I question your statement. "Video games" are a pastime that everybody can enjoy. However because it is socially linked as a 'male' activity and it puts a social-constraint on women in entering the video game subculture. Like how men generally wouldn't play with dolls/Barbies or join some sort of knitting club. The activities and jobs we do today are gendered whether your choose to accept this or not. These constraints and flows are what allow and do not allow - advantage and skill to be gained. I don't know jack shit about biology and the differences between male/female hand-eye coordination and its effects on video games. However, I do know that your comment was pretty grand without proper justification. proof is in the pudding

So if you're a woman you can't play 5 games in a sitting?...a bo5 doesn't require "stamina"
[Trans] ESPORTS: It's not just for men
Yes, I am saying exactly that, obviouly they can play one bo5, but they simply cant play as much.

Then the skill gap becomes bigger, and I start to lose games. I have the desire to win and compete, but I can't control my emotions since I lose all the time. After losing so many games, I become depressed and wonder if this is really worth doing anymore. I have to deal with these emotions myself, so it becomes very difficult at times.
So, yeah. You do realise that you can not say that girls lack stamina out of one example right? A lot of virtuoso pianists are women. And piano requires far more physical and mental stamina than starcraft 2. No it doesn't. I play piano and I can tell you playing SC is a lot more mentally challenging. One who excels at SC, can excel at anything.
Umm.. depends on what level and genre of piano/music you are playing. If you are just learning someone elses songs, like classical songs, thats on the same level of stealing a korean buildorder and practicing it 10 hours a day.. but IMPROVISING is quite possibly the most mentally demanding activity ever for humans.. To be a top notch improviser like Chick Corea or Herbie Hancock, the amount of mental knowledge in music theory is much more difficult than any mental task in starcraft.
Starcraft is a logical progression mentally; you scout, you see what your opponent is doing and make a logical guess/reaction from that point. For Example, Yesterday in a PvP the guy did a 4gate which I held at my ramp, so he started doing a sentry contain. From this info, since I couldn't get a direct scout of his base (without a robo) I knew he was most likely either expoing, or teching himself. If I chose to go DTs, there was a ~50% chance he would have a robo/obs ready, where as if I went blink stalker, I could avoid the contain and pressure him and if he did indeed expo, it would be a 85% chance I would win right there. Percentages told me to go Stalkers, so I did and won. Its like Poker. That is the type of mental thinking that is required in starcraft, which is all LOGICAL percentage-based progressions. The difficulty in starcraft comes from the physical strain in multitasking. I think people KNOW that attacking on 2 or 3 fronts is better than one, but do they have the APM to pull it off; thats the difficulty in this game.
Improvising in music, while you can get away with being sub-par and just playing in the root key for the whole progression which is relatively easy (still have to pay major attention to rhythm and tension/release), when you are following each chord and using the corresponding scale for each chord, ALONG with throwing in chromatic or "outside" notes, ALONG with developing a unique rhythmic pattern that is melodic and human-like throughout the whole bar.. I dont know anything that would be as mentally demanding as that.
If you are just playing classical piano reading sheet music, the mental aspect may be minimal, but being a strong jazz pianist/improviser is a LIFETIME goal that you can never "perfect", and its not because of any physical limitations like being a perfect SC player would be.
Your quote is generally reversed; If you excel at Music, you can excel at anything.. Including starcraft (who was it recently (PuMa?) who said that he played piano so he is good at SC)

Why is she being compared to Tossgirl? Tossgirl, in her own right, is a very, very good BW player. Yes, she gets smashed when she had to face A-teamers, but she still is better than most BW foreigners and can take games off some good Korean players. This girl, from what I've read, was a fan of MMA, just got into esports, and won a tournament against below average competition. I really hope she does well, but it's going to take a while to get her into a condition that will be able to into the booth to play. But hey, if she really is willing to do all this work and practices in the Slayers house as long as her teammates, she will get good in a few months. Right now I would say it is definitely a publicity stunt/trying to be the first team to recruit a girl, but I think she'll turn out to be a decent or better player in the end.

Surprised they admit to taking her in based on her looks. Not many organizations will ever admit to that. Unless it's a position that understandably requires it like PR and such. Though I guess that's the point. Anyways, this is great and makes the scene look less of a sausage fest.
