How in the world are you guys reaching the conclusion that this means no Koreans will participate in foreign events when literally all the evidence points otherwise? o_o

Smells like a shitstorm a brewing. Very interesting move from EG.. I don't think we know enough specifics to be making any arguments, but it does seem at first glance like this deal is a little underhanded. It will be interesting to see where Puma goes. Will he stay to compete in the GSL? Will he go abroad?

When you have a job in the real world and another company wants to hire you, the company does not go and talk to your boss to see if that's "ok". SC2 does not have an all-encompassing governing body similar to the NBA, NFL, MLB, etc. so they can and will exercise their rights to pursue a possible employee. If you actually think that this was a dirty move by EG than you have unrealistic views of how business is done. Please, do not post when you are oblivious to what it is you're talking about. --------------------Congratulations EG, I think this is awesome, only question is if he will stay in Korea w/ another team possibly or come to the AZ house. EG Hwaitiiiiinnnnnngggggg! Well guess what? This is eSPORTS, ok? If you're gonna call yourself one thing, then follow the same rules as the other sports.

SC2 players are not slaves, and at 19 Puma is plenty old enough to decide for himself what team it is most beneficial to him to play for. From what I've read a lot of Korean teams treat their players VERY poorly, and events like this will force them to think real hard about what benefits their team is actually providing before their top players realize they can have a better quality of life playing for someone else.

EG Hwaitiiiiinnnnnngggggg! Umm, yeah nice try but that is completely the wrong analogy here. Why not try something which is actually related to the subject matter, Such as professional football (or soccer in the US)? If an opposing team contacts one of your players directly about a transfer instead of going through official channels they can get severely fucked for it, and I presume it's the same for the majority of major team based sports. Yes there is no governing body (Well actually there is in Korea, to make sure the teams are treated fairly and I guess it would deal with things like this inside Korea), but just because you can't be punished for something doesn't make it the right thing to do.

How about we wait until an official statement from EG before jumping to comnclusions about the future of SC2 in the west? No comment until EG PR, interesting move tho.

Either it's a bad team to play for or their legal team is much worse than other Korean teams and they haven't figured out how to draw up a contract. If there was foul play by EG here, I mean actual legal breaches of contract, TSL would be talking about it. Instead they're just acting mad about losing another player. Those who can sue, do. Those who can't, whine. I'd like to see what EG has to say.

I work at a company since 6 years. My company paid me a degree in accounting --> My contract was changed so that I had to stay for 2 more years (after finishing the degree) or I would have to pay for it myself. Immediately after succeeding and getting my certificate I got substantially better pay because else other companies would actually seek me out and offer me more money. Now exchange "education/degree" with "tournament/gstl" wins... It's just fucking normal. Either you have to account for things like this BEFORE someone goes big or change his contract immediately after....

What went on here, if it is as claimed (EG approached Puma directly), would result in fines and bans of various sorts in other sports. If you think it's acceptable, then what do you think of rules against such actions in other (professional) sports? Thank you for linking that article about a practice used to bypass regulations on behavior in some professional sports leagues in this discussion about a job offer made to a professional SC2 player. I think it's perfectly acceptable. The rules referred to in the article are part of the regulations an organization has to agree to to participate in a particular league. If the GSL or NASL want to set up similar rules, that's fine, but if they don't exist, no wrongdoing has taken place here. I totally understand why Lee is pissed to lose his best player, but being pissed and being wronged are different things.

If you think you know what has happened based solely on the ridiculously little info available so far, you should go be a poker pro. With those skills you'd be a millionaire in no time!

I'm not angry at all, I don't care enough about EG to get pissed over this, it's just really shady. And even if you're in contract with a team (going back to what you said) they cannot just terminate the contract. The other team has to buy out the contract first. Nah, not angry at all - sorry for assuming you were. I won't judge EGs practices with so little information and I'm completely uninvested in the whole thing, but I do get annoyed when people don't actually read what I say and then try and tell me what I said. I've quite capable of speaking for myself ![]()
