There's so much you could say that would make it better, but the fact is the entire thing is just wrong.
The casters are bad. The production value is awful There's no excitement, no sense of reality, no passion.
Watching the NASL feels like watching a mediocre youtube caster's gimmick, where he casts a bunch of replays while pretending it's a tournament.
All of this from a guy who was so brazen as to say that he's the only human being with the qualities it takes to make the NASL happen.
If this is "raising the bar of western eSports" then I'll stick to Korea. There are hundreds, if not thousands of people on Team Liquid who could do infinitely better with eSports in North America if they had the funding.

I was happy with the annoucement that they were reading this thread and taking these things into considerations.. where else will you get so much imput into a show your watching?

The Legacy of NASL is shaping up to be the tournament where the most anticipated matches never happen...
july v white-ra naniwa v strelok
and from if what i just read is right, mc vs brat_ok.
As a spectator I don't care if they play the games 2 weeks late, I want to see the games. This tournament is after all about the games. Either broaden the times the games can be played or make the punishment such that players won't be out at the bar drinking or laddering when their match is to be played.

Harsh, but I have to agree to some extent.
Compared to GSL, it just feels very 'dead' and completley lacks atmosphere - one thing I thought NASL would have is a live studio audience with the players duking it out in the background on stage - really needs some music for the intermissions too.
Another thing I feel kills the mood is the extremely bland set in which the casters are presented. The lighting is dim, the wall on the background is just black with 'NASL' on it, it looks like an interrogation room. They could atleast have some interesting art in the background, kinda like how the casters were presented for the first couple of MLG's (Day9 + JP/Wheat).
Perhaps i'm being a bit critical as NASL has just launched, but I did think there would be a bit more effort put into it.

So the third no-show has happened in the first week. Games need to get recorded significantly ahead of time or this shit will probably continue. This record early in the day -> stream during primetime plan made sense, but players simply aren't scheduling around NASL. So either NASL needs to schedule around the players, or anticipated matches will keep falling through.

I would like to see some improvements to the observer movements. Particulary in the early game. A lot of klicking and moving the mouse around which is distracting, like dragselecting worker, an observer dont really need to spam up the APM. Not a big thing, just something that annoys me sometimes.

this tread is great i mean i am your side in narly all of your oppinions.
this tread should be sticky and send direct to incontrol

Watch the interviews for the IGN tournament. It hasnt even started yet!!! NASL could learn something.
The whole IGN thing is class. The prize pool is low, but they explained they need more time for permission from Blizzard. I just like how they operate. NASL please up the production values. None of this out of step stuff. Get the replays a bit in advance~ a few days perhaps? The cutting the other day just looked odd.

The pregame segment should be live so they aren't hyping matches that aren't gonna take place. Could also place the player discussion/hype before the match is broadcast so we aren't sitting for an hour. Cut the player discussion/hype to like 5-10 minutes max also. This is a league and they will play again in the 3 month span. No need for the "life story" before the action begins. The casters will get to talk about them again.

Also the pre-game stuff should be before each game, not all at the start. I'm listening to stuff I'm going to forget by the time I get to see the matches.

1. He's probably on a contract. 2. They can't find someone to replace him on the fly. 3. Casters can improve.

Gretorp is a great caster, people are crazy lol. That aside, I think the problem with it not feeling like a tournament is gonna change 3-4 weeks in when the groups actually have stats rather than just 1 win or 1 loss.

Give me fifty grand bro.

2 things:
- They need to do the player introductions before each individual match, not one whole block. It's simply annoying for the hardcore fans and turns the casual viewers off.
- Since they already have Khaldor to cast some games, they absolutely need to get TaKe to cast Goody's games. He is probably his biggest fan and having him cast Goody's games always equals a comedy goldmine.

I'd give this guy 50 grand if it meant there was a chance it'd be better than NASL now...

Umm you guys realize 50k is just the prize pool. I assure you there's a lot more involved in this than that.
Can't tell if srs.....

1) The lighting in the studio needs some work... lots of shadows around the presenters, interviewers etc.
2) Khaldor really needs a better mic... he sounds really distorted.

not only are the observers being changed constantly, but the casters keep switching out. Get a permanent observer who has experiencing observing high level games. Most of the casting is dull as well, except when iNcontroL is casting he is good at keeping the cast lively and full of emotion as well as giving solid game knowledge, hope to see more consistent appearances from the face of NASL.
