I definitely have been wondering if there's been some kind of promotion bug, I'm currently stuck in platinum 1v1 and I definitely feel like I'm overdue for a promotion.

I currently have a 57.7% win ratio vs diamond players (30 wins, 22 losses) and only recently has that ratio dropped below 60%. Also, I haven't played anything but diamond players in the past two weeks. (I keep an excel spreadsheet of my stats so it's easy for me to spit out this info)

Placed gold because I failed one placement on a new account and I'm beating plats and diamonds very consistently. I'll see how many games it takes to promote me. If it does, I'll report back, but I'm not seeing any light at the end of the tunnel for now. I'm starting to think it's locked unless the equation for determining promotion has changed. Who knows.... we'll find out today if I get promoted or sit in gold beating masters....

Yes, my best matchup by far is PvT, I got to high diamond after long winning streak vs Terrans. Lately I've been playing only vs Protoss and Zergs which I have lost like 70-80%. Now I'm playing vs high plat still losing like 70% (where all are the terrans?!) and still I am ranked 20th diamond.

Why try and improve if there is no reward for it. Competitive games thrive on ranking and the constant lure of achieving a higher level. It matters little in the competitive community, but Starcraft II as a whole it's a major issue for sure.

Why have a promotion system if it isn't working? People actually dedicate time and effort into such a hard game, they want to be promoted when they should. It isn't too much to ask.

Update: There are quite a number of bug threads on battle.net forums asking the same question. Hopefully Excalibur might be able to update us on it.

I made an account on the US server 2 weeks ago or so and got placed in Diamond despite winning all 5 placement matches. After 50 or 60 games and barely any losses I had the best diamond rating in the entire world with 100 points more than the 2nd and I still did not get promoted. Then I quit for a few days, came back and lost some games and suddenly i was promoted. It really doesnt make any sense.

After all that system is really annoying and there has to be fixed something.

Ah right, seems I'm not alone then! I was just trying to convince myself I still hadn't played enough but I'm currently in Silver being matched with (so far) up to rank 8 Diamond so I was wondering if it was ever going to promote me, lol.

Found an actual Blizzard Blue confirm that there is a bug and it will be patched soon.

Edit: Actually the Blue might be only referring to the Not Yet Ranked page that people are seeing and not the actual promotion bug. I have no clue.

There's simple fix to the system

Make the hidden rating non-hidden and rank players by it.

Yeah I got from bronze to silver in the usual manner about 6 hours ago. I find that the thing where you have to lose a couple to balance the MMR is true.

The reason losing balances it out is because you are stagnating your MMR long enough that the system thinks you are staying in the confidence range of a league.

Not sure if this is helpful at all, but I think that i might be having a similar issue, I'm at over 1.1k pts in diamond, 85% win rate over the past 25 games, all but 4 of them have been vs masters players, most of the masters players I've been hitting (and beating) are around 1k-1.2k pts.

Finished all my work before finals, so i'm gonna grind a ton of games out, if I don't get promo'd soon I'm calling bS

If you read the rest of the thread, the bug only seems to be happening to people that have the Not Yet Ranked Grandmaster league in their profile. Please read the whole thread before posting.
