nothing is cute when you look at it close enough... on the topic, I'd say if the number of people who would get severely affected by this artwork is high enough i wouldn't mind them changing it.

If starcraft (or games in general) changed things based on peoples phobias we'd have squares vs triangles vs circles instead of actual races. But even then I'm sure there's phobias for basic shapes.
How many games have spiders in them? A lot. Do you think the developers ever thought about peoples phobias when putting spiders in those games?

The majority of people in this thread seem to be attempting to debunk this phobia. However it's not about the OP saying that we will get itchy then we must have this phobia, it's about what happens when you see this kind of stuff.
Before I knew what this was, whenever I would see things like a Lotus seed pod or anything with holes in that similar manner, I would literally freak out. It doesn't look right, it makes me want to throw up, it makes me want to run away. I don't know how else I can describe it, I don't know why I react the way I do but the Swarm Host is definitely something that makes the game less enjoyable for me now. I have to try my damnedest to deal with this because it will be in a game I love. I wish Blizzard would change it but I know they most likely won't.
That being said, a lot of you people don't seem to have any respect because you think it's not a real phobia or think it's just silly in general. Grow up and stop trolling. I can't help the fact that this freaks me out, obviously it's all psychological and if I knew how to fix it I would.

I have to feel that the first video had a very strong placebo effect working for it. Perhaps there are people who actually suffer from this phobia, but I feel that this number is over represented due to this effect. Anyway, are the zerg supposed to be nice to look at?

Some people are afraid of blood too, and the game has that. Some people are afraid of insects, and almost all of the zerg look like insects.
The most I could see them doing is maybe closing up the holes in reduced violence mode.

No, the video is a poor attempt to identify the phobia in addition. It intentionally shows typically unattractive images (frogs, bugs, bad apples) so that right off the bat makes it uneasy.

zerg is supposed to be the creepy insect race. they are doing good job with the artwork (except the ultralisk looks like a dinosaur)
if u have a fobia for certain things for example spiders then dont play games with giant spiders in them, as simple as that.
personally i feel really uncomfortable with brains, organs and shit like that in real life (dont know if its a fobia or not, maybe its just normal lol) but when i see it in movies its much less uncomfortable. and if i play a video game where units splash from inside out it doesnt bother me at all.
my point is shouldnt ur fobia be pretty extreme to actually make u this bothered by a unit in a computer game?

People need to calm the fuck down. He's not suggesting that they change the art because people are "afraid of it" he just wants to see how many people are bugged out by it.
Swarm Host itself doesn't creep me out since I'll never be that zoomed in anyway and when I play I don't really consider the art of the unit. That first video however freaked me out. Not a fan. The photo-shopped fingers with the lampreys fucked with my head the first time I saw it, and it did again. Gross.

I believe such things exists. Phobias are IRRATIONAL by nature, so it's definitely possible. What I'm saying is people like you should go to the psychiatrist, there's very specific treatments for phobic disorders. The game shouldn't be changed at all...
