I haven't listened to this weeks episode, but from what I've gathered, the SotG folks were making some pretty epic claims (like they could win the tournament). Maybe some of the heat can go their way now hah The problem with SOTG was all of them knew literally nothing about DotA/DotA2/Valve/HoN/LoL. They had absolutely no business discussing it. You guys on the other hand, seemed to be very educated/intrigued. Agree with everyone else, awesome episode.

I was sitting in the seats in front of the SC2 main stage and Instinct did not get booed. Here is exactly what happened: After the Halo finals, they turned off the screens on the Halo side for a little bit while they were giving the trophy. During this time they put SC2 up on the Halo screens and a bunch of the people that were standing made a dash for the Halo side. After a little bit, they turned off the SC2 feed on the Halo side and THATS when people started booing. It just so happened that Instinct was on the stage at the time. Why would anyone think people would boo Instinct for no reason? lol

Shit man we had so much to cover last night that we knew we wouldn't hit everything. However, that issue in particular is not one that is so "time sensitive" so we will address it on another show soon enough. That and a few other topics from MLG Anaheim which we didn't have time to discuss. The show would have to be 5 hours for us to truly cover everything we'd like to :D

Please lay this little controversy to rest wheat.

Surely that would be a great way to expand your scene. He seemed to shit all over Lol's model, which has been a resounding success. because its not actually free to play. It gives a giant advantage for the people willing to pay for runes for all your heros(hence why i stopped playing after beta)

There are a lot of people on that side of the fence, I would hardly classify them as idiots just because I may or may not agree with them though. There are some cons to the free to play model that override the expansion of the scene for some people. Some believe that the f2p model opens the community up to more abuse since it's easier for people to create accounts and abuse others, leave games and disrupt other people's experience. Another reason people don't like the f2p model in Lol is that there is either a large time investment, or a $ investment greater than the cost of a 1 time purchase game, in order for one to be equally competitive. I personally don't think these override the f2p model, and there are ways to mitigate the issues but I wouldn't call someone that holds the above values an idiot.

Maybe it's just me, but trying to stop people playing your game seems insane. I know for me, if Starcraft was free that would be the greatest thing ever. Just being able to get friends to play the game and understand what we love so much would expand the scene hugely.

I think the big issue with the $ investment is team fortress showed that you dont need to actually give players who pay a advantage in the game. THey make a killing on different skins/clothes for their units. WoW made a killing on those sparkle ponies even tho everyone already had the fastest mounts possible. So imo they're hurting the fairness of their game for monetary gain...even tho theres been proven ways of accomplishing that same gain without affecting the actual game play.

Free 2 Play and Pay 2 Play are 2 very different models and each model must be applied to a game that will actually make the most of it. Pay 2 Play is not a way of restricting players from playing the game, it just helps players respect the game which they have spent their $ on. I dont think anyone could shit on the model that LoL has done, it has been insanely successful and will continue to be so, well after the release of DOTA 2. No matter what Valve choose to do there will still be a crap load of people playing the game. What would save SC2 in my opinion if it went F2P is its ranking systems...would just make bronze alot more frustrating.
