One of my guys got bronze, but he's too weak to compete seriously in the bronze tournament, so he's stuck in Online Warrior with no other options. Theres the team league too. Personally I loathe team tournaments. Not only do I not have a team of all ace players (thus guranteeing my loss), but every single player on the team loses ELO at some point in the tournament. Often many times. That, coupled with the fact that for some reason my top guys lose more ELO than they ever gain in tournaments these days, really causes me frustration. It'd be cool if the 2v2 stat came into play in team tournies, but it doesn't, so I get creamed. Why would 2v2 be included in a team tournament? I'd like the see the round end if you win the majority games instead of potentially going 4:3 or something ridiculous. I'll take my 4:0 thanks.
But lately that hasn't been a big deal in Lagmaster, sweeping 6:1 and 7:0.

They have 2v2 in the EG's Master Cup. That's prob why.

Crap,
I just joined one team tourney to see if it's really as bad as I'd thought. Lost first round 4:1, average team ELO dropped by 10 points. FML.

If you're level 2 team then I'd suggest to stay away from the team tourneys. There's a big influx of players with multiple 2400-2600 players on their teams competing in the tourneys. It's only because there isn't many team tourneys that they can participate in to get their xp to level up quicker to level 3.
Those like me who are stuck and in need of ELO to get promoted are getting stomped in teamleagues and we just delay our own promotion Level 3 will take a while without teamleagues since you level faster that way.

Average Elo of the whole team means Jack-sh** if you're only playing 7 out of 20..

Not really the best to give advice but one would be to not get crazy on the Free Agent market to buy some expensive players. You don't need a team with 20 players ^^ Play with the 4 you have and try to find some "good players" that you will pay a low salary. Best is if you can find some average players for 15-20$ max. don't get crazy and overbid to 80$ for example or you will have money problem fast. Try to learn the game in the 2-3 first days.
Read the FAQ it really helps when you just started ^^
For the strategy it seems you can simply use "Balanced" for a very long time. don't try to edit the all for now, you can do that in a few days when you understand the game better and analyze the "replays".
Try to get 2-3 "Entertaining Streamer" in your team for the merchandising $.
You can stack the trainings (use 3 times "dedication" for example if you need to up this stat quickly) so do it if one stat is really looking bad.
The stats that matters are : macro, micro, vX, dedication, endurance. Get those up (more than 6) and you will have a good player.
If you can get them try the "no life" players, they train harder so that means your stats get up faster.
Hope it helps a bit (and that i'm not wrong xD).

Keeping in mind about half my team are streamers or prospects who have never played :/

There is nothing wrong with having a large team if it's composed of prospects and streamers. It's all money.
Try for more than 2-3 Streamers once you can afford it and don't pay much for them, they don't really seem to earn THAT much for a team in merchandising.
Dedication is only an important stat if your player is young. The older they are the less the stat will pay off and you're better off focusing in Macro, Micro, Multitasking and vX. Endurance only needs to be ~2.5-3. I can't imagine you'll be spamming a single player in every tournament. The more players you have the less required it is. Just make sure it's high enough to go through a full tournament without going below energised/rested.
Try NOT to get "No Life" players. They are counter-intuitive to streamers because they generally have lower appearance and popularity. Try to obtain Macro Monster players. Work their dedication and they'll pay off in the long run.
Younger is ALWAYS better if all things are equal, which is quite obvious. Try to pick up younger players with okay stats and train them up rather than good older players who may only need work in one skill area. It'll pay off in the long run.
Avoid IdrA GG timing players. I personally also try to avoid Greedy and Yellow Fever players. Macro Monsters and cheesers are the way to go.

Yeah the servers are a huge problem but seems that in the future it will be better. Any news on that ?

It's not possible to win anything. Even with a 2400 ELO Player. No Idea where all these imbalanced 2700+ players are from. Even in 100$ tourneys there are plenty of 2600+ players :/

Team tournaments are very easy to win and is how I have managed to fund my team. I've also noticed the skills of teams/players entered fluctuates based on time zones. A lot of the better teams/players are on at this time and less so in about 8-10 hours.

There are a lot of teams who fight over 1st place in the team tournaments, and I'm the one who usually takes 2nd place behind them.
