This is not professional sports you moron. There are not contracts, these players are free game and have free roam to do whatever they want. If TSL is paying him next to nothing, I'm surprised he hasn't left yet, it's clear he was looking for a foreign team. And he will be paid better and treated better. You are a joke, ignorant opinion #1281. Get a fucking clue

Actually there are contracts in esports "moron", TSL granted puma's wish to leave. They could have kept him since he was still under contract.

A form of this comment has been posted about 20 times now.

This literally happened last week at the company i work for. A bigger company went behind my company's back and poached our employee. It's shady and it's not something a respectable company should do. It's a real snaky corporate America move.

No, it's not a sneaky corporate America move! People own themselves, their employers do not own them.

Believe it or not, but there are actually people behind a business and, especially with small businesses, hits like this can be incredibly crippling. It would be a respectful thing for EG to acknowledging TSL as a "brother" business in a growing field and respect them enough to negotiate and not poach. There is value in creating a positive image for your association. This is not a positive image.

It is well known that the EG coach is a little bit of a bad person. I don't want to take the liberty of calling him an asshole in a forum.

That being said, it is absolutely awesome that a player as good as PUMA is joining a foreigner team! Not only EG will benefit from it, but it also opens doors to a more dynamic trade of players between korea and abroad

Who the FUCK are you? You don't even know Scoots or Garfield's names. You are pathetic and ignorant. Get informed at least before you slander somebody on a forum.

Yet you insult him, and you assert he doesn't know their names yet you have no evidence for this. You do not know the information that's inside his brain. Quite ironic.

to topic : ye it will be hard to cheer on eg and more to cheer on puma in the future:/ Poor tsl.

Lol the amount of emotion you're putting into this move is comical. It's not really a big deal and not having players under contract is naive, if you dont have the money to pay them then someone else will.

They were salaried. And quite well.

Define "quite well", because I guarantee you the players will always go for more. Quite well becomes "not enough" pretty quickly when someone else with more money comes knocking.

Why is this scummy? This happens in pro sports all the time. You never go talk to the management in pro sports you talk to the agent. I was beginning to wonder if agents would ever be involved in e-sports. You people need to stop being butt hurt over something that's not a big deal. If Puma left to join EG it's probably because they're going to accommodate him better than TSL is. Which is what he deserves for being a great player.

So now you guys don't care that it's better for the individuals training if it's worse for a team? lulz.

You see, the coach IS the agent.

Does a coach get money for signing the player to another team ? no. The coach is the manager, far different from an agent.

One slight problem is that Sc2 leagues haven't developed to the point where their is actually a market. So you actually can't talk about agents yet, because it is simply preposterous.

EDIT: Managers are the players only "formal" outside link with all the negotiations and stuff too for now in sc2.

Managers are not the agents in any manner at all. The players are their own agents. Managers are simply that, managers. They run the team and try to sign players.

Like I have said, the players don't have agents yet. The next closest thing to an Agent would be a Manager.

And like I said two pages back, that's absurd. Your employer cannot be the arbiter of your employment terms, it's a complete conflict of interest.
Not supporting teams who take robber baron money.

Why all the outrage? It's fantastic that EG gets a great new player. And if Puma would've been happy with his old team he never would've left in the first place (I doubt EG offered him the incontrol "1 million dollars" for switching teams).

Competition in the sense that better players get better contracts from other teams can only be a good thing for the scene right? Make your players happy or fuck off.

A) Sweet news, I wonder how it's going to work and if he will move to the new EG house.

B) I don't get the outrage, EG made Puma an offer, Puma took it to TSL managment, they agreed to it and released him early. What's wrong with this series of events?

C) With Fruitdealer, Rain and now Puma choosing to abadon ship on TSL I can't help but wonder what the hell is happening behind closed doors over there that's making the players jump on chances to get out.

demuslim isn't even close to those 2 lol...

you're right, he's not their equal yet, but the poor bastard broke his arm. he's just settling, or about to settle back into a good practice environment.

before the arm break he was one of the top terrans in europe and there's no reason he can't regain his top form again.

edit: and as someone else noted, it's his tvz that's really causing him trouble at the moment. and guess who he's in the states practicing with?

Well EG is rumored to be building a team house so if they get their stuff together and start really pushing it, they could be quite formidable. Also, If puma stays in Korea, I think playing alone would be pretty bad for his skills, I would think he would have to travel to EG's house. no? If thats the case, who will translate? or can he speak english? Idra The Translator? For a Terran?

NO. Why do people think that if you do not have a team, you will be a shitty player? He probably has a good list of people that are good. Do you guys not remember all the interviews of the Korean players who give credit to players for helping them practice? Most of the time they mention players OUTSIDE their team.

I know that sounds bad, and I have nothing against Koreans! Trust me lol. It's just that PuMa is setting a precedent for other Koreans to come over to foreign teams and make more money, and if more Korean players start coming over then next thing you know they are dominating the foreign scene AND the Korean scene, taking all of the money from foreign players, and effectively making it harder to support yourself as a pro gamer in the west. So I guess what I am saying is that I feel like this might discourage some foreign players from pursuing a career in SC2, which is not good for the foreign scene overall.

Not exactly setting a precedent, MC and Nada representing SK in foreign events, PhoeNix in Reign, HwangSin in ItsGosu, Rain in Fnatic, I'm sure that I'm forgetting some but Koreans getting offers from foreign teams isn't new.

I just mean as far as a player being straight up bought out from another team. The details of these palyers signing's weren't really given as far as I know, so I don't know if it is a similar situation or not. But in this case a player was taken from another team, so that's kind of what I mean by setting a precedent. You are right though, this may not be the first case of this happening I'm not sure.

SC2 contracts != NBA, NFL or NHL contracts. Starcraft 2 players are not playing exclusively in a single league for millions of dollars under the draconian conditions of such a contract. The Teams are not under the heel of one organisation that has a monopoly on the market and officiates all matches and trades. SC2 is much more like Tennis or Snooker in terms of structure just withe added complication of team affiliation.

But as usual we'll have a couple hundred pages of people who know shit all talking just that. I'm calling it now, this will be part 3 of the ongoing saga of fabricated EG drama.

MC was approached I assume from SK at Homestory Cup (or just showed good relations which later turned into a sponsor) as he had a SK mouse pad and was living with at the time for the tourney with the SK product manager. So players being talked to by foreign teams might not be as unheard of.

Fucking hell. Firstly, this is horrible press for foreign teams. Absolutely shitty. Secondly, going behind management? Dodgy at best. Thirdly, Puma, I know money is great, but you just got 50k USD, and at the very least you could, y'know, wait until your contract expired?

Goddammit, what the hell is wrong with having a little professionalism in SC2?

Everything this man just wrote.

EG must be one of the most unprofessional teams there is. And I'm pretty sure that Puma will get bored when Incontrol, Idra and machine are "hitting the gym" - While Puma acctualy wants to improve in sc2.

Yes, because SC 2 players literally practice so much they can't do anything ever not involved with SC 2.

If you used your brain you would understand that what I ment is that Puma is used to practice SO much more then the rest of those guys, and I don't think it will be fitting at all for Puma.

Unless Puma played broodwar (I've no idea) as a pro in Korea I'd assume he's never practiced as much as Idra consistently in the same atmosphere. No need to use insults so aggressively kiddo.
