I understand that replicating the Tastosis chemistry is near impossible. (The reason Tastosis is amazing is BECAUSE of their chemistry/the way they can play off eachother.)
But I kinda feel like moletrap just pretty much hates whoever he casts with.
There are always long awkward pauses.
Someone is always left hanging
They are always arguing or disagreeing about something during a cast.
And then they try to make a joke that is even semi interesting and it just falls flat on its face, resulting in two guys looking at eachother laughing nervously, both realizing what they said was not funny =/
IDK.
I dont like Husky/TotalBiscuit/HD either tho, and a lot of people do.
So casting all just comes down to your taste i guess.
Because everyone has what they want to hear while they watch.
some like the play by play screaming. some like funny accents and lack of knowledge, some like terribly annoying casters, some like the funny charismatic casters.
Just depends on your taste.
GL to moletrap tho as he is a nice guy

that is awesome news. Congratulations Moletrap!

Husky is super boring, I'll agree with you there. Not too familiar with HD
I like TotalBiscuit for a few reasons, he was a great in the WoW community, so it's cool for me to see him transition to another game. I don't feel like his game knowledge is terrible though, from what I've seen, he isn't bad at calling things, I'm sure his lack of actual game skill is mostly mechanics because he seems pretty in tune with the game dynamics. He really seems to mesh well with other people when casting which is important.

I'm glad to see Moletrap casting long term. He's one of the guys that genuinely loves the game.
|
He did pretty well today, not running over co-casters is all I care about.
|
I am very satisfied with all current GSL casters, including Moletrap. They all seem to have more than enough passion for the game. Torch and Unstable were also good (haven't seen them in a while).
Kelly and Gunrun made me realize that things could be much, much worse. I think GomTV made a good decision regarding Moletrap.

This thread is an impressive demonstration of humans natural trending towards blind, partisan positions (on both sides.)
It makes me wish I wasn't a hardcore pragmatist sometimes. Because humans and their stupidity (yes, this is a tangent) bleed into every aspect of the world in some way or another. I almost find that the internet is a place where I find more people to disagree with than not, despite being on a forum dedicated to one of my favorite hobbies.

kelly is arguable, as lots of people HATE accents that aren't british. Personally, I prefer a thick chinese accent over the tone of voice that moletrap or, sadly, wheat (I still love wheat, but his voice is as unfortunate as mine) happen to have.
But insulting gunrun just strikes me as wrong. How could you ever be mean to someone who didn't really want the job, he was just happier than all fucking get-out just to be casting a few games. Sure, he may not be the right fit for GOM, but damnit, I'm glad he got his 15 minutes. He's just so HAPPY, I wanted to hug him.
And gunrun has a pretty goddamn smooth voice. That man should do radio, if nothing else.

You do realize there is a massive difference between whining and critiquing someone right?
Just saying "Omg his voice is soooo annoying" is whining. It's not a flaw in the product, it's how the product comes. He can't help you that you find his voice is annoying, and there's nothing he can do about it even if he wanted to help you. However saying "He keeps interrupting, his loud, faked enthusiasm" or whatever you want to say is critiquing. Just thought I would say that, because with that your #1 is pretty moot.
You can change your voice in how you are perceived. Try saying something in a polite, asking tone, and then saying it again, word for word, in a demanding, ordering tone. It's what tasteless did (contrary to claims of it being his smoking) he changed his entire voice because he wanted to cast. His voice slowly got deeper and more commanding in tone. He used to sound a lot more like his brother.
Not saying all casters should do it, but personally I think moletrap could work on all aspects of his speech and delivery.

There's alot of people who think Moletrap is ok but can improve. I'm pretty sure alot of people show their support in a noncritical way just because of the many critical whiny comments in this thread.
Also you talk about human stupidity, you showed some yourself today by embarassing yourself in the "koreans backing out of NASL"-thread by first accusing GOM of bullying other tournaments when it was GOM who tried to mediate between the two parts. You then defended NASL while saying that noone but koreans complained while there were several prior posts about Naniwa and Sen mentioning the exact same thing about NASL scheduling being shitty.

And you betray some yourself right now. Did I ever mention not being human, myself?
Also, I'd hardly call it embarassing myself. Someone informed me of the details about me being wrong about GOM being the body behind the back-out, and I immediately apologized.
I was also unaware about naniwa or sen's complaints. And what the hell, didn't naniwa basically blow strelok off in their match that NASL had worked pretty hard to be forgiving with, giving him time to get home from the train and sleep before his match? But that's neither here nor there for this thread. If you want to update me on sen/naniwa's scheduling problems, and why they were the NASL's fault, please PM it to me because I am genuinely interested.
So thanks for trying to put my own foot in my mouth after I had already readily admitted fault and changed my position based on new information presented (that's how pragmatism works. We can be wrong, we just change our opinions based on what the current situation's logic holds.) You just demonstrated yet another example of why I really, really hate the internet. I think I'm going to bow out of TL for a while. It's just too... stressful.

im not really fond of moletrap myself. mostly because i find his commenary lacking ad his voice annoying but hope fully he will improve. definitely on the higher end of casters just not the top :\
|
I watched the Thorzain-YugiOh series last night and forced myself to get over moletrap's high pitch voice.
Is it just me, or does his blahblah seem to be lacking in informative/technical insight on what's happening in the game? That's the main thing I love about Tastosis and the other casters. Kelly seemed (FWIR) to know more about the game - if you can get past her accent.
Anywho, I hope that moletrap is actively looking at the criticisms and challenge himself to improve. He's already there at gom - better make the most out of it.

Can they please hire someone who knows anything about SC2? Moletrap sucks.
|
WHYYYY!!!!!!
Doa/Wolf combo is actually pretty damn good. I like it almost as much as I like the Tastosis combo.
Moletrap/Doa is awful, because of Moletrap obviously. Moletrap+anything is always just terrible, I don't see how anyone can co-commentate with him. Moletrap just comes off as a complete BW elitist douche who if you ever say anything wrong, jokingly or not, he calls you out on it. Get him out of there please.
|
Wolf is great, not so much a fan of Doa at ALL (I find his game knowledge really bad, and he says dumb stuff a lot). I wouldn't mind Moletrap if it weren't for the fact that he tends to be an asshole to his co-casters.
Wolf/QXC was by far my favourite, with Wolf/Torch coming in second.

I am not trying to be mean and I don't know why Gunrun was chosen to cast in the past. I mentioned him and my opinion of his casting ability to clarify my point: I am satisfied with the current casters and I think they are better than some previous ones.
I'm sure lots of people "HATE" accents that aren't British (I know no such people). Many times I simply couldn't understand what Kelly was saying, especially when the game got hectic. I can understand everything Moletrap says.
The GSL season ticket is a product, and I'm a GomTV customer. Like someone mentioned earlier, a customer has the right to complain if he/she is not satisfied with the service they have paid for. I did so earlier on the GomTV forum and I hope it, in some small way, affected Gom's decisions regarding the casters.
|
I'm a little indifferent on this one. While I like his personality and demeanor, I'm not really a fan of his style of casting. So many times he wants to tell a story that gets cut off by actual casting or he will just echo what his co-caster is saying.
When I see him in the seat casting it seems more like he is just a guy talking about Starcraft rather than being a professional caster bringing knowledge and play analysis to the table.
I think if he reads this thread and takes the criticism to heart, he can be a very good caster. At least GOM is a good place for him to get better quickly. Best of luck to Moletrap!
|
Moletrap's got a good casting voice and a clear passion for the game, but I do feel his shortcomings bother me more than the other casters'.
IMO he should really work on his chemistry with Wolf/Doa, and not interrupt them so much. He seems too used to casting solo and often oversteps the co-casting boundary trying to do analysis, which Wolf is much, much better at due to more game knowledge.
|
All I have to say is that Wolf is by far the better they had..... He should always be joined by a pro alongside... all the others look ridiculous and un-professional.
