He is probably his biggest fan and having him cast Goody's games always equals a comedy goldmine. Having a caster cast one bo3 is ridiculous and stupid. not to mention just because he is his biggest fan doesn't mean he will be able to cast. Remember it is in the middle of the night in Europe.

Why are iNcontroL and Gretorp not casting?
|
I like the high gamma. Gives it character.
Of course iNcontrol is a hero.

GSL wasn't amazing Day 1, yea it had good matches and Tastosis casting, but aside from that the NASL is on par.
Casters are decent-good, production value is great for first week, stream quality is amazing, the mic sound is a lot better today.
My only complaints is the game lag, which I can't change, and the microphones, they could be better.
I really don't see how the production value sucks, and the casters are "faking excitement", that sounds so retarded it may just be.
People forget SC2/Esports just took its hold in the U.S, it's only going to improve. The standards aren't the same here as SKorea, when there is competition amongst tournaments the level of overall quality will raise as fast as it needs to.
You think the people at MLG want another mishap (Dallas) again now that there is the NASL and the IGN pro league, GSL, etc? Theyll be doing everything they can to be 'better'.

The music is horrifically distracting. The in-game music (T, P, and Z themes) would be better, and at a lower volume.
|
I agree with the guy who said that the player introductions should be done before each match. The whole block at one shot isnt nice.
|
I honestly wanted this to work, but these problems are unacceptable. I won't be buying from them again unless I see a major improvement.

Gretorp's voice when he gets "excited" just grates on me... He does sound fake, and he emphasizes the wrong parts of the game when he does try to sound excited
No offense to the guy, but his casting just kills the stream for me... He needs to learn to modulate his voice and use excitement in the right places
|
Is it down for anyone else currently? I was receiving an error message before, now I'm just getting a screen which reads "NASL". I want to watch goody

Right now it seems like they're stuck in the void of forcing excitement, but if they'd act natural, it would translate much better for the viewers. As for Gretorp, get rid of him. He's repetitive, adds no insight, and made bad calls several times. And for the record, I think Husky and Chill are both equally as terrible. I know it's being beaten to death, but I think you underestimate how excited the viewers would be to wittness a casting crew like: Day9/Tastless/Artosis. Honeslty, I'd be more excited for the casting then the matches themselves. Agreed 100%... The problem we have right now is that we have too few casters who are analytical and charismatic...
Analytical/Strategic Casters Day9 Artosis
Good Color Commentators Chill Husky DJWheat Tasteless
Mix of Analytical and Color InControl
We need more casters like Artosis and Day9, who can talk about the metagame more, and who have strong personalities that carry the cast... I like InControl, and he can be a great caster if he works more at it, but Gretorp lacks both the analytical and charismatic skills to make up for the other half.

The casters are bad. The production value is awful There's no excitement, no sense of reality, no passion.
Watching the NASL feels like watching a mediocre youtube caster's gimmick, where he casts a bunch of replays while pretending it's a tournament.
All of this from a guy who was so brazen as to say that he's the only human being with the qualities it takes to make the NASL happen.
If this is "raising the bar of western eSports" then I'll stick to Korea. There are hundreds, if not thousands of people on Team Liquid who could do infinitely better with eSports in North America if they had the funding. then you do it bro. Give me fifty grand bro. Convince investors to give you fifty grand.

I've been saving up my criticism (hopefully constructive) for a few days now, I think I'm ready to post:
1.- Although it usually stabilizes after 45 minutes or so, and that's still a huge chunk of time, the lag at the beginning of the casts is huge, terrible, and makes the stream impossible to watch. I had my resolution down to 360p, chat turned off and still got horrible lag. I don't understand the issue here, maybe it's on NASL's end (I watch J.tv, ustream, livestream, own3d.tv, gosugamers, etc, and NEVER have problems, this only happens to me on NASL casts.
2.- The build-up and game discussion at the beginning is... interesting, but I'm sure they can do better. Either do a deeper strategy analysis of a certain match, or make a lighter analysis of everything, much faster and include some funny jokes. Don't try to do both. As of now, it looks a little forced and sounds as just stalling.
3.- Talking about sound. PLEASE fix sound. There are many issues with it, including, first of all, quality. NASL stream gas about the same sound quality as Huk's stream, and that's pretty horrible. If sennheiser cup can pull it off, I can't understand why NASL has low quality sound. I also can't understand why I am listening to menu screen music instead of in-game sounds and music. It really goes against the excitement in the games. When inviting casters to the mix, please fix Khaldor's mic. It sounds horrible. Stop screaming so much as well, it's deafening.
4.- Casters are a huge issue. I like Incontrol, gretorp not that much, but I wouldn't care if they had some good synergy. I really dunno what happened. I liked you guys in GCPL, but in NASL... it's not working. Diggity/Khaldor has been by far the best duo. Get Chill, WHEAT, day9. They'll do a lot better.
I know you're just starting, so I'm trying to be constructive. But really, I don't understand why GCPL cast was SO SUPERIOR to NASL. Better quality, better production, better sound, better games, better casting. What I also find hard to understand is why, if you have pre production, all these issues happen. Aren't casts pre recorded, then edited? Why can't these issues be settled previously? I don't get what's the point of pre recording if the end product doesn't show it's advantages.
I don't know. If NASL expects to retain and increase viewership, it desperately needs to improve production value. Today we have 8k viewers. Less than idra stream. 4 times less viewers than TSL ro16 boxer vs sen. And it's been steadily decreasing. Time to bring your A-game NASL, we want to see it.

You left out Demuslim and Apollo.

I really want to like NASL. I do LIKE It. But I'd LOVE- and always watch- a caster with some charisma and no slight monotone. AND NO- this is not likely to change in 3 months in the current status.

day 4 and still no in game sound?

My advice for NASL is to turn off the chat in the channel. It is such a vile place. Just a fast scrolling room filled with profanity laced personal attacks on the casters and players. I'm not sure what good can come from that. Mods give out 10min temp bans which doesn't seem to be a deterrent at all.
I love the "Nazi" mods here on TL keeping it clean for the most part.

Not sure if this is a NASL problem or a Justin.tv problem. The bitrate on the streams are too low. Basically if very little is going on, the stream maintains at 24fps, which is perfectly viewable. However if there are a lot going on, fps drastically drops, sometimes to even below 15fps.
All gamers know this. You really need to maintain the fps to make it a pleasurable viewing experience. Let's put it this way, I rather view 480p with constant 30fps than 1080p with variable 15-24fps.

wow you guys are using close positions metalopolis? why the heck would you use such an imba map when TSL or MLG metalopolis is available?

do people really read streamchats? the few times i glanced at one i only saw 100% bullshit spammed nonstop.

this is what confuses me aswell. they seem to have so many problems with stuff that never was a problem in GCPL or any random event out there.
and thats with edited recorded material instead of live. seems like somewhere something went wrong in the transition to their rather unique system.
hope for them to get their shit together soon. else viewers will dissapear esp with no free vods keeping the "publicity" low and keeping quite some people out anyways. would be sad with such a great playerpool and all the good will.
