<3. For the record I appreciate your attempt to try to salvage the discussion as it was flying all over the place. It was a Herculean task to try to make a coherent argument happen. Good show.
Yeah they tried to approach Destiny in a discussion but it was just constant yelling and repetition of the same point. I came on late for the last 20mins and it was painfull listening to Destiny. He was clearly riled up to much and in huge amounts of hind sight maybe Wheat should have stepped in and tried to cut it short.
I don't really have any hate for any of them from this but Painuser seemed the most on point and calm.
Personally I think Blizz has a great opportunity to give a massive boost to the scene when Hots comes out. It will sell well as all Blizz games do. The mainstream gaming press and gamers will be all over it when it comes out. There will be ads on TV/streams/sites etc and hundreds of thousands of new eyes will be on Starcraft again for a while. If Blizz can put the competitive scene on the front page of all that in some form then we will get the bump we want.
If the large chunk of casual players who get the game and play the campaign + a few dozen custom games against the ai gets exposed to the gsl or dreamhack before they buggers off to the next big release they might get hooked on the scene.
There are lots of ideas for improving the game. I don't know what are the best ones to push for. I don't think there is any harm in sending them to Blizzard. They know what might work, what won't but at least they know how to best please us. It's up to them what they want to or are capable of doing.
Either way it is way to early to say the sky is falling. There are going to be a lot of eyes on us and we need to be best dressed when the big day comes. If nobody shows up or it is a disaster then we can get drunk and trash the bar screaming.

Yah and he brings more to the community and more attention for sc2... not like any LoL player would want to play SC2 due to skill level differences, and if Destiny were to become "pro" with a pro team (lol @ destiny and teamwork) and be a LoL player my hypothesis would be that Destiny WOULD infact GAIN more viewers than he would now... Note though, just compare LoL (skill-less game compared to SC2) and SC2 viewership. Tournments are up high but I have NEVER seen a LIVE event of SC2 reach near or even over 200k viewers. If it did then I'm sorry for being Ignorant but if you compare Dream Hack events (LoL and Sc2) you will certainly notice the audience difference Hence the comment by idra that maybe destiny should just switch to LoL since he already knows Blizzard rarely does much. He doesn't even bring much to the sc2 community with all the recent past events it just makes it look worst at times.
thats the point that he wants to make "sc2" is a shit game because blizzard doesnt support it like LoL does and also Destiny does have his worst moments but comon there has been other dramas like MMA and Jessica atm.
What Destiny's Point is that the pro players (incontrol, idra, etc) are listened to by blizzard. I'm uncertain of how much but Destiny wants blizzard to please her casual gamers. He and can say most of us wants USM to be more supported. Custom maps and such are no where never creative as SCBW was with all the hacked map editors to create fanastic maps yet sc2 map editor is crazy but no real maps have shown though

Why don't we spend 14 more pages talking about bullshit and drama instead of addressing the real issue at hand.
SC2 is in comparative if not actual decline. It went from a flagship for E-sports to a major competitor to a somewhat nostalgic tertiary figure in 18 months. Its direct competitors have out-innovated it, out-marketed it, and out-positioned it with a free to play model, integrated advertising, LAN support, and a social integration within their client.
More importantly, the developers behind the two games dominating the current E-Sports market are incredibly responsive and engage with their playerbase regularly. Riot, much like Blizzard, develops at a glacial pace, but they do so while, for the most part, keeping their customers in the loop and maintaining a positive relationship. Blizzard's quality of game has fallen off a cliff, they don't listen to literally anyone, and for their last four releases I would wager to say customer satisfaction has been majorly lacking.
What does this all have to do with Destiny's point, and ITG's reaction? Well everyone on the show agreed that Blizzard sucks, they aren't communicative, and that they would like changes to be made. However the crux of their argument seemed to be that Destiny went about advocating for that change in the wrong way. He was over the top. He was doom and gloom. He made up statistics. This is all fine, but their corrective measures seemed to be to tell Destiny that "This isn't the way to do it". The problem is that the way the ITG guys are advocating is the way they've been trying to do it for two years, and it clearly isn't working. So maybe Destiny made some mistakes in how he framed his argument, but his overall point about the need to somehow spur Blizzard into action remains. While the SC2 scene certainly isn't going to disappear it is going to be left further and further behind by existing and up and coming competitors who are being actively developed for, who do bring in casual players, who do monetize their product without a major up front cost, and who understand the power of integration within the game client itself.
So I ask those of you who care about the Starcraft scene, what can we do about it? It seems to be that now, when Blizzard is finishing development and starting their marketing campaign for a new, premium expansion, is the exact right time to apply a little pressure. They want to sell those boxes, yet they refuse to engage with the community in any meaningful sort of way and address the concerns that are dragging this game down. When, if not now, are we going to figure out a way to get the support from Blizzard we need? Or is it as IdrA said, a lost cause, Blizzard won't change no matter what we do, and we're all wasting our time playing/following/spectating on a game that has very little development support and no real hope of long term growth?
Or, you know, keep calling each other shitheads and worrying about who started it.

I think we can all agree that Blizzard is doing a poor job. I understands Destiny's frustrations, and thought he acted poorly on ITG. But as far as his post goes, pointing out what was wrong with the SC2 scene, I think most of it was pretty much right on the money, I'd read more of an analysis of what is wrong, as opposed to what needs to be done. Which is a completely different question. I felt the arguments that Geoff had regarding SC:BW "community" vs SC2 community, in reference to stream numbers was a pretty moot point. SC2 may have been the "starting" for esports streaming, but the implication from Wheat and Geoff was that another game wouldn't of just started it. Look at streaming tech now, I seriously doubt youtube streaming the debates on line, looked at esports streaming and was like "dude, got a brilliant idea, stream debate online!", the idea is not as innovative as DjWheat, and Geoff made it out to be. Also, I dislike the comparison to Breaking Bad to American Idol, if Breaking Bad was on basic cable, no doubt it could haul in some sick numbers, sure maybe not American Idol numbers, but wayyyyyyyy more, probably double? That's still a huge change from current numbers.
Also as far as Geoff's experience on the community goes from SC:BW. I bought the original vanilla SC, then SC:BW, as a kid. Played the campaign, had fun on UMS. Didn't really follow pro-scene at all, but I knew who Boxer was, and who Yellow was, pretty much most of the big names. Even during Savior era of dominance, I knew who these players were, despite not really watching any of the games. It's like I don't really watch Soccer at all, but I know who Messi, Beckham, Rooney, Ronaldo, Caca, etc etc. The slight knowledge of legendary BW is what drew me into the pro-scene of SC2, and the experience was similar for my friends as well. I think Geoff's analysis of what "majority" of BW casual was some what correct, but it didn't account for the movement of BW Casuals to SC2 followers.

Destiny was referring to SC2, I am aware of this, but you fabricated dialogue, which I corrected. Destiny's language was not so straightforward at that point, he said "everything", which is ambiguous, and it was misinterpreted by Wheat.
The ironic thing here, my friend, is that you speak of context. If you had actually weighed in on the arguments, you would know that, despite this mishap in semantics, which is petty, DjWheat's retort was relevant to the overall argument.

DJ wheat, tournament streaming for video games existed before starcraft 2. Are you kidding me? People watched CS 1.6, CS source, Halo 1-2-3, COD, Smash Bros, Street Fighter, Tekken all BEFORE stracraft 2 was released. ARE YOU THAT BLIND? ARE YOU STUPID? I respected you and incontrol alot before this show but honestly you both + destiny acted like little children.

Incontrol with your attitude you've proved you can be as low as the lowest members of the community , on which you frown upon. I know you're not going to admit you behaved inappropriately ( even if you realize it ) , but just drop the "Oh, I'm being trolled by the community" act.

And the way he exited the show was downright horrendous. I can't even believe someone with so little success and a completely failed career (in many ways, including the twitter fiasco) has so much clout. If SC2 is fail then leave, but please bring your doom bringing to LoL with you. He like most ppl in this drama have apologized for their actions. (but gotta notice both sides were irritating the other side boiling up into a verbal argument) YOU MUST realize that Destiny is actually making a living off his stream, than living off a team. He is like entertainment for us but he does in fact bring up valid arguments for the casual players. (eg. like how after 2 years of the realize of WOTL blizzard has done nothing (maybe 1.5 patch) for us). I wish there was Cat and Mouse... CPU CAT VS MOUSE lol I love that map Well, to clarify I was specfically talking about his pro gaming career. If people watch his stream, I feel sorry for them.
Lol way to attack me, but I wont argue with you because I'm a casual gamer, blizzard has done nothing for us and I'm glad that atleast someone that is known is fighting for us and is literately fighting and arguing on our sake by showing how LoL appeases her fans and Blizzard does shit games like D3 and nothing for SC2 (I remember LAN petitions, I signed them to no avail).
PS, I love destiny's stream so be very truly daringly sorry for me. cause I do deserve it

Go re listen. He didn't say SC2 invented online streaming. Before you lose more respect points you should fact check yourself. You completely missed his point.
