Sure I would say that most teams will not stop sending players, but I would guess there will be far more chaperoning and a lot less contact.

What went on here, if it is as claimed (EG approached Puma directly), would result in fines and bans of various sorts in other sports. If you think it's acceptable, then what do you think of rules against such actions in other (professional) sports? Okay so I asked this question and no one answered it, but if TSL did have a contract with Puna it's not tampering. If TSL and EG are "teams" in the same "league" and they all have contracts then it's tampering. If Puma had a contract I assume TSL wouldn't let him go, so I think TSL is just raging.

No comment until EG PR, interesting move tho. Not exactly a conclusion but a a theory rather.

As if players are property. And there is nothing wrong with bypassing management. If they would have gone through TSL as opposed to talking to Puma directly, Puma most likely would not have joined EG because the TSL management would most likely twist the offer in a way that Puma would not want to join. They are desperate to keep their best player. Talking directly to him allows them to give him the straight up offer. If it's a good enough offer, he'll take it. If not, then he will not. This is a mutually beneficial arrangement and people should be happy for both EG and Puma. "IMO it takes a fairly scumbag person aka organization to approach PUMA personally like this." Why? He is a person. If you want to offer a person something, then do it. It makes no sense to go through that person's management. It is not EG's responsibility to talk to the team of a player they are interested in. They are simply interested in the player, and it his that player's obligation to figure things out with his team, which he obviously did. I 100% agree. People need a rude awakening to the real world. In the real world when I'm working for a company and another company wants to hire me they approach me. Not my company. They offer a package and I take it or not. The only reason some sports don't do that is because of a governing body which SC2 does not have. Also it was Puma's decision. He took himself out of TSL as have a few other players of late. So I'm unsure exactly what the situation is there. Maybe nothing is wrong in TSL but it seems odd. My main concern is where is Puma going to live. In EG's American house? Is EG going to get a place in Korea now as well? Is EG going to partner with someone like FXO to give Puma a place to train? Because in real life, you work for the company, make money for them and they'll pay you salary. If your company let you keep most (or all) the money you make, and also pay for your expense, find the sponsor, I bet they would be pissed too. That is between TSL and Puma. Nothing to do with EG. TSL where using him as marketable space for brands. If they where making money on him or planed to in the future is not EG's concern. If he was just a money sink it is a hobby. If you wish to get your investment back then you should have a proper contract. I don't get the hate for EG. If people want to hate someone it was PUMA's decision. EG did not force him to do anything, they simply gave him the option. It is like seeing your wife/gf cheat on you. Doesn't matter who the partner is your wife/gf cheated with. But it is much easy to chase the other person down the street. Having said that though I think Puma made a decision and I respect and understand it. You have a limited "life span" in a sport so you try to do as well in it as you can.

Some very interesting moves by SK and now EG..... I wonder how the Korean SC2 scene will respond. They definitely will have to keep their players happy now to avoid more deals like this. I just hope the Korean SC2 scene steps up to give their stars more to keep them happy... or else their scene may start to dissolve.

This thread is a bit too black and white. If we don't know the specifics of the situation we should not judge. Is it true that he had no salary in the TSL? A regular salary is a really amazing deal TBH because it offers stability rather than sporadic tournament wins that are unpredictable. Hope this works out and YAY for IdrA now having a great Terran to practice with.

Knowing how Asians work, team players/coaches might whisper each other and be aware of the threat of losing their players when sending them to international events. I can still see Koreans participating online international events, but for offline events, I don't expect them to send kids to do big jobs now.
