Do more reading before you make stupid posts. CoL and Millenium have been both knowingly 'bidding' on Stephano for some time now then Stehpano took their offer and signed the contract.
|
You know, technically Stephano could still leave Mill and join Complexity again, what with the whole one month probation period. I would LOVE to see the drama that happens then.
|
Haha Cedrix statement is so funny!
Stephano understood his mistake and decided to stay with Millenium for the next 12 months Stephano will sign, as agreed a CDI(Contrat a duree indeterminee, ie: a contract of work with no expiration date)
Other than that, I guess, the legal action really depends on what Stephano signed with coL. In France on every contract "CDI", there's a probation period (for example, in IT companies, it's 4 months + 3 more months if the employer wants to) during which the employee can say goodby and just leave with 48H notice iirc. But that's clearly stated in the contract and I doubt Stephano signed a French contract so, we'll have to wait and see...

We will be releasing an official statement shortly regarding the issue.

29 days from now EG announces the signing of Stephano ... I could so see that happen.

Easy win for CoL.

Sounds like the contract that Titan signed was shoddy - seems like they took an old contract and re-worked it for Titan, thus making it oddly worded and potentially not valid. That doesn't mean Stephano's was similarly shoddy, but who knows. The lawyer also says that it would be near impossible to enforce a contract with a European party - arbitration might be possible but yeah. Of course Jerith himself doesn't seem to be too into contracts. Keep in mind, contracts can help players as well. I'm not sure if vvv's players are contracted, but the recent kerfluffle over their not providing travel money to their players after (what they perceived as) poor performances at MLG shows that a naive ideology of "brotherhood" doesn't cut it either. So they never said what team vVvTitan was possibly going to sign with... was it COL.? Because that in my books makes them look even more slimy. If it is COL? Like a sneaky snake... How someone could possibly blame coL in this situation is beyond me. Ignore that guy, he is an awful poster on his way out probably. Check out his other posts.
Are you a mod ... No? I'm trying to figure out what team Titan was possibly going to with that 'Shoddy' Contract.
Having an opinion isn't a privilege

american culture..big on honor.. yea bash american culture when u make an uninformed statement like that.... honestly sometimes this europe v america shit is so fuckin retarded. If you read the thread you'll see that apparently Mill and Col were both in negotiations with stephano making offers and counter offers. So there was no behind the back shit

A contract is a contract, whether the player is not originally from the country the team is based on. If Stephano did signed a contract then CoL has the right to sue him or charged him or Mil to buy his contract. To those who keep saying that the contract is invalid because it's in USA, you must be kidding me? So foreign players in sports like soccer or baseball aren't binded by contract because its not the player's country? The problem is the contract, is it legal or not? But Col is a not a small team. To be honest though, Stephano can do better with CoL with more connection ie Koreans and more finance.

If behind the back of the foreign team, you mean "four to five weeks of talks with Stephano", then, okay? Insult my honor...?
Stop being fucking racist. Keep my country out of this. This has to do with laws, not my ideologies. Get your facts straight before you post like that. Completely childish.

They're doing this right before lo3 and all that stuff, so at the last second after going the whole show without saying anything DJwheat can scream out
"FUCK COMPLEXITY, FUCK MILLENIUM AND FUCK THE FUCKING DIAZ BROTHERS. I bury those cockroaches!"

Do you think Mill talked to Complexity before they talked Stephano into breaching his contract with them?

I know this is "ESPORTS" and we must be super professional lawyer folk who do everything professionally to better the name of "ESPORTS", but this to me is taking it a little far. We're talking about an 18 year old kid whose probably never had to sign any contract let alone one that would have such ramifications. Yes, he signed the damn contract, but not even a full 2 days later he thinks he made a mistake - childish? Yes. Irresponsible? Yes. Illegal? Probably. However, I implore Complexity and Millenium to take this out of the public domain, have a talk between all three groups where they can come to a situation which is acceptable to everyone. I'm all for the "professionalisation" of Esports, but let's not lose touch of what really matters and make someone suffer for our own motives. First of all: he is not a "kid". Second of all, it's about the legal precedent; this has occurred multiple times, and compLexity being a top-tier leader in professional gaming wants to set the example, and stop this shit from ever occurring again. They have my full support to sue Millennium and contact as many authorities as they want. It is a GAME after all, but you DONT play games like this when it comes down to contracts. He's 18, yes he's a legal adult, but I would imagine that most of the members of this forum would agree that they were hardly grown up by the time they were 18. And I'm fairly certain he signed something without fully understanding the consequences, and now wants to take that decision back a day later. Is that so bad? I'm fairly certain in Europe we have a 14 day period where we can think annul the contract if we disagree with it anyways, so I can't see any legal motion winning.

Actually no, hes wrong, if the 2 parts consent both on the same terms of an offer, there is a contract. It's a fact. At the moment where you have a contract, there is legal obligations applicable.
Oh and you can retract during negociations, but never after the creation of a contract. (in this case it seems that there is one)
The problem is that we don't have all the elements of this story, so i hope that both millenium and coL do something to clarify the situation.

Your an idiot, its been said col and mil negotiated with offers and counteroffers several times.
I would love to see some sort f legal action follow through here but i dont think that will happen. I personally think stephano is to blame here and should be held responisble, maybe a ban from major tournamnets [never going to happen] or somesort of punishment.
Contracts are put in place for a reason and need to be upheld without them becoming a joke in esports. Stephano has lost a ton of respect in my eyes because of this.

I think we can all agree that EG is probably at fault for this. (psych)
Honestly though, this is a sad occurence all around. Stephano is such a promising player, and this ends up just having a bad outcome regardless of where he goes. /sadface

Wow, never a player transfer without any drama in sc2 huh?
Edit: I did find it strange that Stephano would change team from Millenium though, especially with the news of the pro gaming house in Marseille. And since Stephano is french, I don't see any reason to why he would want to leave Millenium.

I love it when eSports drama unfolds and people like to bring up the culture of each party to try to justify their comments on the matter. You obviously did not read the source and like to post that anti-United States BS. But hey, everyone in the world hates the U.S. and lets continue that bandwagon.

haha so funny
either way, col shoudl just let it go, no point in trying to force a player to play on your team if he does not want and he'll probably refuse anyway
