you have a phobia.

BTW this whole thread is BS and a waste of time. I get a horribly itchy feeling when I think of think of walking on asphalt with beach sand on my feet. i also am slightly disgusted by things bursting out of the backs of other things. Holes do not bother me. The swarm host looks fine, and itchiness is not a good enough reason to change anything besides skin lotions. /end thread

Anyways, I don't think the units needs to be changed. It looks gross and it sends shiver down my spine (not as bad as THAT video, though), but if you don't concentrate on it, it should be fine. But only time will tell.

And while playing multiplayer you will be to concentrated to even notice any effects, unless you will talk yourself into it.

Whoa dude you may feel this way legitimately but there are going to be some people that feel slightly itchy or uncomfortable simply because the thread primed them to be, although probably never to the same extent you mentioned, its kind of like how saying "don't think of a black cat" will make people think of a black cat, the mind is very easily manipulated in these subtle ways.

I do believe that some of you get itchy because of this and that you arent trolling or making shit up, but you also need to know that there are phobias for pretty much everything and people didnt complain about it before. Thus the question begs: why should your fears/phobias be something that we should try to hide when other phobias and other people do not get the same treatment? Not to mention that this is a damn videogame That is the entire point of interactive entertainment and movies, to confront your fears, you do things in videogames you could never dream to do in real life. To accomodate everyone we would eventually all only have Pong, and i bet there is a phobia for balls/squares bouncing around, so we probably cant even have that. And like i said before, if many of you experienced this on 4chan, then you know aswell as most people here that there are far far FAR worst things posted on that site than holes on bugs/people.

All in all I don't really see the issue here, there's tons of gross animations and art throughout games in general and you can't sit around thinking everything will be accpected by everyone. For example, whenever blizzard release new art for armor in WoW, half the replies are shitting on 'em, granted that's not exactly the same, I don't think you should be suprised that people dislike how a certain unit looks, it's just how people are.

I thought this forum was to talk about starcraft 2 and not some weird phobia. Oh, and just go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_phobias , and you will see that with all the weird phobia existing, you basically have to take everything out of the game if you follow the reasoning of the OP. This is so absurd, I can't even believe it. PS: The phobia the OP is mentioning is so rare and not worth mentionning, it's not even in the wikipedia list of phobia.

There are gigantic spiders in pretty much every game, Resident Evil to World of Warcraft, and this issue was never raised, infact it made the game more fun for people who do suffer from it, as it was a safe way to confront their fears and phobias. You are wrong on this. You're irrationally scared of something - something makes you itch/it's impossible to even look at it. You don't understand it it just feels like that. It's not fun, and certainly doesn't feels like a safe way to confront your fears since there's never really any danger. I have to deal with a huge load of irrational fears in my life and I know myself that selldome in my fears/phobias I could be remotely in danger. (unless you decide to swim in spiders to fix your phobia or w/e) The problem with things like this is that most people simply don't feel it and thus won't understand or associate the right feeling with it. I know this from therapy I've had over pretty much all of my life. I don't think they should base their design choices of phobias since like said in this thread there are a huge load of fears out there and it's impossible to please everyone. At the same time I woulnd mind if they allowed you to filter certain things like the reduce blood option. But it's a design choice I guess chances are people with this specific phobia are out of luck.
