So I was thinking about when the ideal times to play SC are I've come up with a few ideas(NA server).
Best time to Ladder for easy wins: 10:30pm - 4:00am on Fri/Sat. - I've noticed that a lot of people play BAD during this time. I think it is because more people play drunk during this time; Drunk play= Bad play - This isn't a good time to get better... unless you are having trouble defending cannon rushes/6pools/bunker rushes...
Worst time to Ladder for easy wins: The morning - I'm tired, and play bad. - Let yourself wake up, check your facebook... do a logic game or two before you start playing.
Best time to get better: 4:30pm- 8:00pm on weekdays. - My longest games tend to happen during this time. Grinding out a win is very satisfying.

4:30-9:30pm imo because my brain still works well till about 9:30 but then just detiorates downhil very fast. Its up to the person really if they are a morning or a night person. But yea 4:30-about 10ish is most populated = more chancce of more equal competition

would this be eastern time?

No, its your local time and based on your server time in general unless you play with people on the other side of the world.

It is important to note that starting around 3 am or so the amount of cheese drastically increases, until maybe 6 am. For whatever reason, most people that play SC2 all not long tend to be cheesier than those who play during the day. I've noticed this in 1v1 and in team games also.

Good point, Thinking about it... I cheese the most during this time. Maybe because I'm getting way too tired to play, losing, and raging.

Personally I find over half of everyone on the ladder to be cheesy fucks no matter the time. Especially zergs lol
Though honestly when I get up early to play SC I tend to see slightly less cheese early in the mornings (5AM onward) and then it get's worse after like 5 PM or something like that. Just my experience.

For free wins in 3v3 teams:
good time too play in Europe is between 03.00 AM and 05.00 AM on wekends. Since there are so few on, you will get matched against noobs for free wins.
Just had 4 games with my noob 3v3 gold team against masters and high diamond people. They had easily twice as many units as us .

11 pm - 5 am PST Do work. Always on weekend !

I've always found that it's best to play at night if you wanna up your ranking. Although, you need a steeled mind, because it takes a lot to be able to play tired/drunk.
I've gotten pretty good at it, I think.
|
i completely agree with your assessment. weekend night games tend to be soft. funny...this is same thing as poker!
|
All I know is that anytime during the morning (aka, before 1 AM) I just play awful on the ladder...
I tried it out one time to see what it was like. Those are 4 games I will never have back...
|
My best and worst times to play are more dependent upon how I'm feeling psychologically, rather than what time of the day it is.
Ideal conditions for me: -Not tired; energetic; focused -Clear mind; not worried about other things I need to get done; not procrastinating -Not angry; won't go on tilt soon -Generally happy, content mood; wins will reinforce this; easier to accept losses and move on
That's basically my ideal emotional state, and that's pretty much all I prefer when playing The time of day is irrelevant for me.

I was playing the other night at around 4am CAT and wow there were some solid players playing. This was on like a Monday morning but I've also played at around 2am on a friday and it was just 6pools every single game. So yea I think Zerg players get cheesier but others seem to get more solid. :D

The time are misleading. Its actually the opposite. If your in plat+ its the opposite. No one plays in the afternoon. All the good players come out in the night time.
The best time to start winning in from early morning to late afternoon. As soon at 9pm comes around then the pros start jumpin on the servers. The later the night gets, the more pros come online.
|
I would say that during the night on weekdays is when most people you get matched against will be good since these are probably the ones that take the game seriously to be playing at times like that.
|
Just before patch, if the message " all server gonna go down in x minutes "go UP, go all in, instead play standard and wait patch time
|
never ladder while hungry.
|
Anecdotal. doesen't mean the same applies for everyone else.
besides, if you are playing ladder to win you are playing wrong - you should be improving not competing for invisible money
