All the statements of suicides and depressions are in fact true, and many public icons/celebrities are brought down to personal attacks and hate-groups. I believe, the few handful of individuals that criticized her affiliates could have been easily ignored. However, by commenting on their remarks and trying to defend and actively opening herself up for attacks, she lacked the foresight as a manager; thus the notorious photoshop of Eve and whatnot occurred afterwards. I have personally read a few of her replies and comments, they were illogical and very biased towards Boxer and the SlayerS team (which is understandable to a certain degree), but even by present on the internet given her celebrity status, I believe was a perhaps questionable move. The understatement is that more people would jump and try to provoke her given that she is famous and that she isn't a nobody. Nobody would care if 1 person tried to start shit online, it happens all the time on DC and whatnot. Still, in the end I hope for the best of SlayerS and wish Jessica the best Ah, I see. Good post. So in my own words, even considering the locations culture and stance on internet abuse. Calling such overt attention to the small people only made the situation much worse, fuel on the fire basically. I agree then.

Makes no sense to me. A professional player must be chosen only considering his results and not other factors at all. I find all this a bit sexist and disrespecteful to womans in general, but maybe its just me. So wait, the decision to expand a team without females to INCLUDE females is sexist? Is there some sort of indication that she took a spot that would have otherwise gone to a male gamer? Since when is inclusion of other groups a negative thing? By this logic, a Korean team that recruits a foreign player that's not the absolute best for the spot would be racist... -_-

However I don't agree with sentences such as: "Persistent online bullies are not "users of the internet" but "serious cyber criminals that call for justice". No. These people are not criminals, they're just idiots. You do not solve this by attacking those that do it, cyberbulling is someone we all have to learn to rise above as humans. To rise about it makes us stronger, it gives us character. By all means, chase against libel but don't waste your time trying to reprimand internet trolls. It doesn't work as a long term strategy because people, in groups (even without anonymity, e.g. Nazi's) will say stupid shit. It's not something you can "fix" but someone one needs to learn to defend oneself against. Like protecting oneself against mutalisks one just needs to teach people how to construct a missile turret in the mineral line.

It's strange to say this, but they way you describe your reasons for picking up Eve for your team is a little antifeminist. You don't need to justify her skill level by comparing her to male players, implying that it's harder for females. I feel your intentions are noble, and I fully support you in this. I agree that selecting a promising, young female player with a little bit of proven success already is a good way to promote female players in Starcraft. If Eve is successful, she could be a big inspiration for other female gamers, and that's great. ![]() ![]() I hope in the future, you can take a different approach to handling the hateful remarks. Instead of firing back, I think it would be better to do what you can to shield her from the negative attention and encourage her development as a player. Let her future results shut them up in due time.

You might brush off the Female League as being insignificant because the players are Silvers and Golds but in reality, it is no mean feat for a female to reach Master level while laddering against males. It is difficult for the average male player, too." I feel a bit... icky about this. I dont know why, but females arent as good at sc2 as guys. just a fact of life, so as a female gamer, she is impressive and deserves respect etc. But that doesn't mean that she should be eligable for a pro team. Im not sure if her spot would have gone to someone else if she had not been added to the team, but i have been in sporting situations where a girl of lesser skill got into the team (an "open" division, where there is also a womens only tournament going on at the same time) and let me tell you, it really sucks. I dont like selecting people because of their gender. Thats reverse sexism almost. Selection should be based on skill level, ability to train, and how well they get along with the team. (no point having combatex on your team, no matter how good he is - not implying he is good, hyperthetical) But at the same time, who are we to doubt the decisons of BoxeR?

No one will respect a gamer that has everything handed to them. People respect gamers that earn their place through hard work and struggle. You're just setting Eve up to be hated and ridiculed by everyone out there who actually put in the work to get their placements. This is at best dishonorable and an embarrassment to aspiring female gamers. A female gamer that gains her place through her own abilities and skill would not only be respected by the gaming community, but also far more of an inspiration to aspiring female gamers than a random person getting a hand out. It would say to female gamers, "If she can do it I can do it to." That hand out kind of situation inspires nothing. No one will look up to a player that has hasn't earned their place. What are you trying to say to female gamers? Do decently and someone might give you a hand out? "I wanna be like Eve and be given charity someday." "Eve is really inspiring me to work hard at being decent in SC2, so I can wait for hand outs."

You know what else you can't stop? Theft and murder. There will always be theft and murder but that doesn't mean you don't punish those responsible when you can. And I'm not saying cyber-bullying is as serious as these crimes but just because you can't eliminate something completely doesn't mean you shouldn't try.

Thanks to him, I am receiving hatemail from foreigners on my twitter, too. This saddens me. Don't worry, we all know this website, like others, has a gigantic amount of spastics. Just look at the last thread on this topic, such a large amount of the people were coming to conclusions about things without: (A) Being presented with any evidence of the accusations. (B) Having any background knowledge of the accusations, or hearing both sides in full. Human stupidity penetrates everywhere, including the "educated" TeamLiquid membership.
