Oh good god, so true. If we want women in SC2, someone has to take the first, small step and be a role model for others.

You do realise that you can not say that girls lack stamina out of one example right?
A lot of virtuoso pianists are women. And piano requires far more physical and mental stamina than starcraft 2.
No it doesn't. I play piano and I can tell you playing SC is a lot more mentally challenging. One who excels at SC, can excel at anything.
I meant at the highest level of play... For the physical aspect: The most demanding piano pieces require more apm than what a starcraft 2 player could ever use efficiently, with both hands on a keyboard three times as large. Not counting the fact that you also have to use your feet and that the strenght at witch you need to punch the keys is variable.
For the mental aspect: every note you play must be perfect, both in timing and in strenght.
Of course Starcraft 2 requires an all other set of skills and a very different usage of the apm considering that punching a key has a purpose, that you have to move your mouse and that you have to prioritise your actions but on the subject of pure stamina, i don't really see how there is room for debate....
John already commented on this: http://twitter.com/#!/junkka83/status/91454085609426945. You guys have been following korean culture a little with watching GSL or the videos they have before shows. The culture has an emphasis on looks in their entertainment. Thats why you see a bunch've girl/boy bands pop up all the time with them having a mixture of talent, but more than likely they're all eye candy to their targeted audience.
I am sure shes talented as Slayers has a track record of picking up some good players, but I don't think everyone should place such a heavy emphasis on what the interview translated. We'll eventually see how she performs on the show and we can go from there.
im happy to see this, theres no reason a female cant compete other than how seriously they practise. hopefully on the slayers team she will show people whats up.
I really hope she performs well, she must at least decent if they're planning on fielding her. It helps that she'll be playing Terran on a team loaded with Terrans who can help her train. Pretty awesome news I'd say

Given the tenaciousness of anti-fanboys, it will take more than 1 game to shut them up. ;_;
I sincerely hope she doesn't end up as a bench-warmer.
This is annoying to me, honestly. Not because "damn them girls!!1!" but because shes going to be bad. I dont think an attractive youthful girl is going to be the sort of personality which sits down for fourteen hours a day practicing. She also will likely not live in the house, may even suffer from a degree of isolation in practice. Shes basically another Tossgirl; a pretty face for the team who sticks around because shes getting money for being attractive and thats about it. Worst of all, a lot of people on this site are going to think contrarily [just as they oddly do about Tossgirl] and emphatically support her and decry her every loss.

She was in GSTL last night....
Too bad she can't play until their roster gets updated.
5 weeks, correct? That's what John said, anyway.
Yup, if John's correct, she'll be bench-warming for five weeks. I mean, it's probably a very good idea to bring her along just to let her get the feel for the competition, but I expect the internet to explode with a bunch of sexist comments about how she's clearly just there to market sex appeal or something. Ugh.

Would be 1,000,000x cooler if she, uh, was actually any good.
Will be happy to eat my words if she's secretly a GM or whatever.
First off, she's diamond, not gold. Secondly, what's the big deal about her being an MMA fan? Damn near everyone likes MMA, and I doubt he had much of any influence at all in the team's decision. Thirdly, you have zero proof that she was brought on purely for sex appeal just because cosmetics are important to Korean culture. Finally, ladder rank =/= skill. The only known account she has has only 100 games played, and she's only played one incredibly minor tournament. You can't call whether she's good or bad simply because we've never fucking seen her play.

So without ever seeing any game of her, you come to the conclusion that she's gonna do poorly? Nice one
