Why is this such a complicated issue? Make it simple.

Mr. Lee vs Sir Scoots MMA match

winner gets Puma

Thanks Milkis -- appreciate you taking your time to translate stuff for us <3

Current drama aside, I'm curious how this will turn out -- will it be good for Puma in the long run? Will it effect the pro structure in Korea? Will be interesting.

If you want to fault anyone, fault whoever originally released the information (and no it wasn't Milkis). Milkis just translated an article and linked us to the source he translated. He never represented anything else in the OP apart from the article that he posted. The response by Coach Lee was a later addition when it was released and I'm sure when EG provides a written response, the OP will be edited to include that as well.

The problem right now is the fact that there is in fact no written response from EG and therefore no "Other side of the story." to tell despite the fact that EG is clearly aware of the situation. Instead of ranting on Weapon of Choice, they should have just had someone from their staff write a response either on this thread, the source thread, or their website so it could be quoted. It isn't Milkis' job to go fact checking while translating an article nor is it his responsibility to run any form of damage control on EG's behalf either by sitting on already public information or speaking on their behalf.

From EG's standpoint. There is a logic reason for not commenting. Puma hasn't signed the dotted line as of yet, so until the deal is finalized they have nothing to comment.

During Weapon of Choice, Alex made it sound like he wished milkis tried to get a statement from EG...
Thats not how you go about trying to get a statement.

You don't think what milkis wrote implied that he was wanting information from EG regarding the situation? Milkis said he was on the edge of his seat, which means he really, really wants to hear something. Give me a break man, you're grasping at straws. It changes nothing about the fact that Alex KNEW about that Tweet and that he chose to lie to all of us hoping we'd be none the wiser. I can't believe that you guys are defending someone who was willing to lie to you. He tried to make you think milkis didn't contact EG. He knew he did. That is just so dishonest and underhanded...

I am really sorry if you feel attacked in anyway. I have great respect for the amount of work you done for the community, and is fully aware of how unappreciating we all can be.
Thank God and gunrun.

This is a very strong point that absolutely has not been made before.

I think it may also be important to look at this proposed question by EG.Alex as a opportunity to enhance the quality of our community based journalism. Instead of reacting defensively, we could try to improve ourselves as a community.

Coach Lee Woon Jae of TSL talked with TeamLiquid, trying to clear up some of the misunderstandings while explaining the situation from his point of view:

"It's not just TSL, but most Starcraft II teams right now run on trust and faith instead of contracts. Because of many similar occurances [to Puma's case], we plan to make contracts mandatory.

Puma was with us for ten months, and where we provided him and his teammates with a good practice environment, food, etc, and developed him as a player. The team didn't take any of the prize money a player earned, all of it went to the player. Unfortunately, Puma wished to join EG so we released him.

To acquire a player, contacting the original team regarding a transfer is a natural courtesy and the way things should be done. That is why I am very angry, and why it is huge topic in Korea right now. The Korean SC II association is preparing some measures, and I believe something similar won't happen again.

EG claims that Puma approached them first regarding joining their team, but this is not true. As I know it, EG's owner contacted Puma first. Not only Puma, but other Korean players."

This was expected. You see a loophole. You close it.

I dont get the personal attack on Geoff, He has absolutely nothing to do with this, and all he came in to say was that he has been competitive with koreans. Grow up.

soorry milklis about my tone. It's just that the past few pages of this thread has been filled with people posting old stuff. Also lack of sleep makes me cranky >_< I'm not annoyed at you really, just some of the people here. You had a long day shouldn't have said that.

I saw your twitter to PlayXP btw, how that going along?

Milkis may be called a translator but when he acts as a reporter he's a reporter. He's a journalist. FACT. If you're a basketball player, but you go play football, you're a fucking football player too.

Get that through your thick head.

When someone translates the President's speech in the United Nations General Assembly, as you may know, it doesn't make him a President. He would be still a translator.

Milkis is also JUST a translator. It was PlayXP's responsibility to approach EG and listen the story of their side before making the news.

Do you realize that Milkis wasn't the one who "broke" the news? The article was posted and blew up without Milkis' involvement. He just translated it for us non-Korean speaking saps.

He didn't "release" anything. He posted the article here and translated it. The information was released by other people and if you have a problem with the reporting, learn Korean and take it up with them.

Dude srsly, quit getting your panties in a bunch. SC2 will live on EG will live on and continue being one of the biggest Foreign teams, no matter what you think about them. It was a simple communication mistake, since PuMa wanted to talk to his coach first which if u listened, was PuMa's idea.

Factually, this is true. Also true is the fact that PlayXP had released the article to the korean public before Milkis, and they too released it without getting a statement from EG. Milkis seems to have been one of the first to even reach out to EG

Blaming Milkis for this story getting blown out of proportion is the worst case of "shooting the messenger," ever. If he didn't translate, someone would have. It was already "reported" in Korea. Even if TL didn't post it at all for "journalistic integrity," someone else would have and then someone would have crossposted it here without needing another translator. No doubt, it would have been MORE skewed, with MORE errors, and LESS correct.

Having Milkis translate it is the best EG could have hoped for from the situation. They STILL have the option to amend the OP with any response they would like about the issue, but they have not availed themselves of that situation. The OP is not biased because of anything Milkis has done or has not done. Coach Lee took his opportunity to respond to the thread, EG has not outside of WoC. That is NOT Milkis' problem.
