I was wondering if there's a reason why Starcraft 2 doesn't have victory music like BW, WC1/2/3 has? I mean, some of them are pure awesomeness and create a bigger feeling of achievement in some occasions.
Take for example the warcraft 2 human victory, damn it's awesome:
Imagine Terran victory with the instruments the regular themes got, gotta be awesome right?
Anyways, just want to hear you guys' opinion on this!
imo tho i kinda agree! in addition to that I wish we got more stuff to look @ on Score screen. they promised quite a bit and really fell through in that department
Blizzard, like every company, wants to create the best game(s). And to do that you need to add the small stuff, because when the small stuff stacks up it does make a huge difference.
If anything, I think it should have the lose Music from Mario Kart 64 But honestly: I think the win/lose generally comes so fast and Most people go to score screen immediately that it is Not needed
The victory music in BW war is awesome. It gives me such a feeling of satisfaction and excitement to hear it. I still remember the first time my brother beat me at BW (we were LANing in the same room), after he won he turned the volume way up so I cold hear the protoss victory music and started laughing at me (I was beaking him before about how he would never beat me).
I also like the race appropriate victory backgrounds from BW. It would be cool if they made a few for each race so you could have random one each time (same with loss backgrounds).

The score screen is when the win/loss music would appear, just like in BW and WC3.
Hell we don't even need new music, I'd be fine with the ones we had in BW, they were awesome, even the loss tracks were sweet.
That way you will really try to not loose cause after some losses you will go mentally retarded. Also you need to hear the whole song when you loose, theres no way to quit.

And your volume would immediately be turned up to loudest and your chair would start extending straps to hold you down, eh? :D
OT: this would be awesome, but with the interface that we have in SC2 menu, it would be kind of weird to implement for Blizzard. In Brood War, the score screen was separate from the rest of the menus, while the SC2 interface is homogenised. That said, I'd LOVE IT if Blizzard had implemented a victory/loss music somehow in the game.
There's a way to replace the "replay saved" voice in SC2gears with custom sounds, including music. Instead of the voice, you could hear a song after every game.
oh man this would be awesome, i think i'm gonna try to manually play FF7 music when i win. lose music can just make you feel even more like shit though, maybe not required. although maybe play eye of the tiger to get you back in fighting spirit.
i think it isnt that hard to write a plugin to play that sounds. We allready have "Game started" and "Replay saved" cause of Events. SC2Gears just have to watch last game, if win = playsound - if lose = play diffenrent sound
Not that i ever care about small details like this, but i guess it would be nice to have something more than "has left the game" after you defeat someone.

Oh sorry, misunderstood. I always have all music turned off entirely.
isn't there some tool in windows that you can make shortcuts with? if so couldn't you make a shortcut for F10-q/n for loose/win? i forget if there's a differant one for each, i usually click score screen when i when, shortcut when i loose

Hahaha, We'd see alot more damaged equipment from laddering/tournament losses I think .

I dunno if any of you are genuinely interested in having these, or just messing around, but in case anyone does, I'll post how to do it anyway. For those of you who don't already know, you need to download MPQEditor for this to work. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod and open base.SC2Assets.MPQ with the mpq editor. Once open, go to Assets. All the default sounds for the victory music are in the Music folder, but for some reason Blizzard aren't using the most obvious looking ones titled "TerranSC2-Victory" etc. Instead they're using a bunch of random ones.
Use this download as a template. I prepared this to work for Final Fantasy 6 fanfare. If you want your own, find the track you want, copy it as many times as there are files in the download and rename them all accordingly. After that, you'll need to convert them to a .ogg file format which you can do at http://media.io/.
Wow totally agree. I would love Victory\Loss music at the score screen. I'm not sure why they changed so much from the Warcraft\Starcraft games in Starcraft 2, but victory music is a must for these games.
Kay, prepared an example of working victory music replaced by FF6 fanfare. A well deserved triumphant victory for an enthralling action-packed micro-intensive game.
Like I was saying earlier, to install, open base.SC2Assets.MPQ with the mpq editor. Once open, go to Assets and drop the extracted download there.
To make your own, just find an audio you like and copy it multiple times, renaming each copy with one of the names of the audios in the download until you have a copy for each name. If you find the volume is too low, you can go to base.sc2data -> Gamedata -> SoundData.xml as Existor was saying, then find the following line using ctrl + f.
<CSound id="UI_MissionComplete" parent="UI">
Change the value next to Volume below that line to increase/decrease it.

Will not work. Because copy of this file is also placed in every patch.
Just change volume if your song in any sound editor, like Cool Edit Pro or Soundforge.
And I have question. HOW you did, that it not plays bnet theme?

How do you mean? If the audio was long enough, it just kept playing for me after I left the game. Also, could you not just modify the Base19132 along with it?
They should just use these if they are too lazy to implement new ones! It is quite sad even to win since theres not that much glory in SC2 now. It was pretty sweet to win SC1 with the screen that popped up to show you won(and the little sound) and the score screen.

It occured to me, I don't actually have background music turned on, so when I'm in the menus I don't hear anything other than clicking buttons sounds. The reason yours cuts out is probably because it gets cancelled once the menu music triggers.

I love you.
Btw is there a way to do something like that for defeat too?
Yeah. the defeat audios are called "UI_Stinger_DefeatPanelGeneric", "UI_Stinger_Complete02", "UI_Stinger_Complete03" and "UI_MissionFailed"
A new Sc2gears has been released with a new "The Sound of Victory" plugin which plays an audio file after each of your games based on your match result (win or loss). You can choose your own Victory and Defeat audio files.
