Succeed: Boxer--Entertaining strategies even when he loses. Would love to see him in the GSL again. Huk--Lots of hard work and recent results, a great piece of evidence for the efficacy of hard work. White-Ra--Innovative and haven't heard much about him recently, very entertaining.
Fail: Idra--Can't get over his game-losing ragequits, never been a fan. Major--Eww

Oh god I hope Haypro finally places high , he deserves it so bad.

TO WIN
Boxer - One of the few terrans I hope come far into the tournament, incredibly solid play, brings gameplay that goes beyond extreme macro and micro and brings forth other elements, like building placement, positioning, control etc. Small things it might seem but really just overall army control has been the lacking for terrans.
Idra - Incredibly solid player who has fallen not due to lacking gameplay but weak psyche, however he is the foreigners best hope in this tournament and one of the best players in the world currently.
Destiny - I hope he comes far, he wants to prove that he can and I respect that - I am saying far because he is not good enough, but his determination and improvement has earned a spot in my heart
TO FAIL
Spanishiwa - Incredible amounts of disgusting fanboys, and it hurts to put him here because I know Spanishiwa is an incredible mannered player and has in his stream fought to fight the fanboyism that will only hurt him in the end.
Huk - Wins two tournaments and all of a sudden hes praised to the heavens, hes gotten fanboys who think more about dreamhack then gsl etc.
Marineking - Was a fun addition to the sc2 esport scene, but he does not have what it takes to come top in the tournament.
Bonus
However whitera I do really hope wins and/or comes far, hes just overall solid and a great player.

Huk-I cannot even think of a reason to say why he should win or go far with out saying something obvious, I think MLG should be added to his list of accomplishments and I was bummed when I found out he wasnt going to be at columbus, Im so happy he is here now.
Why is MLG not in his list of accomplishments? I thought he won the first one.

Almost feels like the OP made this concept as a way to have a lengthy attack on Spanishiwa.
Who I want to do well:
QXC Boxer DeMuslim
Fail: Destiny IdrA CatZ

1: Huk was the ace for oGs vs Prime in the GSTL... I don't really like Huk but I don't think you know what you're talking about. He also beat the likes of Moon and July in DH so...
2: MKP isn't even in MLG and I don't know why you would call him a "fun addition" to the scene :/

I don't get it, is Idra fanboys better than spanishiwa's? And how MK is a fun addition?

top in tournament ? Do you know how many important finals he played. He really deserves a win, besides being very young and is at the start of his career.

SUCCEED
Boxer - This really needs no explaining and basically everyone who has posted includes the Emperor in their top 3 to win.
Major - Partly because he's getting so much hate over the SEA tournament, mostly because I saw him play at Columbus (live) and he was a great player, didn't fuck around (incontrol tries to goad him into bming the first time they play and major just quietly comes out and beats him with solid play and no bm), and was really endearing in the interviews ("What do you have to say to your fans out there?" "Well I don't think I really have any fans"). Haters gon' hate.
MVP - I'd love to see him get some confidence back after his recent losses and return to almost-bonjwa status, but I really doubt that'll happen. Still, it'd be nice.
FAIL
Idra - Zerg is doing perfectly fine in tournaments, the indisputable best player in the world is Zerg, and many of the players Idra has talked shit about and to (Destiny, Huk, Nestea around GSL3 time, Zenio, etc) are posting some great results. Not to mention EG is just looking less and less attractive as a team/organization every day (although I still really like Machine and DeMuslim...haven't really seen enough of inka/LZ/axslav to have a strong opinion).
Incontrol - Not to come off like I just want EG to fail, but inc has been coasting in tournaments based on his 2010 (pre koreans/europeans) results and is such a hypocrite when it comes to manner. Acts like the biggest and nicest suckup in live events yet BMs like a madman on his stream against virtually everyone, not to mention is extremely unapologetic for any actions taken by EG. I used to like him before he left SotG but in the last 4-5 months I've really lost a lot of respect for him. (I don't want to get banned or I'd bring up the r-word too).
Out-of-Practice Pro Foreigners - Not to sound like a koreaboo, but if we want "foreigner" starcraft to be as competitive and high level as the Korean events and tourneys with Koreans, some of the sponsored players who don't put enough time into the game need to get their butts kicked by those who do. I don't have anyone in mind in particular, but if you look at the best games we've seen in foreign tourneys (opinions ahead), they've all had koreans. Losira v MMA on Shattered Temple, MC vs Puma (all 7 games), MC vs Losira (especially that hydra nydus on Tal'Darim), and Huk's games in HSC and Dreamhack. Huk is canadian, sure, but he hasn't left korea since he got there aside from going to win European tournaments. Long story short, if we want to see the same level of competition we get from Koreans (not 100% of the time, but at the top tier of players), the foreign scene needs to step their game up.

Yeah, don't think he has what it takes now for this tournament, but later on sure, just because hes young and is at the start of his career does not warrant a win especially regarding competition
PS: I read the brackets and its stayed marineking - is that a smurf trolling me :3 ?
Regarding HUK - Yeah hes won a few big tournaments and is currently riding a wave, however I don't think he will win or come top 4.
Regarding idra - Yes I think spanish fanboys are worse then idra as even spanishiwa seems uncomfortable with the Spanishiwa > idra talk. Idra has results to back up his gameplay.
Also shoutout to incontrol and hope he does good :D

Succeed:
Idra - Hasn't been as impressive lately, but still one of the only foreigners who managed to not get steamrolled by the koreans last MLG, and I hope he can repeat that, or hopefully do even better. Huk - The GSL loss must've been a bit of a morale loss, but the Ace showing in GSTL was pretty impressive. I'd be fucking ecstatic if Huk, together with my 3rd "Succeed", can kick DRG out of the tournament already in pool play. Naniwa - An all-round baller, not to mention he's Swedish. Wouldn't mind seeing him take his second MLG win, although I don't think that'll happen. Maybe next MLG however.
Fail:
Koreans - Cause foreigners FIGHTING! MajOr - Karma Don't really have a third one :3
|
Fuck 3 I want DRG, Idra, Destiny, Huk, Major, Boxer and Kiwikaki to all do really well
|
Hope does well:
1. MVP 2. Boxer 3. Alicia
Hope fails:
No one
|
To win
Boxer: Obvious reasons
MVP: He needs to find his old self.
DRG: he needs a place in the gsl
To fail
Idra: since he went back from korea he became way worse, even in attitude. He has been sprouting vile lies for months about "3 hours a day is enough for sc2, it's so easy blablabla", and yet he has no results to back up this obviously false statement, other than protoss/terran is imbalanced lol. Koreans practice their heart out every day, and they win, What DO YOU DO?
Incontrol : whomever still likes him is just delusional. After the last mlg he tweeted "we are gonna prepare hard, we are gonna practice for the next one asap, we will win". To this day, what have they done? What have they accomplished? (as the whole eg team) Their training house isn't even up yet!
Drewbie: his champ bracket spot is fit for someone more deserving than him.

To win or place high Tyler Destiny QXC
And Foreigners over Koreans!
|
To win:
Qxc -> Awesome player who fell our of favour a little while he was in Spain and not playing much
Jinro -> I'd love for Jinro to start pwning newbs again and I think he'll at least start placing higher again soon, MLG could be a good starting point for his comeback to power.
Idra -> I'm really not a fanboy, I kinda dislike the guy but I feel like I want to be able to cheer for him. Every time he's doing well in a tournament I'm thinking "is this going to be the time Idra gets somewhere and doesn't fuck it up and posts a good result?" and then he murders a series with someone he should be able to beat and puts be right back to disliking him again.
To Fail:
MMA -> I just feel like he's lost his edge a little, I'd be happy to be proven wrong...
FXO minus qxc -> They hyped me right up going to korea like that and with the exception of qxc (and sheth) I was disappointed with their play in general.
'Protoss' -> cause god I hate PvP and I don't really enjoy PvZ either.

After reading this thread, I just want Spanishiwa to knock your favorite player out of the tournament.
|
To Do Well:
1. Destiny- He has been practicing extremely hard lately! Even with the lag hes dealing with he is facing off against high level Master players on KR and winning with little to no problems most of the time.
2. Sheth- He is now team-less and a high placement in MLG will definitely have teams looking at him! Very nice guy and a skilled player.
3. KiwiKaki - I believe this is the first MLG he has been too as apart of RGN. He didnt do well in the last MLG, I am hoping this one is different.
To Do Poorly:
1. Incontrol - I used to like this guy, watched his stream every single time it was on. Then I realize, this guy is really more annoying than entertaining. The whole EG clan is just becoming more and more of a joke.
2. Idra - I like this guy, I love watching this guy! I just think that he gets paid to throw these games, and to create a buzz. And if I am wrong then EG needs to have a VERY serious talk about why Idra keeps throwing away wins.
3. Any Korean! I have nothing against them. This is more of a 'Why Koreans in a "NA"SL' type of thing that is carrying over to MLG. Wasn't it like Top 8 NASL, Nobody from NA left? Can we just rename it the WWSL (World Wide Star League)

I agree, I would have never though Spanishiwa would ever get this much criticism. Although I am oblivious to his fanboy base(I never read JTV chat, its fucking retarded filled with 14 year olds), Spanishiwa, from my experience, is one of THE MOST humble/mannered players in the game. He is soft spoken and genuine on stream and has a cute/unique style. I agree that he isn't amazing or topt tier yet but Im sure if you asked him he would readily admit the same. The hate really needs to stop its uncalled for... /rant

1) idra- terrible attitude, absolutely clueless about balance. he's one of the top foreigners, but he just can't deliver lately and his whining just makes me hate him even more 2) destiny- he's okay, but nothing special. pretty much the definition of why infestors need to be revamped. but i don't mind that so much as the fact that he's one of the most annoying people to listen to talk on his stream + his fanboys are extremely bad and irritating. 3) incontrol- awful, overrated, and sucked totally at casting NASL. this guy needs to stop playing sc2. 4) Haypro- even worse than incontrol 5) Drewbie- garbage
Why isn't this guy banned? Completely ridicolous bashing...
