Hello TL community a few days ago I uploaded a highlights montage for Naniwa and it got great responses from most of you so I thought I would make another highlights video this time for a terran player known for his incredible micro, timings, and innovation, MarineKingPrime.
Well before watching many of you may ask, why this guy? Hes no IMMVP he has not won a single GSL championship, nor a single major foreign title, what entitles him a montage?
Well I can't explain it better than this guy. (WaxAngel)
Is it time to face the facts? All of the timing rushes, cheeses, and random, pointless aggression in the world might not be enough to win MKP a championship. Maybe he's just not solid enough.
But he sure is entertaining as hell. Kong-line curse aside, MKP proved one important thing in this season's Code-A. While everyone is busy being a standardized macro-robot, MKP is one of the few players who has genuine style. I don't care that it's sometimes flair for the sake of flair, and attacking for the sake of attacking. I'd rather watch MKP shrug his shoulders and randomly go all-in at the thirteen minute mark than see ST_Bomber bludgeon another opponent to death with pure macro.
Guys who keep pro-gaming from turning into monotonous drudgery need to be rewarded in some way. Foreign tournament organizers, are you listening? INVITE MKP. There have been like a dozen major foreign tournaments with invite spots for Koreans since MarineKing lost his first final to Nestea. Can't you get him to at least one? MLG, DreamHack, IEM (know you tried last time, one more time please!), MLG, Assembly, TSL, MLG, IPL, MLG, I'm talking to you. MLG.
This video was not some 1 hour long edit on windows movie maker, I spent 40$ on GSL passes just for the footage and it took a solid 3 days to make. So please Enjoy!
So here you guys go! (Recomended to watch in fullscreen, turn the audio upp)
MarineKingPrime, has quite an extensive history in the GSL, take a look for yourself, the red highlights indicate he was placed 3rd+
TO GERMANS : I will be uploading the video on Megaupload if you guys really want to see it, its blocked again <.<
[url blocked]
Also if anyone likes the work I do here is the Naniwa vid I made a few days ago!
The video is nonprofit, all footage/content is owned by GOMTV of Gretech.
Song List =================================== NiT GriT - Synthetic Heaven Dubstep B-Complex - Beautiful Lies Parov Stelar - Your Man Sum 41 - In too deep The Kooks - Seaside
Thank you <3 As a MarineKing fan, this is especially awesome to watch and will remain proof of his skill to naysayers. This compilation will show up anyone who discredits MKP of revolutionising marine splitting
I feel like you could have done a lot more to make the montage interesting, i do not mean over editing call of duty style but with some few tricks this could have been special now its just highlights from different games.
Awesome video dude! Although one thing confused me, the game on Crossfire with the split against tanks at like 0:45. I remember that as being Optimus not MKP =/. I may be wrong though, I just remember that as Optimus.
Besides that amazing montage keep up the good work!

Yeah, that was a very recent Polt VS TOP game. Enjoyable video nonetheless.
That was an awesome montage! Only bit of criticism I would add is to cut the commentary audio when you speed the footage up and let the music be the color of your painting. The visuals and video work gave me chills though! You did an awesome job highlighting the very thing that made everyone fall in love with marine king.
I enjoyed this, but I think I can add some constructive criticism for your next videos.
I felt like it could've been improved a lot by showing clips of MKP himself more between the games. He's known for being emotional and showing his in-booth reactions would've been nice. Plus he's damn handsome, errbody wants to see more MKP!
The music was too loud throughout the whole video, it stole focus away from the games. They were good tunes, but did not really suit the video. I'd recommend avoiding anything with lyrics, especially when the video you're using has commentary in it.
The text-only segments in-between the videos looked Windows Movie Maker-ish and were not that well thought-out in my opinion. I noticed at least one spelling mistake, too.
Besides that I think these are great and you're going to get a lot better if you keep working on these! Your selection of clips and progression through the timeline was very well done.
i love his tvt back in the day when mass bio was more viable...stupid mech ruined everything.I feel like this video should be called the legacy or something because it was really a comeback kid video. Also you shoulda added in the videos of him vs MC from the super tournament where he came back from a possibly 3-0 sweep to reverse kill mc.

I couldn't agree more. I rather watch MKP (also MMA, Polt) active bio play (some cheeses too) rather than pure mech play. I found mech play, despite it's really strong play is really boring. I understand that some people like mech play, but I just don't.
For Protoss, I love MC & Hong Un play, many ballsy strategy that sometime really stretch the luck, but I like them.
But seriously, I think MKP & other Prime members should add some variations to their play, like standard macro, mech etc. And once he do that, I think taking major trophies will be just a matter of time.
Oh, and, thanks for the video Really2 nice, I love it
Aww man this reminded me of his match with Kyrix in GSL 2 on Xel-Naga Caverns, I remember TL exploding when he came back from that, one of the best matches of the first few seasons of GSL and still remember it vividly in my mind was soooo awesome.
Nice video. Though, as was mentioned by someone else earlier I think it would have been better if we could hear the commentary more. Kind of hard to figure out what's going on in the video sometimes when you're right in the thick of things.
You can really see in MKP's play how much BoxeR has influenced him through his innovative, but sometimes cheesy strategies. But they are all pretty fun to watch, regardless.
MarineKing vs Kyrix live was probably the most amazing series I've ever seen. People looking at it now would think it was awful, but MarineKing truly did revolutionise TvZ in Open 2 and 3 when everyone was claiming Zerg was OP on the "huge" maps. The funny part that people seem to forget is that MarineKing forgot to research Combat Shield in game one. :D
If you tell germans to wait for the megaupload you can also tell them if they can't wait use youtube proxys . (which is better anyway so that youtube learns that this blocking just sucks :3 )
Decent editing, definitely entertaining video! Good job sir!
And how can koreans still think lingblingmuta is viable when players like MKP can split like this on the fly? It just seems they rely on the terran player messing up his micro bigtime to win.
Awesome video . Too bad he doesn't comeback in finals, seems like every comeback he did was to fulfill his forever2nd (until next code S, now that mech will not be imba anymore in tvt he will be top 3 tvt again :D) destiny. I really don't understand why you used a clip of Polt in the vid tho, pretty sure it can't be a mistake so why?
Pretty good editing, too bad the music was way too loud. Either remove the Gamesounds than or lower the music. Very annoying to not be able to listen to a word the casters say.
Well thank you kind sir, appreciating your upload of this and the naniwa one :D I loved the video please do more, it's not like there aren't enough players :D
This is a really spectacular video; it must be a tremendous effort to put something like this together. Thanks for the good watch, and nice playlist.

Agreed, but it does seem like *sometimes* you lowered the music to let Tastosis shine through. Was this on purpose, or a fortunate accident that the songs were sometimes quieter when the commentators got excited?
I hope for your next video (and I definitely hope there's a next video) you'll highlight the voices of the commentators a bit more when there's an exciting moment. The Casting Archon is my favorite part of GSL.
It might be an improvement to mute the casters completely while a song is the dominant audio, but it's also a cool effect to include their murmur under the music. It's your call on that one!

Originally I planned for this to be a music only video with no sound of the casters at all because the goal was to have music syncing with the visuals, but then I decided to let some important/funny things the casters said shine through the music like "How does he do that?" "Time to learn from your teammate bitbybit",
but then i just decided to let the casting in general seep through anyways even if its so low volume its unrecognizable, this was because I think it gave the video a more sports-like feel like u know there are casters in the background but you don't know what they are saying.
Great video I love it in everyway. But throughout the entire video I kept think that the next clip would be marineking dancing in a circle with music added in.
Really nice work! Its pretty difficult to show his uniqueness in a short montage but you did well. Those micro scenes are sick but the best thing is how you showed his will to win every game. Besides the music is great and thanks for megavideo =)

Teamliquid respects copyrighted material. And such threads don't do much good for this website. Also there are plenty material from MLG, NASL, Dreamhack etc for montages and stuff like that.
Nice video. What's sad is he gets 2nd or 3rd so often. It's like the paladin at the end of a long adventure about to fight the final boss, and he just goes "meh, whatever" and dies.

I emailed GOM, and asked for the video to be put on the frontpage because its generating attention for GOM anyways its a hype video, I think its going to pass also.
I did a video for MKP a long time ago and asked for frontpage but the video was sht so they did not respond I think this might make it.
I know ur trying to hurt the video/thread but really its fine its chill.
And incase you forgot, TL and many other people have made SC2 montages, check out this great one!

1. You find material from MLG, NASL, and Dreamhack of MarineKingPrime. We, then talk about how the use of GSL videos is in appropriate. 2. He puts a disclaimer at the end of the video.... 3. Wolf himself commented that he liked the video in this thread and he works for gom.... 4. Hes only using clips of matches, not the entire thing.

I appreciate you standing up for GOM's intellectual property, but don't bring it on this thread, PM me if this really is an issue.
These montages/contemplation videos have a really thin line that if crossed it is stealing intellectual property. But this video only shows small clipets of sets, and in a way it will generate more interest in GOM, SC2 and esports.

Just type GSL into youtube. In top five ( by viewrship) pages there is only Idra and Fruitdealer videos (and there is a lot of crap), strange?

I just watched the NaNiWa video and I agree that the caster murmur under the music in the MarineKingPrime montage is an improvement. "More sports-like feel" is a good way to put it.
I love watching him. Even though he had the most BS all in's in S2, it just made Nestea's victory all that more awesome. He's a fun player to watch. I hope foreign tournament organizers take your suggestion OP. It's not ALL about skill, it's also about having fun and being entertaining as the Allstar tourny hopefully showed people last weekend. I'd love to see MKP overseas, and on east coast USA preferably!.
I actually really liked it - there have been a few attempts at highlight vids that just haven't gone down right but this is a nice one the old maps are fun to see hehe
I am anxiously awaiting the day MKP wins a GSL! It'll be interesting to see if the world falls to pieces :p

And who are you exactly to start whining about this stuff? Don't you think if gom disliked it THEY would contact the OP. If anything, its free advertising for them so why would you think they don't like it?
Anyway, great video, although i have to agree with letting the commentators shine a bit more next time.

Truth be told. That was close spawns on Metalopolis. No one in the world thought a Zerg can hold it. But NesTea did it.
This is superbly done, and absolutely amazing. All of your work has been extremely awesome! I look forward to everything that comes out of your brain dude. =D

ThankS, think I'm gonna do a Zerg video next, idk for who though -.-
It's a bit demeaning to call MKP an all-show-no-go-but-I-don't-care player. I'm sure MKP is a true competitor and not actually trying to Harlem Globtrot his way to a GSL championship... sorry, had to nitpick your quote. ._.

He went pure bio no tanks in a buncha games vs ganzi/other terrans in code a finals lol, even when technically mech is stronger. Idk seems pretty stylistic.
On September 14 2011 09:46 Sarang wrote: So, what's the reasoning for using a clip of Polt and passing it off as MarineKing?
It was brought up a lot in the first few pages but I never saw an explanation for it.
Actually it was a complete mistake on my part mixed folders with the clips together, but im not going to take down the video just for that one clip.
Regardless MKP probably has had A LOT of influence on Polt's playstyle anyways seeing they both are heavy bio terrans and on the same team, and actually tank line busting with stimmed bio really did stem from marineking if im not mistaken.
Very very very good video man love it i was wondering if u could do like a mma montage? his crazy multitasking and things i think that would be awsome. Couse i cant seem to find any montage of mma on youtube or anywhere so and u seem to like doing things like this and are your montages are really good^^.

Sure maybe in the future but I really wanna make a Zerg one for now because there are already protoss/terran vids out. Suggestion for a Zerg player :3?
