The transformer Hellion and Shredder are disappointing. Hellion is specialized and fine for what it does, Terran just needs a real Goliath substitute to go with Siege Tanks. As for the Shredder, I'd rather have Spider Mines back.

The Carrier should stay but have its Interceptor behavior changed to BW mechanics. Replicant sounds too gimmicky.

Zerg units are all OK imo.

Ugh so zerg basically has a ground-broodlord? The viper looks really cool and well-rounded though.

Terran units - bleh. Can't believe it actually *is* a hellion transformer >.< Shredder looks kinda dumb. I think shredder drops into mineral lines could be SUPER effective (even more-so than stimmed marine drops)

Protoss - whatever that nano-bot thing is, its pretty unoriginal. I don't mind the new protoss air things thoughp

Well... Look at the old Neural Parasite. Instead of keeping them out of the battle you just grab them and kill them . Colossus are already a unit that needs to be babysat constantly... Good, the collossus is a catastrophy in game design and the reason that protoss meta game hasnt developed, fuck that unit.

I agree wholeheartedly, it must go in HotS. Also, have anyone seen a pattern in the voting? Majority love the Zerg units which is basically BW all over again, while new non BW units for Terran and Protoss gets dislike.


Terran gets firebats, goliaths and a bigger version of the spidermine. Sounds very BWesque to me^^.

it basically is a Goliath, Idk who Blizzard think they're trying to fool with making a new unit that fills the Goliaths role and hoping the viewers won't notice.

Personally, the only thing I dislike about current Starcraft 2 is PvP. I can get a 50% winrate as Protoss in PvP but I don't have fun. Win or lose, PvP is not fun for me. So I play random. When I hit PvP on the ladder I simply leave the game.

This expansion doesn't seem to change anything about PvP. Hopefully the new Nexus ability can reign in 4-gate and other early gateway unit pressures. But I am very unsold on that concept.

The main thing about PvP I hate is the Colossus. None of the new units nor ability seem to do anything to stop 7 Colossus from being built and walking over everything. To me, Colossus are the least fun unit in the game. On paper they look cool. In practice they are not fun. I want to be Protoss but I can't stand 1/3 of my games being terribly unfun. I was hoping this expansion would change that.

I thought the Colossus was the most, or perhaps the second most hated unit in the game. I was hoping it would get changed or removed. I like how the Zerg have a new and effective way of dealing with it but that doesn't help in PvP

I actually think it's an incredibly awesome unit that really fits with the zerg swarm flavor, while also providing space control. From what I've read, they spawn units at an ever increasing rate the longer they are burrowed, until they reach the maximum, so once they hit max, having a few in one spot is going to have a pretty strong short duration army that can't go very far. But the units they spawn as hard as zealots, so they're useful. If they aren't dealt with soon I can see them annihilating defensive lines, and they sound really good for protecting a specific location as well.


You know they deal 16 damage but I really really doubt they are gonna be as strong as zealots. Probably very low hp / no armor.


Yeah, the word 'hit' was supposed to be there and wasn't for some reason (probably a typing error on my part). Still, even if they die fast, if it's true about them spawning them at an increasing rate, it'll be incredible once they're spawning 5 at a time. Even if they die fast, it will take a pretty big commitment just to deal with one of these units without taking damage from it, and I can just imagine how strong those buggers are once you get melee upgrades and armor upgrades for your lings.

I personally think this is the coolest new unit in the game.

Ok, thank you very much for posting this. I was really curious what the HotS would look like. However, please believe me, I'm not trying to troll. But 90% of these changes look like they came from a bronze player. I can't see more than 20% of these changes being implemented in StarCraft II HotS.

gotta say im terribly disappointed... Blizzard is taking out units i like and subing in terribly designed new ones....

as of right now, i wouldn't be surprised is all major tournaments remained WoL only well after the release of HotS

I hope this will really change everything and it'll be like TFT for WC3, or better yet, BW for SC1. Although I suppose vanilla SC1 had more severe obvious balance issues, and blizz was a whole 'nother company back then. It will be interesting~
