I won a game after the lock and was promoted from Gold to Rank 1 Plat. I assumed every promotion relegates you to Rank 100 of your new league. As I'm relatively new to SC2, may I ask 1) Is that common 2) quite rare, 3) or a bug?

1) It's normal. Every time you get demoted or promoted your points are reset to "spent bonus pool" + 73. Then you will be placed in the appropriate place in your new division. Some divisions are tougher than others, so it depends.

Looking forward to my Diamond -> Gold demotion tonight then. =) I havent played for 40 weeks and have been on a super-super loosing streak now then I restarted. After each game I get questions how I can be in diamond and play like s***. Will be nice to not have those conversations any longer.

I know the feeling, well if you were once in Diamond you'll get back eventually. I've shimmering between Platinum and Diamond all the time. When I'm on top of my game I can't seem to lose against platinum-players no matter what strat or cheese they pull off. In other times it's like I'm playing in slow-motion and being behind every game and just throw away game after game.

I'm 66-32 1K+ points in 3x3 with bonus pool cleared and something ridiculous like 25-5 in my 30 last games and i'm still not promoted to masters.

Masters is best 2%, and since there are a lot less people playing 3v3 there are a lot less spots in masters. So that might be the reason (?)

Well, I got promoted as soon as ladder unlocked, but why am I always slightly favored playing against people in the same league? I only win 5 points per win, and I lost like 20 each time I lose. I'm diamond and playing diamond, why am I always slightly favored?

Actually, its because the system fucked up the promotion for those who were "locked", and now they are at a high tier diamond division, and to fix the high amount of points you have after promotion, the system will force you to lose tons of points until your MMR and your league points are close to eachother. I am getting the very same thing too, and that sucks.

The ladder system bugged out for anyone who was recently promoted. As far as I can tell, all you can do to fix the "always slightly favored" bug is to lose a whole bunch of games until your MMR steadies out, or you are demoted.

i havent heard anything official about it. but alot of ppl are talking about it so i dono tbh. but since its a new seasson i cant see why there should be a ladder lock.

The ladder lock was due to a problem regarding the Grandmaster league, there is a Blizzard post on the subject in the OP, but as it is resolved in all regions it no longer really matters.
