This happens in pro sports all the time. You never go talk to the management in pro sports you talk to the agent. I was beginning to wonder if agents would ever be involved in e-sports. You people need to stop being butt hurt over something that's not a big deal. If Puma left to join EG it's probably because they're going to accommodate him better than TSL is. Which is what he deserves for being a great player.
So now you guys don't care that it's better for the individuals training if it's worse for a team? lulz. You see, the coach IS the agent. Does a coach get money for signing the player to another team ? no. The coach is the manager, far different from an agent. One slight problem is that Sc2 leagues haven't developed to the point where their is actually a market. So you actually can't talk about agents yet, because it is simply preposterous. EDIT: Managers are the players only "formal" outside link with all the negotiations and stuff too for now in sc2. Managers are not the agents in any manner at all. The players are their own agents. Managers are simply that, managers. They run the team and try to sign players. Like I have said, the players don't have agents yet. The next closest thing to an Agent would be a Manager. No it wouldn't. Managers in sc2 work just like managers in other sports. An agent strictly works on deals for his player and talks to teams about getting his player signed and will come in and mediate between managers if a trade is on the horizon (not usually though, its more like when a team wants to trade a player or the player wants to be traded and the agent has the go ahead to look for a trade). The players in sc2 are their own agents. Managers are nothing like agents. Even in acquiring players from other teams, they are still like a sports manager making trades.
In most sports teams, they talk to the managers first right? I dunno, I guess I have to wait for more information before speculating any further.

I have 2 feelings about this, 1 good 1 bad.
Good: Amazing korean SC player joining a team that is one of the best teams out there, a great signing picking up one of the most amazing players at the moment
Bad: Player sniping needs to stop/be regulated. If TSL are 'releasing' him, it means they are getting no money back from what they invested into him. When will the player sniping stop? We've had teams like FXO take players from other teams. So many teams are just taking players at any point...it just seems silly to me to not have some kind of regulation to stop/keep this happening at the same point. We need a global body to moderate actions of teams (like FIFA) and have maybe 3 windows a year where players can be transfered/ drafted kind of like SCBW. Without it teams are going to lack consistency and lose players that should not be leaving.
We need something in place to stop this! WWESA? (World Wide Esports Associsation?)
FXO picking up Oz was not player sniping it was done with contact through the proper channels in fOu and in an ethical manner. A fact attested to by the fact that they then picked up fOu as a whole after that something that wouldnt happen if their relationship was ruined by sniping a player from their team.

this thread is full of more irrational emotion fueled posts than a live report thread, im out.

You have no idea what EG can afford, or what sponsors are lined up or how much sponsorship money they have coming in, so how can you say they can't afford that?

This isnt a health environment for e-sports. If money could actually buy any player from any team, the whole league system is meaningless. That's why there is KeSPA in BW and there is why there are transferring market in well established sports like soccer/basketball.

If thats the case, who will translate? or can he speak english? Idra The Translator? For a Terran? I didnt even think of that. Can anyone on EG speak korean? Maybe idra a little? At least FXO had guys that spoke korean BEFORE getting koreans (oz)

that looks respectable.
time to kick out the dead wood in incontrol, machine, axslav, strifcro and lz and employ more poaching shenanigans. demuslim isn't even close to those 2 lol... you're right, he's not their equal yet, but the poor bastard broke his arm. he's just settling, or about to settle back into a good practice environment. before the arm break he was one of the top terrans in europe and there's no reason he can't regain his top form again. edit: and as someone else noted, it's his tvz that's really causing him trouble at the moment. and guess who he's in the states practicing with?
Not idra, since he doesn't practice much anymore.
Dick move by EG, but I always thought they were a "bad" team anyways.

this is actually really sad, i mean the i really feel for the coaches, spending all that time training one to become really good then he just moves on to a team more profitable. Not to mention the stress the coach had already from tester and fruitdealer leaving....

EG is one of the oldest progaming teams in the business, just some insight for you folks.
They've always had some heavy hitters on their roster.

Something definetly needs to be done about foreign teams making offers to players who are already on teams. If a player wants to leave his team for a foreign team that's fine but just blatantly stealing them not cool.
|
oh oh Idra no longer the star of the team
|
TSL should go and steal Idra now.

Moonan and I think SLog. Could be confusing him with tgun though.

Doesn't he have a contract with TSL?

On the contrary; teams must give their ok for an approaching team to be allowed to even talk to the player, before -anything- else.
There are so many wrong comparisons to other sports in this thread, it's unbelivable. Stop it.
Related to the topic: Well, we all know that EG is the BM team #1 in SC2, but I am really, really disappointed in Puma. Hope he meets DRG in the next Code A qualifier.

I dont understand what the big deal is since TSL LET PUMA OUT OF HIS CONTRACT
|
I thought in major sports, teams couldn't just approach a player who's already under contract? Isn't it tampering? Don't teams get punished for that?

the Yankees of SC2 lol
this is a sick addition to EG
