Wait... are you serious? The funny thing is, I kind of believe France would do something like that. That totally distorts the whole purpose of a contract. The time to think is before you sign. Actually no, hes wrong, if the 2 parts consent both on the same terms of an offer, there is a contract. It's a fact. At the moment where you have a contract, there is legal obligations applicable. Oh and you can retract during negociations, but never after the creation of a contract. (in this case it seems that there is one) The problem is that we don't have all the elements of this story, so i hope that both millenium and coL do something to clarify the situation.
If you signed it then both consent on same terms, that's simple!! What happen behind it doesn't matter!!

sounds like millenium doesnt want to lose one of their stars...

Hmm... I wonder how this will turn out. The sad thing is Stephano is so young. He probably doesn't understand the binding law the contract holds x-x. I doubt complexity tricked him into signing or anything though. I mean of course they were trying to convey him to agree to join them but still that's what Millenium was probably doing too.

Having fun reading this thread where people speculate wildly based on nothing but PR posts from both teams. No one knows what really went down so why bother arguing about it until there's more information?
It's like the TSL debacle all over again, first people we're slinging shit on EG, then Lee then EG without any real fucking clue on what really happened.

If someone does something stupid (like in this case) or if it involves EG, there will always be a shitstorm. There are more quiet and successful transfers that just don't get noticed because there's nothing to talk about and no one to pass judgment on.

Complexity's twitter:
"We will be releasing an official statement on the Stephano situation shortly."

Before jumping to any conclusions and placing any blame, I think we should hear all three parties out.
That being said. This is how it looks to me right now:
Millennium should have sat down and written a legal contract with stephano as soon as he turned 18 to avoid situations such as this. Stephano and coL should have made sure that stephano fully understood the coL-contract before signing it. Stephano should have talked to Millennium before signing a contract with another team. And above all: Millennium should have read the contract stephano signed and talked to coL before making this announcement and causing this drama. If stephano wanted to play with them, they should have negotiated something with coL and worked something out instead of going behind coLs back.

I know this is "ESPORTS" and we must be super professional lawyer folk who do everything professionally to better the name of "ESPORTS", but this to me is taking it a little far. We're talking about an 18 year old kid whose probably never had to sign any contract let alone one that would have such ramifications. Yes, he signed the damn contract, but not even a full 2 days later he thinks he made a mistake - childish? Yes. Irresponsible? Yes. Illegal? Probably. However, I implore Complexity and Millenium to take this out of the public domain, have a talk between all three groups where they can come to a situation which is acceptable to everyone. I'm all for the "professionalisation" of Esports, but let's not lose touch of what really matters and make someone suffer for our own motives. First of all: he is not a "kid". Second of all, it's about the legal precedent; this has occurred multiple times, and compLexity being a top-tier leader in professional gaming wants to set the example, and stop this shit from ever occurring again. They have my full support to sue Millennium and contact as many authorities as they want. It is a GAME after all, but you DONT play games like this when it comes down to contracts. He's 18, yes he's a legal adult, but I would imagine that most of the members of this forum would agree that they were hardly grown up by the time they were 18. And I'm fairly certain he signed something without fully understanding the consequences, and now wants to take that decision back a day later. Is that so bad? I'm fairly certain in Europe we have a 14 day period where we can think annul the contract if we disagree with it anyways, so I can't see any legal motion winning.
"Grown up" means nothing. Age means everything. He is an adult, and he made his action. Neither you nor I can say what laws the contract abided by (I assumed The State of New York, since that is standard practice for Contractual Law (and yes, I was heavily involved in that field, so I am not saying a falsified statement)). We will wait and see. I don't see Millennium being able to get away with this without paying compLexity a huge fee, as I have stated since the beginning.

the president of millennium is being completely irrelevant about talking about how his team is "better" than all the other teams. this was a pr about stephano not his own team and plus that is just wrong that he is criticizing other teams like that. very unprofessional

I don't know the details but I like it more when a French player plays for a French team than for an American team.

Personally sounds to me that Mill made him feel guilty for the move because of they past that Mill has with him.

Stephano understood his mistake and decided to stay with Millenium for the next 12 months Stephano will sign, as agreed a CDI(Contrat a duree indeterminee, ie: a contract of work with no expiration date) Other than that, I guess, the legal action really depends on what Stephano signed with coL. In France on every contract "CDI", there's a probation period (for example, in IT companies, it's 4 months + 3 more months if the employer wants to) during which the employee can say goodby and just leave with 48H notice iirc. But that's clearly stated in the contract and I doubt Stephano signed a French contract so, we'll have to wait and see... How can you sign a CDI of 12 months ? It should be a CDD...
Yes. The guy that wrote that statement probably did it in a hurry...

Good thing it can't be, since he is a French citizen signing with a foreign company, only french contracts can be signed. French law and all.
And in France you have 1 month after signing before it's final.
